it's so late now, even if you got text book also no use. you need revision kit or past year questions to help you pass. notes will be easier for you to remember

For all the senior over here, can i know how u all prepared for the F8 final exam? What is the "MUST" for F8?By doing all F8 PYQ will it pass?pls HELP!!!thx
*
memorise those audit assertions, make sure you apply them in your answers. if it asks bout internal controls, you must think of SPAMSOAP. must know what audit procedures to conduct when auditing different type of items in FS

u MUST have good bullshitting skill & imagination coz question is very subjective...

doing pyq may help.. but examiner has changed recently

p/s: i am doing f8 too  grumble.gif
*
good command of english is an advantage, relate your points to the scenarios. bullshitting is more useful when you go for P3

U took F9 last sitting? The ques are like  icon_question.gif  right?  brows.gif
They say P4 and P6 are difficult (what I hear from my seniors).  P5 and P7 are the easier ones
*
i made the correct choice then, p5 and p7 rclxms.gif

no la... i mean after seeing past year theory question.. sweat.gif

taking in tis sitting  sad.gif

you know how to calculate NPV, CAPM should be able to secure half of the marks to pass. Others have to depend on your luck and knowledge. The syllabus is quite wide, those areas which i found difficult are business valuation, financial derivatives especially hedging

i took f9 last sitting
long questions... marks hard to gain
but not really difficult
normal standard
i think u need theories to help u pass
f9 is like 40% calc 60% theories
*
of course cannot ignore theories, i prefer theories more than calculations. those NPV and CAPM come out almost every sitting. the others are more difficult to predict. F9's syllabus is quite wide actually but not too hard to pass

Kasturi is pretty cheap. or can try elitejaya also. both much cheaper than sunway! sunway uni now increase the resource fee from 300 to 400 sad.gif..And the tuition fees all also increased already..
BTW, seniors...is it possible to pass f7 based on calculations alone? I hear so many seniors who passed saying just focus on q1,2 and 3 is enough to pass.. rclxub.gif
*
the main concentration is on Q1 to Q3 but there are theories in between them, you can't pass without knowing the theories/doing analysis. However Q4 and Q5 may decide whether you pass/fail with marginal marks. Therefore you must try to complete all the questions unless you really don't know how & what to write

i mean on my sittings

the conso part
not difficult
maybe theories part abit hard

as for the section B
i think quite ok oso la for last sitting
IFRS 9 came out as predicted
*
last round was predictable but not this time. as for Q1, we don't know what will come out this time since SOFP came out in the last sitting, this time may be SOFP again or SOCI or combo. most likely not SOCF

upon analysis of past year questions of P7, I've come to a conclusion that the examiner, Lisa Weaver, tried to advice ppl for not joining audit by using example of 'the audit manager has been taken ill ' for few times already in recent years. LOL
*
ya, i have noticed that too. BTW, make sure you read the latest article in Oct by Lisa Weaver, that may be the tips to pass biggrin.gif

i think the important tips is the flow of procedures at the completion stage

this p7 paper

really alot of things to write

damn i left 6 marks completely blank for question 5

and question 1 some part not completely attempted

sure not enough points

doh.gif
*
i also spent too much time on Q1 but i think not comprehensive enough. also not enough time to finish everything, at least i tried to answer all.

should not have chosen to answer Q3 as it has 3 parts, waste my time reading again and again. Q4 should be much easier. overall i think enough to pass

no doubt the accounting standards are quite easy. that Q5 IAS 38 worths 12 marks, which can be said is a gift

Not fast man..Assuming I pass these papers and continue taking 2 p papers per sem..Without failing I could only graduate at 23..Whereas those who started out same year with me had already graduated last sem sad.gif

When I took this course I was thinking I would finish faster than my degree friends but turns out most of them has graduated this sem.

Anyway no other choice but to push forward! Good luck all!
*
aiyo, you all are so funny la. i am elder than you all, also not yet complained, you all so young make so much noise. really beh tahan......

for the past 3 years, i only pass 1 paper per sem due to i am working. there's nothing for you all to complain
