Can I know is there much difference in the foundation in engineering in April and July. I know contents are the same. I mean most july intake students, will they find some difficulties?. Since April intake has 12 weeks of lesson, but July intake only 10. And is maths in FIE hard? I only managed a B+ in add maths for SPM.
*
July intake has only around 1 week break between Sem 0 and sem 1. The sem 0 for July intake is shorter that April intake's but its only Sem 0, so there's not much difference. As for maths, sem 0 foundation maths is a bit easy. Calculus in sem 1 and sem 2 are a bit harder. But you are constantly advised to put more effort and time on math subjects. And make sure to do your weekly tutorials on time. You will have opportunities to clear out any difficulties during the tutorial classes. It depends on you. If you feel like you need to put more effort, and you actually do it, you will be fine.

Enjoy.

Thanks for your feedback. smile.gif Okay, so the tough parts only starts in sem 1 onwards?. What's tutorials? Session where we clear our doubts? How big is the tutorial class?. I suppose u alrd done your FIE? Doing which engineering course now?
*
Yes, sem 0 is considered to be a bit easier other sems. Tutorials classes are 1 hour classes held every week, during which the teacher discuss the previous week tutorials(exercises). The tutorial classes are held in smaller groups, like 20 students or so. Quizzes are held during tutorial classes. You will have about 3 quizzes for each math subject.

I am still doing my FIE. I was last year April intake, and my final sem is ending in end of may. I'll be doing either E&E or Mechatronic.

Okay okay. What happens if I can't answer the quiz? Hahaha. Lecturers will placed the students into which tutorial class?. Alright smile.gif. You are doing the Meng I supposed? So upon graduation, you will be recognised as masters graduate?
*
Quiz only test you on topics you have already learned. If u did your exercises, you shouldn't have much problem. Students are put into diferrrent tutorial classes acording to ur class grouping assigned to you. You don't have to worry about that.

The MEng question is THE question of almost every engineering student in this school. However I'm not so sure of the answer yet. One of the vetaran seniors in the forum posted a detailed explanation on this. Try searching in this forum or previous versions of this forum. But you'll have plenty of time to think about this.

how's the pharmacy course at unmc? smile.gif very interested in it
*
Nottingham is known for its pharmacy school. After your first two years in semenyih, you are REQUIRED to complete the remaining two years in UK. It's up to you whether that's a good thing or not. I'm not doing pharmacy but i know the course is top-notch. After 4 years, you'll get ur MPharm degree.

Sadly, that's all the information i have.

how long that lesson last, through out the whole foundation? or just a few lesson? is it true that theres no break between?(as marked in the timetable)

I'm sure it will be pretty boring + it is on saturday.*dying*

Sem 0 do malaysia studies. Sem 1 do moral studies. Some lectures may change the dates to friday for u to have long weekends. There's lunch break in between and usually lectures give few mini-breaks in between or dismiss early.

Unlike many other institutes, u have to put some effort for these subjects here. Just do ur assignments properly and study for the tests, especially if u hate these subjects cause you won't wanna retake the tests and risk being forced to retake the module. The subject is boring but the two lectures are quite good(assuming you get Ms.Evans or Dr.Tew).

I always hear stories from my friends who did their compulsory subs elsewhere, so damn relax.
Sadly not the case here, where The Dynamic Duo of Compulsory Subjects run this town.

u sure? i'm afraid later i failed the test and have to go for longer math session  sad.gif

Your maths average standard can edi, they just ask the same stuff from ur school years, just ur basic understanding of the topics ur learn in school. But longer maths session isn't too bad, some people actually prefer having an extra hour of tutorials(Not for me though tongue.gif).

Btw, take note of the wonderful words of wisdom from tanjinjack above thumbup.gif

Funny but important question here. Can any senior tell me do I need to register again when I going back UNMC to continue my second year study after this summer break? Or we just need to pay tuition fees to finance office? It's because I saw portal said we need to register for 12/13 season.
*
Yes, funny but important. Funny because I also don't know. I think need to register. I'm not entirely sure, will they email us regarding this soon?

Dear tanjinjack,
1. As we know, There is a free wireless internet coverage through the campus. Does this wireless network cover TTS5 or not? Are you satisfied of quality and speed of wireless network in the campus? Are computers in computer center connected to Internet? How about the crowd hours of Computer center?
2. I want to know about the maxis wired internet in the TTS5. How much is the download volume per month? IS there a socket in every room of buildings or it's accessible by WIFI access point?
3. Which operator do you suggest to get the sim card? Is there any shop in the TTS district who sell it or in the campus?
4. Could you describe the atmosphere of campus about using tablets by students for education purpose or ebook readers? Which brand is more common? Apple, Samsung, Kindle etc.
Thanks

If you don't mind me asking, have you decided to join Nottingham or are you still considering other options? Either way, you shouldn't be worried about these kind of specifics. I've seen you asking extremely specific questions like this before. These question does not sound like factors in choosing an university. Anyways, this is just my 2 cents. I apologize if I'm wrong or I sound rude(which is not my intention smile.gif ). icon_rolleyes.gif

Dear Zeuss,
Thanks for your comment. For your info, I have an offer for BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Sept 2012) although I have another bachelor in Industrial Engineering. At the moment I have booked a single room in TTS5 and also a ticket for 16 Sept to KL.
As you said about quality of my questions, I check every thing before doing a work, Maybe it is because of my high age. Also I should say that I was thinking about an independent Forum with classified topics or Social Network for students and applicants. I offer this suggestion to Mr. tanjinjack, But he had some reasons for disagreeing with this idea although I think we can promote it by SEO techniques and it just takes time to be popular. But I respect to his idea which is based on his experience.
Internet and communication is the most important thing in today's life. We we arrive to Malaysia, Buying a sim card is one of the first thing that we should do. These exact questions can help other friends too.
So, my questions are not for deciding about choosing UNott.
Regards
*
You're right, I apologize for previous comment. smile.gif

So while you're waiting for tanjinjack's reply, I try to help answer some of your question.
1. Campus internet coverage does not cover TT5. The campus internet is fast and stable in my opinion. The computer labs are connect to the internet. The labs do get crowded during assignment period or exam period, but normal days, there shouldn't be a problem looking for a seat among the few computer rooms.

3. There's is a shop in campus which sells Digi SIM cards. iinm, you can buy SIM cards from the airport as well. Not sure about operator comparisons. I use Digi fyi.

4. Not many use tablets but most popular is iPad, but i doubt it's solely for educational purposes tongue.gif. I don't find tablets an asset in the environment here. A laptop is crucial but other than that, i don't see the need for tablets. Of course this is only according to my needs.

Hope I could help. biggrin.gif
