Drum brakes and disc brakes in the end which is better? I believe most people would say the latter is good, this seems no doubt, but in certain cases, the drum brake has its own advantages.
Let's look at what is drum brakes, what is the disc brake, what their advantages and disadvantages of it?
Their name means disc brakes, and tire fixed by a rotating disc and at the same speed, braking to promote the use of hydraulic piston brake calipers of the braking force generated, and and "disc" contact friction eventually stopped the vehicle . This much like our bikes through the gates Pimo rub wheels eventually stop the car.
Drum brakes have a shape similar to a tambourine with the cast iron pieces, with the same speed as the tire fixed and rotating. Brake, disc brake is different from the "grip" brakes, drum brakes through the hydraulic brake drum will be located within the deliberately alienate Brake Linings, Brake Linings and the rotation of the wheels with the brake drum surface within friction, resulting in a braking effect. Both have advantages and disadvantages that what it?
● advantages of drum brakes
1 drum brake manufacturing costs lower, maintenance is also very cheap, so you can see a lot of small cars has been using this design.
2. Brake drainage is better, because the entire brake system in a relatively confined space near, so susceptible to the effects of water and sediment
3, when the same power brakes, drum brakes because a larger contact area, so the braking force will get bigger, and in no case the brake booster, this effect is more pronounced.
● Brake shortcomings
1. The biggest problem is the brake drum heat recession is poor, because there was a relatively closed environment, the heat generated when braking is not dispersed in time, so long brake, the braking effect obviously deteriorated. 2. Also thanks to the drum brake Brake Linings sealed inside the brake drum, causing the brake to the brake pads wear debris can not be dispersed, affecting the brake drum to make films with the contact surface and thus affect the braking performance.
● advantages of disc brakes
1 The first is the biggest weakness of drum brakes, disc brakes because the brake calipers, brake discs were all exposed to the air, so heat recession is not obvious for a long time after the brakes can still get good braking effect.
2 Since the brake system is not sealed, so no brake wear thin cut on the brake at the deposition, the centrifugal force of the brake disc can be all water, dust and other pollution thrown out in order to maintain a certain degree of cleanliness.
3 brake discs in size after the change in heat is not the brakes pedal travel increases.
4 A comparison with drum brakes, disc brake of the simple structure and easy maintenance.
● disc brakes Disadvantages
1 disc brakes to make the friction between the plate and brake disc drum brakes over a small area, so the braking force is relatively small. If you want to increase the braking force only by increasing the diameter brake discs, or increase the hydraulic braking system to increase braking power.
2 due to brakes for better drainage, water or sediment can be reduced because of the bad situation caused by the brakes.
3 disc brakes and rotors to make the friction between chip area smaller than the drum brake, the brake force is relatively small.
4 Although the ease of maintenance, wear and tear during use, but faster, higher maintenance costs.
Look out, regardless of disc or drum brakes, has its own advantages or disadvantages, but the most significant difference between the two seems to have concentrated in the recession and heat on the brake force, brake force brake disc slightly smaller, but Heat recession better, drum brakes on the contrary
Added on August 15, 2011, 10:06 pm@shyan - depend on u.. if its for her safety.. go on.. thats use of bf..

i know ar but u need balance it back so front disc rear drum la, so ok d wat....
BTW i using 300mm disc now at front so i think good enuf d, i use front more than back.....
My usage is about 70 to 80 percent front, rear maybe the most up to 40% oni....
Balance already, didnt post say pro and cons ma, so got drum and disc = nuetral la....haha
how to translate? maybe translate already....
