QUOTE(feng yun @ Apr 8 2012, 08:02 AM)
Dear all K5 lucky owner,
How bright is the DRL? Coz last time during one U road show, somehow I feltl that it is not that bright?

Anyway I am 90% getting this beauty because the bloody Elantra doesn't have dark blue in 1st batch  cry.gif
Been waiting for more than a year and I finally reached my limit, no more waiting! No more! But I still like Elantra...

For me best c segment to own is Elantra and best d segment to own is K5  rclxms.gif
*
It is bright enough to serve the purpose. You will see the different during night time. IMO, if it is too bright, it will glare other driver's eyes.

QUOTE(dyhard @ Apr 8 2012, 11:34 AM)
Dear K5 owners,

Any idea where i can do the test drive for k5 in kl or pj area?
*
I test drove at Az Master, Serdang Jaya and bought from there too.

TOTALLY AGREED!!    rclxms.gif
And irangan, money well spent  thumbup.gif I like most of the mods u applied, they are not too extreme, nice smile.gif can u upload some photos of the exterior and interior of ur car?
And one question, I heard the m'sia optima's rear light is not really the same as the ones in other countries? If so, in which way?  hmm.gif
*
Wanted to go extreme but on hold due to warranty and wallet issue biggrin.gif

My car nothing special. Those that came for TT saw my car and no difference from them. Cuz most of mod are in stealth mode. Haha.

QUOTE(feng yun @ Apr 10 2012, 10:20 AM)
Good morning guys,

Since we are on page 107 already. Can some one start new "K5 owner" thread?
*
Anyone that real active can create one? CM98?

QUOTE(ykhean @ Apr 10 2012, 11:06 AM)
Hi there,

Anybody reckon Naza will bring in the K5 turbo version into Malaysia?
*
Then K5 can compare with VW in term of speed smile.gif

QUOTE(K5WHITE @ Apr 10 2012, 11:11 AM)
dear bro irangan...
wat's the overall outcome for the soundproofing u did? much better noise reduction than changing to PS3 / AS2 tyre?
*
Subjective matters. To me, I felt that my overall driving experience is better now as it is more quiet and our infinity perform much better. If you want to feel the difference, look for me to some tea time and can fetch you around. I work in Klang smile.gif

When I changed my PS3, tyre sounds reduced by around 30-40% from my untrained ears but engine noise became more obvious. Then when I did the SP, it is just nice for me. But there is some room for improvement as I havent do the back portion of the flooring, hood, firewall and wheel arch parts yet.

Will put on hold on the SP first as I am changing my crank pulley and installing stabilizer bars first.

Some of the photo in this post is from my car. Refer Post 1 and Post 7

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Apr 10 2012, 12:33 PM)
This is a common issue. Thats why we must be careful. By putting quieter tyres, your engine sound will become more pronounced. So although u may have eradicated most of the road noise but what you get in replacement is a louder engine.

So always have due consideration before changing. The PS3 tyres arent cheap and it will set you back more than RM3K and ull still end up with the same sound levels albeit from a different source.

But then again, the PS3 is also for safety not just sound reduction.

Come on guys, stop actin like 3 yr olds, stop fighting over nothin... if u guys want to fight, pm each other...

CM98 did make a point, of course the engine sound will seem louder since the tyre noise is no longer there...

Can someone pls get back to the car...?

Oh, btw, irangan, so u just did the sound proofin to the both front floor and all 4 doors?
*
Yes.

I did for my engine bonnet too. To reduce the sound from fuel injector.

QUOTE(kevin23 @ Apr 11 2012, 07:13 PM)
Aih.. Blablabla... Just admit ur mistake lah.its ok to make mistakes. Be a man and admit it. Thenppl will respect u more.

Common sense tells u , if tyre noise 10 db and engine noise 10db, and lets say if u remove the tyre noise 10db . Will the engine noise become 12 db? Of course nolah, the noise is the same 10db ,just that our ears hear it more clearly! Not that the engine noise has become louder..silly cybermaster and his opinions. Act like a smartie pants..  doh.gif

And if u said more pronounced , why did u say engine noise louder?? Pls explain smarties pants with properties in prime locations my foot
*
You are the one that without common sense. Enough said. yawn.gif

OMG. I am feeding a troll. sweat.gif Hope you feel happy now since you got the attention that you want.

