i shocked while seeing that response time figure, whereby desktop LED large screen plus <2ms. Budget one also just <5ms, nice for movie playing, no ghost image

Probably suggest you look at T490 or P43s with 500nits HDR WQHD display, you will thanks to me. I did mine at 5K.
browse some web reviews mentioning thinkpad E series screen response time too slow , Grey to Grey and black to white
desktop LED screen minimum already <5ms, but laptop one can slow up to 40ms, no wonder some laptop movie playing makes me faint and eye strain
just now ask lenovo cs, thinkbook only got 1 ram slot, too bad, and only 8gb preinstalled, i think not worth already, barely enough run windows10
It’s not about thinkpad and certainly not exclusive to E-series.
Nowadays, unless you’re getting those gaming 144Hz screen, chances are the delay will be around 40ms something. Some low power panel like the one in T490 had even worse reaction time.
Yes, single RAM slot, so dual channel RAM is out. But at least you can pull it out and upgrade to 16GB shall the day come 8GB is insufficient for you.
Their base price fluctuate from day to another depending on the % of sales they giving.
They also have some additional floor price checking running behinds shall there be cases you configure some models below the floor price or due to unexpected discount codes usage.
For 50% still, they will mark up on the base price, so chances are you don’t really gain much discount either. Though one good thing with big % discount despite the high markup is the upgrades or configurations are also getting cheaper together, good for those that want to configure the max for their laptops.

Softmod yourself with panel from taobao, far cheaper, haha.
What surprised me is that there’s one guy modded his Y7000 (gaming laptop) with the 4k 500nits HDR display found on Thinkpad. Not sure if it’s on the whitelist in the BIOS though. From what I know is that panel not in whitelist have issue to adjust the brightness in windows.

Don’t really want the softmod later got dead pixels or color not right. I will waste more money than buy direct from Lenovo

thinkbook with 1 ram slot in 2019 really an obsolete design
dual channel is a basis for the sake of CPU and GPU
guess they would launch 2nd gen of thinkbook with dual ram slot then should be acceptable. Just don't know how the screen performs. Watching movie smoothly is basis demand nowadays, 40ms is WTF
my desktop LED monitor LG 22" below RM400 already got <5ms GTS, refresh rate is not important as no playing games, 60Hz enough. Just response time very important. thus i only watch movie on desktop monitor.

Abang thinkbook is entry level , but come with free slot and built-in ram onboard , again the ThinkPad come with 2 fans, I don’t think ThinkPad can match with this guy. Even the T590 just single fan only.

cs answered thinkbook only got 1 ram, not soldered on-board + ram slot.
who want spend 2k+ for single channel ram notebook nowadays? just for the name of Thinkbook?

Are you bought yet? Why not try to skip and look for others T495 very gooding for general usage. If you paid for RM1010 for Thinkbook 13s nothing can complain.
