QUOTE(Kiding @ Oct 20 2006, 12:33 AM) Notebook Hardware Control will do the jobs. check it out here NHC 2.0well, since you already have the thinkpad utilities installed on your lappy, wouldnt double effort to run NHC as well? Got that installed too, but find out that the power management thingy is overlapping my thinkpad's one... so got it uninstalled.

just brought 2 unit of Corsair 512MB ddr2 667MHz ram. When i plug in both ram, my r60 failed to power on.
i will only power on when i mix 1 unit of corsair with my existing kingston 256MB 667MHz ram or just by 1 corsair itself.
wonder why i cant power on with both corsair ram?
help!!!!!!

QUOTE(wtm0325 @ Dec 1 2006, 06:29 PM) to make sure it's not the ram problem, u tried both corsair stick w the mixture of existing kingston i doubt the incompatibility issue, make sure u slot the ram firmly, if it's really ram problem, go back and exchange with 1gb single stick, dual channel runs faster theoretically, but we wont notice in the real usage unless u r do bency i tried mine w 1gb kingston mix w other ram no problem, anyhow now i'm using 1gb single stick, looking to upgrade later thanks for ur idea! i tried and found out that one of the corsair ram having problem, cant start the pc by itself. tomorrow will go to the pc fair again to change a new one. thanks bro!!! however, dual channel ddr did makes some different! u can google for more info. QUOTE(wtm0325 @ Dec 2 2006, 08:00 AM) no problem btw how bout u google the benefit of dual channel for me? i always feels tht dual channel is not important for laptop, as the limitations of chipset and processor eg 400mhz, 533mhz, 667mhz, plus 2 stick ram = more power consumption if there's a choice giving 1.5gb ddr2 533 single channel vs 1gb ddr2 667 dual channel, i'll rather go for higher ram capacity unless i'm on a desktop, dual channel will give more significant result, as the proc is 800mhz or higher, with additional OC, we'll only make use of dual channel maybe i'm wrong, but thts my analysis so far since u helping me a lot.... here you go: Dual Channel DDR Dual Channel DDR White PaperSo, with Dual Channel the memory speed doubles as you can check on the table below. Memory Rated Clock Maximum Transfer Rate Dual Channel Maximum Transfer Rate DDR2-533 533 MHz 4,264 MB/s 8,528 MB/s DDR2-667 667 MHz 5,336 MB/s 10,672 MB/s This post has been edited by superlfc: Dec 2 2006, 09:19 AM

QUOTE(Kiding @ Sep 29 2006, 11:11 PM) You need to have Intel Matrix Storage Driver installed on your winxp first before changing to AHCI mode. I don't have any problem with the AHCI even upgrade BIOS version from 1.04-1.05-1.06. BTW, i heard some people tested the compatible mode is even faster than AHCI mode, but i never compare it betweens these two modes, probably you can run a test first and let us know the result. I have changed mine BIOS SATA setting from AHCI to COMPATABILITY mode, under the advise from the IBM engineer. He told me that when I need to do the rescue and recovery, I might face problem under AHCI model. Normal using is ok. Wonder what is your say?

QUOTE(wtm0325 @ Dec 21 2006, 06:01 PM) i used AHCI as it should runs faster theoretically, but we cant sense the difference in real life according to the IBM service engineer, you will face problem in AHCI mode if you going to perform the rescue and recovery task, which will cost you dearly. I cant afford that, so I changed to COMPATABILITY mode.

QUOTE(Austin @ Dec 22 2006, 06:09 PM) I solved this problem with 2 solution, for r60 comes with PC DOS only, I integrate all latest chipset drivers into the Windows installation CD. Another solution is, ask for recovery media pack from shop but most likely they won't provide as free. Those media pack is created with XP Pro licensed R60 which is priced at RM4k+. u got the CD or not? I want to buy....

QUOTE(Doltan @ Dec 24 2006, 02:46 AM) If you use the Power Manager, you can set it to start and stop charging at certain %. Eg, I set mine to start charging at 40% and stop at 70%. It will remember this setting even if you turn off your Thinkpad. Only if you turn off the power or unplug, then plug in again without booting to windows, then it will by default switch to charging to 100%. I only change the settings to charge to 100% when I need to bring it out. I have kept mine on these settings for more than 1 1/2 yrs, with the battery in and connected to AC power, and my battery life has only dropped by ~15%, and still enough to last me a few hrs on a full charge. I think this will be more preferred to losing everything when there is a blackout due to trying to squeeze abit more out of the battery life. You might want to consider which is more important to you: losing your valuable data because you cannot save before the power failure, or your battery. good point. I will do that to my lappy. Thanks for sharing....
