Hi, I'm looking for a recommendation here.

Budget: Below 3.5k
Specs: Intel Core i5 or i7, at least 4GB RAM, more than 500GB of space.

I need one that runs fast and doesn't overheat quickly.
Will be using 3D softwares (Autodesk Maya, 3Ds Max), illustration+graphic design softwares (Adobe Photoshop, sai, Adobe Illustrator) and audio softwares (Adobe Audition, Soundbooth, Sony SoundForge).
Color and audio accuracy is a big plus for me.

Help, please? :<

These 2 will more or less fit your requirements:
Dell XPS 15, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT540M@RM3699 [JBL], upgradeable to FullHD, backlit keyboard customizable
Dell XPS 15z, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT525M (1GB) + (1920x1080)@RM3799[2.51kg], backlit keyboard

The 1st one is more powerful but doesn't come with a better FullHD screen (it'll reach ~RM4k after upgrade)
The 15z is less powerful, but has a FullHD screen... but it has heat problems haha tongue.gif

If you don't mind importing, then Sager NP5165, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT555M + (1920x1080)@RM3236, FreeDOS is the one to pick~

If need as much ram as possible, Asus N53Sv with i7 2630QM..

I think 15" laptops would be better if not planning to move the laptop around alot:
In which these would be good enough~
MSI CR650, AMD E350 + AMD HD6310@RM1399, W7S, McAfee (3 users)
Dell Inspiron 15R, i3-2310M + Intel HD3000@RM1999
Dell Vostro 3550, i3-2310M + Intel HD3000@RM2099

Just use the remaining money to extend warranty to 3 years~
I would recommend Dell more, the on-site warranty support will come in handy for your parents nod.gif

Mind stating the specs of the XPS17? Its not officially available in Malaysia.... but I did saw someone selling them in Garage Sales hmm.gif
Anyway, generally in Malaysia,

Dell for much better, in-home warranty support
Sager for bang-for-buck
