Did u trade in your Nexen tires? How much per piece and where?
*
Wanted to change the tyre too but unable to get a good value for the Nexen tyre. They offering Rm400 for 4 pcs despite brand new. Any suggestion?

QUOTE(kenrain @ Mar 29 2012, 04:49 PM)
Wow how your wife drive? 150KM diff, which 20%... rclxub.gif
*
If accelerate and braking alot, the fuel consumption will be definitively higher. Much depends on driving style or how jam is the route? smile.gif

QUOTE(02mini @ Mar 29 2012, 04:59 PM)
seems like most of the kia owner/kia wanna-be owner aged < 30yo... means majority has good salary pay...
question: issit good to dump more down payment on the car loan deposit?
*
No right and wrong answer. Some people will prefer to dump alot of DP for lower repayment amount or shorter tenure. But to me, if you have any investment that can generate much higher return compare to the HP interest that you paying to the bank, you should get the longest tenure and the least DP for your car. Nothing beat cold hard cash in your pocket. E.g. pay only 10% DP on new car and use the balance to purchase another under con property provided that you know exactly what you are investing.

RM400 for 4 pieces?? That works out to be RM100 per piece? Thats really crap! Not worth changing then. Stick with it for 1 year and then change to Michelin.

*
That's what I planning now sad.gif Rm100 for a brand new tyre (usage less than 100km). Sigh sigh.

loan not approved. to be a guarantor really a pain in the ass.. sad.gif
*
Sorry to hear that. Which bank that you went?

Did you try Affin Bank?

Usually if your loan declined due to guarantor, you can appeal on it or the easiest way is by getting a guarantor yourself. When come to guarantorship, try to look someone that close to you for example, siblings or spouse. As nowadays bank are very prudent where come to HP loan, guarantorship from friends usually carry little weight.

Sigh. Any good place to recommend? During the test ride, I noticed that the tyre sound abit noisy sad.gif

Sorry to hear that .. What bank u went for??

Reject due to lots of commitment?? I worried mine also .. I sold off my car, if the loan not approve, means like I got no car to work.
*
For better chance to approve, always remember this

1. Make sure your total credit card utilization below 80%. If possible, below 50%
2. Calculate your average NETT income (latest 3 mths payslip) after deducting all those reduction such as EPF, Sosco, PCB and etc
3. Your repayment behavior for the rest of your facility (latest 6 mths)
4. Your current loan application repayment dont exceed 30% of your NETT income
5. Submit your latest 3 mths saving account bank statement to show ur repayment capability. e.g. u paying 20k DP and ur new installment around 2k. So if you have at least RM32k (20k DP + 6 mths worth of installment) in your acc, showing that you are in good financial standing.
6. Sometime by submitting your job letter of offer, latest 2 years of EPF and Income tax to show your progress in your financial standing and to justify the purchase of a segment D (luxury sedan) car.

You can get CCRIS report by printing it by kiosk in Bank Negara.

Just for sharing:-

During my application, I submitted the following document to Maybank

1. IC (back and front)
2. Driving license (back and front)
3. Latest 3 mths payslip
4. Latest 3 mths bank statement to show the deposit of salary
5. Latest 3 mths my saving bank statement
6. 2011 / 2010 Borang BE (Income tax)
7. 2011 / 2010 EPF statement
8. My business card and job letter of offer

Submitted full doc to agent and loan approved within 30 hours.

its Maybank and Public Bank. Guarantor for personal loan. But that person died a year ago. Didnt know he didnt paid the installment. Need to clear it off, by letting go two other cars I supposed. Teana sure cannot let go since not even 1 year yet, and Naza Ria afraid need to topup summore..  cry.gif
*
Can you obtain the death cert for the specific person? You can appeal based on that.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Mar 30 2012, 01:56 AM)
If the service centre as bad as its salesmen, then i strongly recommend you avoid this Red Cube. Really pathetic service which normally means the branch manager is ineffective.

Added on March 30, 2012, 7:42 am

RM5K is the benchmark for good salary? Common la! That salary is barely enough to survive in KL if you have a family and a housing/car loan to pay. Thats why im quite happy with the new Bank Negara ruling regarding car loans. Will take some of those wannabies off the streets.  biggrin.gif
*
Agreed~! Dont go to Red Cube. Better go those 3s center. More friendly and customer oriented.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Mar 30 2012, 10:50 AM)
Guys,
Is there any difference buying the Optima from a branch as compared to a Kia dealer? Any risks with dealers?
*
Depends on the dealer, there is might be some risk if the dealer is newly established. Afraid that its might close down.

IMO, go to those established 3S Kia showroom. Usually more reliable as they need to fulfill strict criteria before awarded 3S center.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Mar 30 2012, 11:24 AM)
In my case i gotta choose the branch with the best trade in value for my Vios. We're talking about differences in thousands so its huge.

I thought u got poisoned by the new Audi A4 smile.gif

Can I bring my own oil for services? Will it void the warranty? Lack of confident on Petronas product, been using Shell for years. smile.gif

Added on March 31, 2012, 1:46 amAnyway, I getting my car in 13 hours ~!

HORREY~!

Just bought Yuma Coil Mat (inclusive bonnet) from Sh@rty 5 today. Got the special grey color used in C class Mercedes. A bit pricey but the quality is tip top and it is really custom made for Optima. Got 2 years warranty also.

Bought also some items from Shark Racing. Anyone can recommend who can help me install those custom emblem? Or I can pull it out just like that.

