Hey bro~!!
Have been extremely busy with works and life but fishing never ends. You should be able to see me in regular Rod N Line magazine mah...

Just slowed down LYN for the past 3 years nia...

Added on April 19, 2012, 10:28 amHi Fellas,
Perhaps allow me to share my thoughts on BC and micro lures.

Knowing the micro lures are light, therefore the composition of your rod, reel and line(plus a little skillset) is crucial.

To the general caster, anything lesser than 4gram is considered finesse fishing. It does not matter if you are using a small spoon, a softplastic or even hard body lure. It's the weight talk now.

Rod
Use a lighter rod like 4~12lb. To successfully cast out a micro lure you need the flick of the rod tip to push the lure out.

Reel
Gotta use a slightly highend reel. It's the freespooling factor here. If the spool does not rotate freely and easily, it causes much CBH aka birdnest, as the line gonna be eaten back to the reel at higher RPM of the spool. The spool need to be easily reaching certain RPM, not those slow pickup RPM and reach high RPM at later stage. This causes blacklash.

Line
Use lighter line. Eg 4lb or anything below 10lb. Dont worry about busting the line, most of our braided lines are under-rated. It may state 10lb but the breaking strains will reach around 24lb!!! Unless the line are IGFA rated, where it will break before it reaches the mentioned poundage. I personally have landed a 5.2kg wild toman with 4lb IGFA rated line. Almost got into world IGFA record tho.

Lastly, the skill set. Practise makes perfect. Hope this helps.

Hi there,
you may consider Kepong Tackle. Besides the good range of variety, the prices are pretty competitive too..

Alternatively, you can let me know what are the models you want to find, i could help you obtain some pricings since Pflueger is distributed by Purefishing and Okuma by Rapala VMC. I got good contacts there

Good luck.

It's just a good one stop place. Many of the places you cant ask for more service too smile.gif just some common mentality of any products.

Am checking the Okuma prices for you. Btw, what rod are you referring to?

As for the patriach, you are referring to casting or spinning?

fish valley seems to be a good place for TT. Plenty of carpark, fishes are abundance and food are good. We can bring a full loaded icebox with beer tongue.gif

Bro Viox,
Do let me know if there's anything you want me to assist smile.gif

Hi All Anglers,
Due to the reason of ORGYnizing a TT for fellow anglers here in LYN, i have communicated with the owner of Jurassic Pond at Rawang.

The pay pond is famed for it's ferocious Toman and Haruan. It does not have any other type of fish besides these two Channa family. However, the pay pond is only meant for catch and release.

For the benefit of LYN anglers, he is willing to assist in making this a successful outing. He is offering RM100 for 4 hours of fishing. The best biting time would be from 4pm onwards till 8pm.

My proposal to the LYN anglers, is to pot luck with beer/drinks while fishing. In this case, everyone here in LYN will get to place a name to the face smile.gif

I also intend to bring my sponsor for you guys to test some Rapala lures as well as some Shimano gears. There will not be any freebies but more towards the exposure and test of the rod/reel/lures.

What say you fellas?

Bro Viox,
Perhaps a Saturday would do? Please propose date

How big Popper shud I use for 3-5kg gt? 10-15cm?
*
Bro Viox,
Are you heading to P9?

If P9 GT, you dont need a 100~150g poppers. You just need those regular size of 7~12cm dog or pencil for these GT. Ultimately, it's more towards the action that is being produced, rather than the size and weight.

Malay boatmen?
My trip, we're following Chinese fisherman.. his asking us to use atleast 80lbs braidlines, well I understand that it make sense when he doesn't wan our line to be cut by the corals, but isn't 80lbs a lil exaggarate?
*
Bro Viox,
You are performing jigging or bottom at P9?

If jigging, 20lb is sufficient ler.
If bottom, i'm unsure as i dont use baits. I'm a lure guy! biggrin.gif

Added on May 8, 2012, 6:07 pmJust a thought in regards of this TT...

Since we are having the TT, might as well make it more interesting in such that there is a mini family competition amongst us?

My proposal: Additional RM10 per angler.

Winner will grab 70% of the amount, 1st runner up will be 30% of the amount.

Otherwise, a cert of appreciate for the gathering? or a plaque for the winner if monetary not viable. I could seek for assistance from LYN... smile.gif

Seeking input from the Angler's of LYN community

The only problem with BC setup i find is that it's freaking difficult to almost impossible to cast micro lure as far compared to a spinning setup. The spool just wouldnt get going...

No problem on casting ler..

You just need the right matching setup. I am casting 2.5g with a PE1~3 rod, 30lb and still i'm getting about 30m
