I suggest skip the current BD and wait for Enhanced BD in 2012 or next gen BD, as Ivy Bridge coming soon by Intel

Most important thing is they should fix their power consumption at OC levels, it is too high....thanks to its 2 Billion transistors

QUOTE(cloudwan @ Oct 13 2011, 09:44 AM)
Agree with you, to say its a total failure isn't really correct, coz from most of the benchmark it seems when mostly heavily threaded it does excels almost on par with 2600k but alas its single threaded & IPC is the biggest weakness.. demmm..  sweat.gif
Hmmm figuring maybe skipping this generation of BD, maybe wait for piledriver later on.. still if hands too itchy maybe wanna test ther FX4xxx, bwahahahaha tongue.gif
Just love their ram bandwidth & ram oc, dual channel 1600mhz already on par with tri-channel 1066mhz.. smile.gif
*
IMO this is due to the fact they they want to constraint themselves to the same socket, Piledriver rumoured to be 10-15% better..add that to current conditions, still behind. Imagine when IvyBridge comes, Intel will be even further ahead.

What is the best AMD AM3 processor to upgrade to with good overclocking capability?
Currently using AMD 4200+ from my old desktop overclocked it by 200 mhz only.

thanks
*
to go for an AM3/3+ processor, you will need a mobo that supports it though...

depends on how much you want to OC it...the newly release batch of processors (AMD FX) can definitely OC..but performance is er..... doh.gif unless it is for gaming hmm.gif

Older Black Edition (BE) processors (ie. PhenomII) are also quite OC-able

thanks for your reply bro  thumbup.gif  when i try boot into bios i see my temp is like 50 degree o.O is this more accurate than the software - coretemp?
*
bios should be from mobo sensors unless it is individual cores then it is directly from the sensors in the chip

hwmonitor

<55C should be ok

Temperatures look fine indeed. But it is too low for my expectation. I was thinking like 60 degree since I am only using Hyper TX3 tower fan =/

Thanks for your help bro, really appreciate it!

lol doh.gif

low temps means no need to worry so much la...

hurm, i retry again this morning, following this guide

it says to overclock Ram, followed by CPUNB, later on CPU. i just finish prime95 for sharp 3 hour. any other setting i change from this, will give me crash reboot, or core 3 n 4 worker stopped in prime95.

this is my current settings:
user posted image

if i try again, by overclocking cpu first and lowered the ram freq, will i gain more clock for cpu n CPUNB? thanks for ur reply.

p/s:now my; vcore = 1.39v, vcpunb = 1.28v, Vdram = 1.66v

i have tried CPUNB 2360mhz, vcpunb till 1.5v, still crashreboot. (sometimes when enter windoes, it reboot, soemtimes crash till blendtest with prime95).
also tried CPU 3332mhz, vcore till 1.43v, same result as above.
*
how come 3 cpu-z showing same tab? sweat.gif

cpu-nb can just increase the multi, no need to touch HTT (FSB = intel term)

lower ram so that you it doesnt interfere in finding the limit

QUOTE(chaics85 @ Nov 18 2011, 09:29 AM)
guys.. i unlock and OC my proc. phenom II 555 to B55 @ 3.8ghz at 1.37v.
i only up my multiplier to x19 and bus speed at 200mhz. i stress it with OCCT for 10min. and its stable and gaming it for few hours also no crash at all. Is there a need for me to stress it again for 1-8 hours to test its stability?? 1st time OC here.. kinda noob..

i tried OC to 4.0ghz at 1.40v, it boots to windows without problem. but crash after few minutes of OCCT test. whats missing here? why cant i stable at 4.0ghz..

will post some screeny when i get back home.

spec:
Phenom II 555- now B55 3.8ghz
2 x 2gb team elite ram
MSI 990fxa-gd65
640gb hdd
gigabyte 6850 OC edition
*
kinda hard to actually hit 4ghz stable, you can try 1.45v

ops,my bad, reuploaded.altho i change a bit, start overclocking from CPU>CPUNB>RAM.
comments. thanks.
*
i suggest you put back your rams back at default first (i.e. 1333mhz 9-9-9-25)

put HTT @ 200, just adjust CPU Multiplier to OC and see how far it can go hmm.gif

I suggest you put a fan a the pwm heatsink and see hmm.gif

Let me have a look first - what am I looking at?

Added on January 1, 2012, 10:30 pmK8<->SB HT Speed 5x no need to touch
K8<->MCP HT Width v16 ^16 no need to touch also
DRAM Configuration => Set Memory Clock => Auto/Manual set to manual, should give more ram options

and a few others...

normal for giga boards to "hide" some options tongue.gif

no, change the memory clock should have options like 667, 400 etc

Sifu-sifu... I got a question here... OCing my 1100T with 880G chipset not a big matter right? why i just increase my multiplier x4 then my clock speed up 800mhz more, then when i play game it will lag than b4 oc?
& i heard someone said that amd oc is just for benchmarking... in real performance, after oc it will be lagger than non-oc... == help....
*
LOL, where u hear this kind of thing from? rclxub.gif

u sure u "increased" the multi or not? or u just set it at x4? rclxub.gif

ohmy.gif I heard it from one of my school teacher... shocking.gif yup... i just set it x4.... any problem?

Erm... not really understanding what u mean.... blush.gif

based on this pic, u should be able to see lor..

in bios should look different be is the same thing...

Your proc
Bus speed or HTT: base (not OCed) is 200mhz
Multiplier or CPU Multi: x16.5
Core speed: HTT x Multi = 200 x 16.5 = 3300 MHz

if you set your CPU multi to x4 then become 800 MHz = slower/didnt OC...
