No la - I know that guy - thats why kacau him hahaha
Its on standby , thats why when you open the lid - you would be instantly booted to Windows . You can just fully shut it down. Normally if you just close the lid like I do it goes into really low power mode
*
I choose to "hibernate" instead of shutdown. Saves battery and it saves the state. It's like "sleep" but since my SSD is super fast anyway

I just close the lid , the computer will end very low power mode , it will drain low % of battery. These days standby is good enough already......also your pc will hibernate after x hours
*
Perhaps I will start using standby soon. But these habbits came from using older and used thinkpads, where the battery would drain quite quickly even when on stand by. can lose about 10% over night. I found hibernating with SSD to be a great solution.

Your PC has quick power on technology - plus U series draw like 0.01W during standby , close to 0W.....
Btw you have updated all BIOS and drivers ?
Just do it from Vantage , just keep it plugged in. Your laptop is using EFI standards , so not an issue
*
Yeh, i used vantage to upgrade all the drvers including bios (i think?). I just clicked yes to all. they did some reboots, and I allowed it to.

Nice! I was considering t480s too, for the same price to mine (RM4750) i could get 512gb vs an MX150. I chose the lighter one.

I will surely choose the carbon too if it has dgpu. Btw the T480s speaker is very bad
*
I dont use dgpu (dont game) so it was a rather simple choice for me. Not sure how bad the speaker on cx1 is without comparing it to your, but i enjoyed watching some netflix vids on it

2. Logitech MX Anywhere 2S, BT/wireless mouse, can free up 1 USB port
Logitech

hey bro,

how is the mouse? I need a dongle-less bluetooth mouse too. Yours is on the pricier side, but is it worth it?

I am looking at all these BT mice from logitech and wonder if they are good deals

I bought the MX for Rm185, and not at the full price of RM259 fr Logitech LazMall
If you are used to full size mouse, the MX is kinda small as it's meant to be a travel mouse.
It's smaller than the Rm1 Lenovo wireless mouse that comes with the Thinkpad.

I'm pretty please with it but I suggest you visit any IT accessory shops that have the Logitech mouse on display and have a feel first before you make the purchase.
*
I agree, will give them all a try, and if prices are low enough will just give back to them and buy from the shops.

*

Just got my eGPU - RTX 2070
*
Looks like a mini desktop. At that point, other than the seamless integration with your current workstation (the laptop), I do not see the appeal of an eGPU.

I will stick with my desktop for the time being, for gaming if any (not that much gaming). Plus the desktop is more easily upgradable. Although I checked benchmarks (CPUz benchmark) and found that my i5-8250u is more powerful than my Xeon 1270 v3. Both have 4 cores and HT (8 threads) and the i5 is faster despite having only 15W TDP

is it normal for X1E cpu to always run at turbo boost speed..(almost 4GHz) 24 hours
even just idle also running at turbo boost speed...
is it bad for temperature to reach 100 degree?
*
Using windows? are you using "full performance" as your power plan. Can you choose "balanced" or "power saver" and report back?

I checked on CPUz and it can track the frequency "live", and I can see the multiplier reduced when the CPU is "idle" when on plans other than "full performance"

Give it a shot

I am looking at Lenovo Malaysia site and the Carbon X16 is still priced the same as what I bought for 1 month ago. Stable price so far. Will keep this notebook for a few years I guess.

Battery life about8 hours, kinda short, but acceptable. Too long it would need to be heavier.

Just buy USB-PD Powerbank. You can charge up the computer and get even more extended battery life

BTW undervolt the CPU , can go even further..i
*
PD is heavy. Id rather just carry a PD adaptor. as long as it is light

Btw, how do I go about undervolting the CPU?

Firstly get ThrottleStop - download that first and install it

Then pick option 4 , which the one that says battery

Turn off turbo boost

speed shift epp set it to 180 [higher value means , clock down frequently]
Then click FIVR , in CPU Core , offset voltage - -50mV or you can set it to -25mV , later if you are greedy you can try -75mW

Save it and see the improvement in battery life and the heat smile.gif
*
Done. I think I followed your guide to the letter. We will see how it goes from here.

Btw, do I need to keep Throttle Stop running after I've "saved" it? Do I need to loan it up after each restart?

I need help

I always have a logitech RF receiver attached to my USB port on my X1C6. When I close the lid the pc will go to sleep/hybrid, but if I move the mouse the pc will be turned on even if the lid is closed.

I dont want to always have to turn my mouse off, I might forget about it sometimes.

ANy way to disable "wake from sleep" except for:

1. opening the lid
2. pressing the power button

Thanks in advance

Go to Device Manager - just search.

Look for the right mouse - if you not sure just unplug the mouse plug it back. Find the right thing. Once you have found the right mouse , double click and uncheck allow this device to wake the computer

Done - it will not wake the device , when you move the mouse or something

*
Thanks, but I cannot find the "power management" tab in ALL of my mouse and keyboard entries in the device manager.

ive done this before on other PCs, not sure why this X1C6 can't do this anymore...
