QUOTE(mave222 @ Jul 19 2011, 09:33 PM) There's no need to push him. Some ppl are afraid to try a new thing. Thats okay with me.What make me agree to help him is because of his honesty to admit that he is not that good about all this rooting thing. I admire ppl who know their limit of knowledge and not trying to go over it. Much better that way rather than try it himself and then accidently do wrong and brick his new phone. Though i wonder SGSII can bricked easily. Maybe i'll guide him to do the on job rooting. That way is much easier to understand rather than reading all the step one by one but cant remember anything ~~lol~~ |

QUOTE(destEX @ Jul 19 2011, 09:53 PM) i agree with you, it IS a 2k phone, nobody wanna screw up and messed up, no matter how many guides i read and tutorial i saw, i'm still nervous the first time i root and the second time and third time...now no feeling ad lol. sgs2 can only be bricked if u flash a .pit without knowing shit, other than that i doubt it will brick. flashed a rom halfway pull still ok, 3/4 pull still ok, this phone reli hard to brick Yes i know BUT., the best thing is i also never do any rooting to any phone before.Maybe to be safe, i'll root his phone first as an experiment than only i root mine ~~lol~~ |

QUOTE(dhouseng @ Jul 20 2011, 06:15 AM) hey guys wanna ask how long does samsung take to send the e-warranty SMS? I bought my ori s2 2 weeks ago until now haven't receive any sms from samsung. I also had the same situation. I went back to the shop and the sales person said no need to worry about the SMS from Samsung. If anything happen within the warranty period, Samsung will honoured it without problem. Or they said just bring to the shop and they will sent in to Samsung. |

QUOTE(RyonanGT @ Jul 20 2011, 08:36 AM) guys, i read in xda there is something called AOS bug... does AOS stands for AndroidOS? how do i check the AOS number? is it goto Settings-> Application -> Battery Usage? Thank you... Yes, you can check AOS by go to Setting > Applications> Battery usage and check if your Android OS are eating a lot percentage of your battery. Many ppl suspect there is a bug if your AOS are rediculously high. Many other ppl denied there is a bug in the AOS and say that it is misleading if you check using this way because the AOS percentage will be high if you leave your phobe idle with the screen off and it will gradually went down if you start using your phone. Below was transcript by atinm (CM7 team member) Originally Posted by atinm A high number is meaningless. It' s not a bug if the Android OS is actually using 30%. What you need to do is run something like CPUSpy and see how much your phone goes into deep sleep. |

QUOTE(Vinspire @ Jul 20 2011, 10:11 AM) thx. mine was set to 30 secs. no wonder i felt so long If you're on stock rom and using Accuweather.com and AP mobile as a screen widget, try go to its setting and disable it Auto refresh and auto scroll. Update it manually when you need it.how long does ur S2 last? mine is only for a day, the display ate up most of the batteries. any tips on how to maximize the battery working period? just switch on power saver mode once battery is 30%. Might save you a little bit of juice :-P |

QUOTE(rayzy22 @ Jul 20 2011, 10:34 AM) FYI i sent my SGS2 for warranty claim to sme and can share the experience It just a precaution measure. I'm sure the tech guy at the back understand risk of rooting BUT it's the front counter that we should be worried about especially if they had a rough day. IMHO...no need to reset counter...i sent mine ,already flash couple of time and flash back to custom rom.when i received it back samsung technician already reset the counter for me (or it just new mobo so by default the counter is zero).remember samsung give free unit to cyanogen mod to develop custom rom based on SGS2,so what is the point they do that if they won't accept unit with custom rom and meant for never to be flash. in V8 already mention this.u can contact samsung and fax the receipt.at least that is what i remember... again from my experience, samsung staff straightly know whether the unit is SME or not from the sticker on the battery and inside the phone. in my case, i didn't fill e warranty form and the purchase date on my receipt is mistated (beyond the date i send for claim) but yet samsung still honor the warranty. i can conclude samsung SC is very attentive and i would rate 5 star if they can improvise notification system (like mine already done in 1/2 day but i only knew after 3rd day by calling them myself) and PR for some their counter rep (one particular like emotionless aka robot.never smile, never look at u when talk and only say short and concise word but she work fast) They can practically shove the warranty card to our face and say "Read this., its stated here no warranty cover for improper testing, installion, adjustment or any alteration or modification of any kind" while giving an evil smirk. BTW, why push our luck. Insert the jig take less then 5sec and we have a whole piece of mind. Just saying :-P |
