Hi fellas. Im new here. Before this I only fish for fun, maybe once in a blue moon...but recently since i just 'inherited' a better rod from someone, thought of investing and putting more time into this hobby.

Anyway, recently i got this Shimano Lurematic rod. Looks quite new. I think it's a 6ft+. Was wondering how this rod would perform? What type of fishing game is it suitable for?

And the main question, I don't have a reel. Need some recommendations from the sifu's here? Budget around 200 la. Thanks!

jsut got back from seksyen 24 pond. 4+ hours = catching nothing.

yeah. cud b. but the indon worker at the pond said something wrong with the fishes that night, not biting. i counted only 5 strikes the whole time i was there. and every shed was full. katak reels all damn silent except for one guy who caught a mekong. oh well, went there pay tuition fees. haha. did learn a thing or two though.

what bait suitable for pacu? i heard about using oil palm seeds but dunno where to get them la. anyone knows where?

oh ic. i got my first hand experience with a pacu last sunday at the dam at bukit cerakah. first time there so didnt expect what will happen. whole morning casting get nothing. in the end play float with some bread from my breakfast. suddenly while waiting for my friend to get the pacak, my line buzzed out like a rocket. was barely ready for it because i just cast the line and the rod was still in my hand. went for like 5 secs or more before the line broke off. but seriously what a rush. some guy told me was a pacu and gave me some pointers. casted a few more times but no more bites and my roti also finishg. will come by hopefully this weeekend and try another go at it. this time more prepared with a better leader and baits. haha

Ahh okay. Will try again this weekend if I'm not too busy.