QUOTE(zapirwin @ Apr 11 2012, 07:33 PM)
Dear sifu,

I'm very interested in the car. Haven't test drive it yet. Will be doing it soon. For those sifu who had it for awhile, hows the performance and the fuel consumption?

I went and saw one last weekend. I was kinda dissappointed with the glove box coz it was unable to shut properly. The SA told me that that particular show unit was at the docks for a couple of weeks under the sun with the windows down so that affected the glove box. He promised that others dont have that problem.

I dont think his explanation makes any sense. May be due to bad QC. However one, must ask what do you guys think of the quality of the built-up of the entire car?

Thanks.
*
Performance is good though abit under powered due to 2.0cc for a segment D car but within my expectation. Can go up 180km/hr without much sweat.
Handling is very good and responsive.
Fuel consumption is ok ok compare to my previous 1.6cc altis. Around 630-650km for full tank (70ltr). Just FYI, I using RON97 Shell.

I dont have this problem at all. The glove box functioning perfectly.

Not sure how to comment on the build quality but everything is functioning perfectly and dont feel very plastic-like.

QUOTE(ken7908 @ Apr 11 2012, 08:01 PM)
I don't have the car yet, waiting next week....but I would comment that the quality of the glove box and center console not really that up to the mark. The sales guy explanation is crappy....

Anyway, overall the car really impress me....quality of others should be good. I love the seats, dash, meter....performance also better than equivalent 2.0 like Camry, especially the handling was superb.
*
Congrats~! Welcome to the club.

QUOTE(Leong FU @ Apr 11 2012, 08:42 PM)

Added on April 11, 2012, 8:44 pmWhat mean by CBU version and CKD version? sarawak still no have stock..need wait
*
The current batch of K5 is direct from Kia's Korea factory. Fully import and coming in using AP. (CBU)
The upcoming batch will be semi assemble in Malaysia and in near future, will be fully assemble. Thus, classified under CKD unit.

No stock for all color? In KL, white is the 'hot' color. If you going for PG, easier and shorter waiting period.

Hey irangan, when does the current batch end? any idea?
*
According to my SA, Naza usually bring in around 500 then move in semi CKD then full CKD. Judging from the current sales trend, the first batch will last for another 3mths?

My car reach Malaysia on 15 Feb 2012 according to the AP papers.

Wont be stated. I presumed that if the unit is CKD, there wont be AP paper lo.

QUOTE(Kalist0 @ Apr 12 2012, 09:46 AM)
Question guys, if the k5 will be ckd in the future, will the price go down? Naturally, all ckd cars go down by at least 10k.

The price will remains the same according to my SA. He asked me to see at Sportage. Price still remains the same.

I think that one of fellow member did complained about this before and he went to stick the part with tapes. Something is loose.

QUOTE(feng yun @ Apr 12 2012, 12:12 PM)
I heard from SA kia red cube PJ, Sportage price remain the same as CBU after conversion to CKD / SKD.
Can anyone confirm?

If same apply to K5, i think better get current CBU asap he he.
*
Like mentioned above, guarantee price will remains the same. CBU will better than CKD? Might be but most likely all inside our mind only smile.gif

Though, you might end up buying more than just emblem. Just like me. Haha

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Apr 13 2012, 02:41 PM)
Guys, im sure many of you have been waiting for this news for some time.

Well, after 5 months of analysis and 9 test drives, ive finally booked my Bright Silver K5 today in Ipoh. I chose this dealer because of a number of reasons:

1) best trade in value for my 2003 Vios 1.5E (RM38K)
2) Branch manager was polite, respectful & had good customer service standards despite my many delays since Feb.
3) even though i was a serious buyer, he refused to allow me to test one of the Optima's there saying its for a customer and its not ethical for him to do so. (I was merely testing him).
4) He also agreed to absorb all the runner costs for getting a KL number plate
5) He said he has stock for Silver arriving by end month which would allow me to get my fav WWR plate.

