Hey guys, couple of questions:

1. I tested sygic aura gps just now but the arrow doesn't move..and it says internet connection lost (i'm not on data plan right now). Does sygic require an internet connection to work?

2. Saw SanDisk 16gb micro SD card just now at AEON home centre for rm85.90..is that a normal price? I saw kingston 1 RM149 O.O Both are class 4. Is SanDisk a good brand for micro SD?

Hey..if im using the galaxy S2 for streaming once in a while,going fb,surf..chat..whatsapp and skype once in a while..do u think 500 MB is enough monthly..cos once i get stuck to maxis..no turning back..so want to make the right choice on the plan..i have wifi at home at work and at college..

I STRONGLY suggest you readup the features of the roms you wish to flash. You will get yourself into trouble if you don't do that. Do not just jump in to flash the easy way trying to follow some rules without understanding the features of the rom you wish to flash

The different roms in XDA has these features :

1. Some will wipe clean your phone while some will nbot
2. Some will auto root for you whiloe some will not
3. Some requires you to root it yourself after flashing using an insecure kernel method
4. Some roms required you to wipe clean ( ie factory/hard reset ) ; some will not - is optional step. But my advise is it is better to wipe clean ( hard reset ) so you start with a new plate , again is optional

I always recommend for new users, the easiest way of getting yourself started :

ROOT - easiest method use Supercurio

Rom flash - start with Litening - as using it , you learn how to use Odin. Also flashing this rom will NOT wipe your phone clean

Recovery - use Chainfire v4.0 . You will need recovery installed if you wish to do a nandroid backup and full restore of your rom. Some roms required you to flash using RECOVERY mode and not through Odin. Some roms even auto installed Chainfire recovery when you flash it

So the GOLDEN RULE is please READ the features of the rom you want to flash - check whether it use Odin or through recovery ??? Does it install recovery auto for you ?? Does the rom wipe clean your phone ??

Another GOLDEN rule :

ALWAYS ALWAYS wipe clean cache partition and in ADvanced mode - clear Dalvik cache BEFORE you flash a new rom - this will avoid reboots keep looping or phone fail to boot after flash. This also means it is in a way compulsory you install a RECOVERY first before attempting to flash a new rom. If you are lucky you could have a successful flash; if you are unlucky you will curse yourself because you want a fast way

hi,

for the public wifi, mostly there using MYBROADBAND. u will need to register first. Close ur current webpages, then open the new page. It will direct u to the mybroadband page. U can register & sign in there..

streaming use up alot of ur quota. 500 MB is not enough.
If we frequently FB, chat, whatsapp, skype. 500MB should be enough.

U can try avoid using 3G while at places with Wifi. that saves ur quota.

Just try out yourself first. I easily useup 500MB in a few days. This depends on how long and how much data you are using.
What you can do, install free app 3G Watchdog or Data Counter Widget - monitor your data downloads using this; after a few days you will have a better idea whether you can survive with 500 MB

As in any GPS software, you need to have either wireless or 3G activated first to download the few kb of data to get it started off. If your 3G is off , it will not work. Once launched, it does not use any more of your 3G, doesn't need internet connection - don't worry it only cost you few sen to boot start , only few kb is needed ; most telco charge 10 sen for 10kb However it is wise to have 3G on, so your GPS lockup is always fast and accurate - again this does not use up much data

Yesterday from 11am-5pm+ , at Midvalley..i keep saw ppl q-ing up to sign for the plan.
I think yesterday midvalley still got stock that why ppl are willing to q abit for the phone.

If you sign up from Maxis with plan, you'll get some rebates but only for 1 year warranty.

If you buy direct from Samsung/SEP, you'll get 2 years warranty and a free bluetooth headset. No rebates.

For me, if I want to go with plan, I only want the RM1799 package with Maxis, about RM300 different only. So I decided to buy direct from SEP.

Sandisk is reputed to be the best and most expensive. Just like clothes I buy cheap - so i use cheap DNA cards - so many years no problem. While Sandisk fail me twice within few months using it

It seems that Docomo (Japan telco) asked the JP Aerospace to launch a SGS2 into space with a space balloon, can see it at http://space-balloon.net/ , you can go to their site and enter some msg to be shown on the SGS2 when it is in space on 15/16/17th July~! Need FB or Tweet acc to do that...
