Haha, I tot tat the ckd mid size sedan passat is going to b priced at arnd 180,190k region, so for a full size phaeton maybe arnd 280,290k region since the cbu PCC is 260k.

The Phaeton is definitely not priced at RM280k, 100% sure. Why?

In Singapore, Golf GTI is SGD$190k, Golf R is SGD$204k, the Phaeton there is SGD$310k, thats the price range of the S class Mercedes.

erm, Golf GTI selling for rm210k here, its $190k in sg, so its 0.9 ratio of our 210k.

taking the price of phaeton in sg, and multiply with 1.1 ratio, it turns out to be rm341k. so u're saying the price should be around that region for a cbu unit ? or approaching rm500k price tag as i think the base line model of S class selling arnd $350k in sg.

GTI $190k -> RM210k
S300 $350k -> RM650k

Very simple la. The Touareg 3.6 V6 is selling for SGD 272k in Spore and RM 428k in Msia. Taking that formula, roughly the price of Phaeton 3.6 V6 (SGD 310k) will be around RM 490k. Dont forget there is another version, the Phaeton 4.2 V8 LWB selling for SGD 359k and that should translate to about RM 567k in Malaysia. Level and specs wise, yes its on par with the S class and 7 series but VW should be position it lower in Msia if they want to penetrate the Executive/Towkay segment. Cheapest S class (S300L) still selling for about RM 660k, still nowhere near the performance of the Phaeton 4.2 V8

Its a totally different class, its like comparing a BMW 3 series or a Merc C class with the BMW 7 series and Merc S class. Then again, the Phaeton is not meant to compete really against those marques' category

DANG... was driving this morning and stopped during a traffic jam. Notice that there is smoke coming out from the bonnet! Check the radiator temp (90C) and oil temp at (95C).... and then found out some funny noise from the aircond...

Tested with the bonnet open, without aircond - no smoke. With aircond on, the smokes starts coming out.

Sigh.. sending it to VW to rectify! just 1.5 months old! Anyone did suffer from the same problem before??

Ouch I feel for you bro, that sounds quite dangerous. So far yours seems to be the first problem with the smoke. I know another guy who had a bad smell with the aircon instead but no smoke.

While driving polo last sunday and got tailgated by big bro Golf GTi on Federal. hahahaha