Now need to seriously look into trading in the Nexen tyres.
*
CONGRATS~! Welcome welcome~!

Time to start a new thread since you are an owner now. Haha. V2~!

About tyre, PS3 or go for GY F1? What is the cheapest price that you can get for F1?

QUOTE(feng yun @ Apr 13 2012, 04:19 PM)
Congratulation!!! My Bright Silver already at showroom, will go and see her tomorrow. By end of this month will join K5 family  rclxms.gif

Now i am thinking, can i survive with Nexen tire? Because when i test drove in One U last time, i didn't hear lot of noise from tyre... Probably i didn't go too fast...
*
Welcome welcome to the club~!

The tyre wont be obvious if you driving slowly and city ride.

Try it on the highway and raining day. You will see the difference. Stock Nexen water grip aint that good. So better drive abit slow during raining day.

Can I check with u members, hv u guys experience annoying sounds from the back absorbers/springs when driving over uneven roads?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi. I m new here. I got my Sportage end Dec, the last batch of CBU.

By Feb, i noticed similar annoying rattling. Initially thought driver door was the cause, thought loose component. Sent the car to my regular workshop to check, they found the sound was from the back sear, between the latch & the hook - because the seat is foldable. The wrapped the latch with some cloth, since then, silent !!

Hope this help.

bang the donk donk Toyota SA, very unpro act of sales. What is the point of showing some bad comments of others? Does that helps to promote your product is better??   mad.gif
*
Seems that the SA is very confident that the new camry will be perfect and without any issues despite the actual car is not on the road yet. Again banging on their so called super reliable brand. Other than that, camry lost out in almost every segments.

No deny that Optima do looked ugly if the user is reading this thread practicing selective reading and with intention in seeking fault in this car.

I not saying this because I already in the wagon and no return. I been driving this car for the past 15 days and no regret by far by cancelling my Camry booking. For this price, Optima eat new Camry for lunch. New Camry dont even have VSC or ESP. So much for safety and reliability. Dare to tell this to your customer, Mr Toyota SA?

A very good deal if you plan to drive more than 5 years and sure that it is not a test drive unit and got rear air cond. I would take it.

Congrats~! Hope to see you in our next TT.

Seems that my PG colored K5 will be a rare specimen soon and I like it.

Hi there,

I just booked an Optima as well and am deciding between BS and LG but need to see the LG in the flesh firt to be able to decide. I booked mine from a dealer but was not given any discounts as some other members here received. I understand that the discount is only for 'test drive' cars and year 2011 models but has anyone received any form of discounts, even if its a few hundred bucks for their 2012 model?

I actually wanted to register the car in May but my SA informed me that if i register it this month, his delearship will throw in free Vkool tinting, do you guys think this is a good deal? I feel i am not getting a 'good' deal. Though i have yet to discuss with him about giving a free full tank or smarttag.

Thanks for the input guys.
*
Either he try to scare you or try to earn more because most of K5 user got a good deal in term of cash rebate. To me, nothing beats cash rebate because I want to choose what to install in my car especially tinting. Visit several different "DEALERS" or pm those Kia seller in the forum for the best deal. No point asking those work directly under branch. Pointless.

Question : y my ride change the gears automatically even I'm using in manual pedal shift mode ? Things happen everytime when I rev my 1st gears till 6000rpm than change to 2nd gear, when it's around 3000rpm++ in 2nd gear, the gearbox
automatically jump to 3~4th quickly even I didn't press in anything...does this happening is common to all the owners here ?
*
Bro, read your manual book. It is one of the safety feature to prevent over rev and damage the engine. It will change to lower gear when reach specific RPM.

I doubt this is wat irangan was saying... I think he was saying if u r in manual mode, lets say in 5th gear travelling at 100kmh, and if u slow the car down (due to traffic or any other reason) to around 30kmh, then the gear would automatically shift down to 2nd/3rd gear.. so its kinda prevent u from accelerate at 5th gear from 30hm/h..

Hope u get wat I mean...
