It is best to play around with a fresh system.. If you've spare HD, do the necessary test on that spare HD. Surely not fun when you loose data that has been accumulated for years...

just to joint this wonderful community of hackintosh...
This is my machine specs :

- i7 2500k@4.2Ghz
- Asus p8z68-v pro
- Corsair 8GB 1333Mhz gaming ram
- MSI Radeon HD5770
- Triple boot win7(raid0)+(Snow Leopard(10.6.8)+Lion(10.7.2)one HDD)

seems works fine as far as I'm concern ,

usb 3.0 - need to do on win7,download the driver from ASUS web(USB 3.0 Boost Full Package
Version V1.00.05+Asmedia USB3.0 Controller Driver V1.14.1.0) and install.
Found this somewhere on the net that it will flash new firmware to the Asmedia
chips.Back into the mac just install the kext from MB for NEC/Renesas.Found
that noticeable speed improvement if compare with 2.0 port.

Bluetooth - seem working when pairing with my Garmin-Asus M10 winmo phone.

Wifi - using asus N10 usb adaptor(free when buy the mobo)

now looking for doing raid0....is it possible just using onboard ctrler?

tot31 has done the RAID0 installation but no idea if that is software or hardware configuration though. Check few pages before this page for tot31's posts.

yup its on page 19....but he not mentioned which config though..
btw did you manage to up the usb 3.0 port yet?
here my screenshoot of my system



notice the usb super-speed bus...seems the usb 3.0 is working and yet
the speed can be notice compare to 2.0 port.
also from the screenshoot...I cannot complete the xbench bench..it indicates
that still running but after wait almost half an hour still nothing happen...just few
scores are appear only...any idea?

edit - found that stuck during Thread Test...if test individually(others bench)
can complete...any idea?

I haven't really pursue anything on USB3 since I don't have any peripherals that require USB3.

On xbench issue, I'm facing the same thing too. If I select everything, it will stuck.. but if I do a test individually it is okay.

On RAID0, from my reading based on insanelymac and tonymacx86 forums, I believe motherboard RAID0 is not supported, you need to do a software RAID0 but I've no idea if this can be achievable on bootable drive.

BTW, just wondering if you've got the sleep working correctly.. Mine will go into sleep cycle, sleep, wake up, sleep and wake up cycle until I awake it using my keyboard. No idea what wrong, btw, I'm on the latest BIOS.

Are you running at 4.2GHz all the time? Mine can be overclocked up to 4.7GHz (i7/2600K) but I'm using speedstepper. For now, this accomplished by patching the firmware. Was using the speedstepper but tried not taint any standard extension.

Yea...most on the net also mainly discussing on software raid and very few only on hardware
type...and futhermore not much reliable brand/selection on our country here.The only
onboard Intel raid ctrl in the net that I've found the with tuto is on ICH10R...afaik.


As for the usb 3.0,me too at first....but even on same old native device/file(external HDD/iso) I gained
almost 100% improvement 22~26MB>42~48MB.

For the sleep actually never venture more on it...last time that seems work is on SL
10.6.7,after update to 10.6.8 never get it working also....somewhere in the net say
sleep will be problem if we attach usb device...and in my cases I've lot of them plus
never use sleep function even on windows PC,just trying when many people discuss about
it on hackintosh machine.

Yes I'm running @4.2Ghz all the time on my machine,I think this is the sweet sport
for my chips/machine config...some say 2500K will shine @4.6 above but my machine
will idle @almost 50 deg,@4.2 my machine can running on lower than default voltage...

I am using Mac OS X software RAID0 for both my bootable disks (2 hdds) and data disks (3 hdds). There is a guide on tonymac's forum on how to insatall boot loader on RAID0 drives.

noob alert !! can i direct install lion os or i need to install SL 1st b4 i can update to lion?

If you've a prepared installer, you don't need SL to install Lion. Only reason for the SL is to buy the Lion upgrade since it doesn't come in DVD.

Help me on something. I got a Dell Latitude E5420 from PTJ. Successfully install the Lion, every things works perfectly. The only problem is, i can't get Dual Display on it. The VGA port seems like not functioning. QE/CI is functioning, but still no output on VGA display.

And yeah, i'm not using any dsdt, just use GraphicEnabler as it has intel hd3000, so didn't want to do much works

Usually on desktop pc VGA port also no work well ...all depend...hard to say , sometime is ok sometime black screen
only if using DVI port or DVI to VGA converter (if using vga cable) will no hv any problem
bout ur problem... GraphicEnabler wont help u..i think u hv to try EFI Strings or DSDT (need to edit or mod to make vga port )
hv u try to mod and add the vga port vendor ID (vga port and onboard display vendor ID is different ) on AppleIntelHD3000Graphics.kext ...info.plist ??

as i'm using laptop, the only port available is HDMI and laptop display.as i got no HDMI monitor, so i cant try on VGA only. most solution found is they change the AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext hex files, which they exchange the internal LDC display port to VGA. But i need both. And it quite complicated for understanding what they discuss about
For AppleIntelHD3000Graphics.kext, my vendor ID is already stated in the kext, so not change it. EFI Strings also no luck. Or maybe i do it wrong

The only things left is edit the DSDT. Man.. If DSDT, i passed. Have no idea how to understand the part in it.

Added on December 29, 2011, 4:42 pmOk. Problem solve. Seems like i mod the hex file in AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext wrongly last time. Today change the port for HDMI to VGA port in the hex, and its work. The only downside now is my HDMI port are not functioning. Hmm i'm not use it anyway

Guys , how could I discover that my lappy is compatible for hackintosh ? My fren tried to install in his acer desktop but failed too.. as he said the prob is video card not compatible and probably proc too.. it stucks at loading.. only Apple logo been seen den stuck there forever.. I read through some of the guides but they nvr mention about hardware compatible problem.. just gave some links and I hv no idea wat they are..

for me i installed on a separate hard disk

nak guna baru cucuk sata cable. safer..tak payah penin2 kpala buat dual boot cause im scared gonna mess up with mbr etc

for trial purpose i suggest using separate clean disk. later on when u ok and satisfied with the system can continue do a clean installation again with dual boot
