QUOTE(smon80 @ Nov 26 2014, 10:50 AM) Hi , just done my conceal piping. But concern on the water leaking. They make hole on my concrete roof and lay the piping then cement it back. But not sure what cement they use but they said no worry no leaking. For the piping out from root top, can we use the silocon to seal the gap then apply the water proof on it? Why can't just hack the vertical wall and go through by the vertical wall ? 1 hole instead of 2 hole. You can just silicon seal the hole. But there is 1 problem. After some yrs, the insulation will start to crack due to expose to sun. (if that area is outside) And the leaking will start.

If silicone you referring as the silicone use for the glass, i doubt it will work. You need waterproofing from sika, or PYE.

So they cant go through vertical wall. silicon seal and plater with water proof? I haven go and check bcoz just done only.

I haven go and check bcoz just done only. The black insulation that cover the pipe is a foam. It is soft and cannot stand to UV expose for many yrs. It will brittle and start to crack. The rain water is staying on the ground and not flowing fast away. If the pipe from the vertical wall, than the rain not easily sip in. You need to do additional thing to secure the water from leak in. Anyway the leak won't be that fast. Silicon + water proof paint can last longer. Very much depend on your skill. Actually for piping this way, there is a proper way to open the hole .

If the black insulation is also in the concrete slab, good luck. That insulator over time will shrink and deform and will create opening for water to slip in.

I got quoted recently by my wetwork contractor: Air-cond Installation price: 1.0HP - RM300.00 1.5HP - RM350.00 2.0HP - RM450.00 (If aircond not installed by him, water exit point RM120/job) Copper Pipe (concealed) - per ft 1.0HP - RM18.00 1.5HP - RM22.00 2.0HP - RM25.00 Electrical Wiring (concealed) - 15A RM220 per job So for 1.5HP installation with "standard distance": RM350 + RM 220 (22*10ft) + RM220(15A wiring) = RM790 Is this reasonable? This is from my main con who is also doing kitchen extension for me, total lump sum work about RM 50-60k. This post has been edited by Benster124: May 19 2015, 01:23 AM

Should do all the piping first than do the plaster ceiling. Lastly install the aircond. Anyway why want to put the piping in plaster ceiling ? Is better to conceal inside the wall