Conclusion:
If the smell is same, then its confirmed the burnt smell source is from anti-rust material and If not, there’s no other choice, we need to repeat again the procedures and perform the number two(2) procedures by sniffing and checking under carriage of the K5 to locate where’s the source of the burnt smell. Hope we can get a result from this test. smile.gif
*
Good insight on that matters and very technical. Will try on that.

QUOTE(kenso77 @ Mar 31 2012, 08:08 AM)
Went for a test drive at the Kia roadshow in 1U 2 days ago and I was pretty impressed with the handling and ride of the car. Did a comparison study of all D segments the K5 is competing against and seems the K5 is truly ahead of its class:

http://kensomuse.blogspot.com/2012/03/kia-...-class-how.html
*
Always glad to see a good review for Kia K5 smile.gif

*Mistake in your blog. K5 only come with 8 speakers and not 10 speakers as stated in your blog.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Mar 31 2012, 09:42 AM)
You might wanna include the following in your blog. Will make things clearer for those interested in the K5. I just think your spec comparison above doesnt give the K5 the glory it deserves.  biggrin.gif

The Optima is the only car compared to the Japanese that comes with / has:

1) High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights
2) DRL (Daytime Running Lights)
3) Automatic lights
4) Rain sensing wipers
5) Power driver seats with memory
6) Cruise control
7) Shiftronic paddle shifters
8) 6 airbags
9) Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
10) Hill Assist Control (HAC)
11) Cornering Brake Control (CBC)
12) Impact sensing auto door unlock
13) Gas shock absorbers and High Performance Dampers with sliding valve mechanism
14) Premium Infinity sound system
15) Power dual sunroof
16) 5 years warranty with unlimited mileage

Note: The other Japanese models might have some of the features mentioned above, but only in the higher spec 2.4L model. Im comparing 2.0L models only. Do correct me if im wrong.

Or maybe list down the full spec list i provided above in your blog. I compiled that list from various sources. I dont know why Kia doesnt make a similar list on their brochure instead of leaving out many items.  rclxub.gif
*
Probably korean dont see the purpose of doing so. Most of the term is beyond understanding for the target group of people that buying K5 (Uncle and Mdm). To them, branding is paramount compare to the rest (safety and feature). So better dont cluster the brochures with that smile.gif

QUOTE(williamhltdudu @ Mar 31 2012, 03:14 PM)
Hey guys, am sorry and really hate to interrupt u guys...

But can all the optima owners contribute to my questions here? I would really appreciate it...

Am a new guy here, was plannin to get 508, but now I want to see the optima side of the story..

First of all, I have heard the wind noise can get a bit high(>60mph = >100kmh) according to the US optima owners, can u comment about it from ur experience? anyone reached 160-180kmh in optima before? how is the cabin noise or NVH in compare to 90-100kmh?

Secondly, I have heard a lot of US Kia optima owners complaint about transmission problems and similar complaints are piling up more as days go by, do we hav the same problem in m'sia? (they usually are like 'driving in highway one day and suddenly the car kinda leaped forward as if the car hit something in front with a big clunk noise coming from underneath the car, and the rev all of sudden raised to around 4-5000 and gear stuck in 2nd gear (sometimes 4th), then wont be able to change the gear either wit paddle.. then turn the car off then on only able to fix the problem, the car then behaves quite normally for the next 3-4 days then comes the transmission failure and for that kia SC in US usually changed the whole transmission for these owners' am not sure if the same thing has ever happened to m'sia optima owners, and if so, how did naza fix these issues? (since it is known naza's after sell services are horrible)

Lastly, the burning smell that was mentioned not long ago, anyone has figured wat that was?

Thx guys
*
I just got my car today and drove for nearly 180km to test for any issue. Drove up to 145km/hr. No issue on the wind sound but no deny the tire abit noisy BUT the Infinity sound system is PERFECT. I am those people that love bass and techno songs. So when I on my sound system, it covered all sounds from outside and the basic sound proofing for the car is good because no rattling sounds from the door or back panel despite blasting techno songs.

Oh ya. Today my friend test drive Optima at 1 Utama. A lot of techno songs was played and the sound is good. Much to my friend surprise when he saw that Kia is using Optima K5 sound system to play that. Very cool.

Those without the rear aircon vents were 2011 units. All 2012 units have the rear aircon vents.

Added on March 31, 2012, 5:24 pm

Ok then you have some time to read up more on both cars. But no matter how much u read, it can never replace a test drive. Ive tested the Optima 7 times already and im more or less certain. Spend some time on this thread and ull learn alot about the car.
*
My SA told me that there is a batch of Optima K5 from early Jan 2012 dont have the rear air-cond. So remember to check when you are buying. Besides that, he can give a good discount for those no rear aircond model if anyone want it.

PICTURE OF MY YUMA COIL MAT. Custom made.
Attached Image

I bought it from Sh@rty 5 (http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1823052). COD at his shop in Klang. A very nice chap.

Yuma coil mat is double the thickness of a normal mat. Very thick, no smell and custom made. Come with 2 years warranty, got warranty card.

I paid RM390 for the whole set and RM150 for a non Yuma mat for my bonnet.

The usual price for Yuma mat is only RM350. I paid extra RM40 because of the color that I chose. It is a special silver that used in Mercedes. I love that.

Added on April 1, 2012, 3:11 amOh ya. For new K5 user, REMEMBER to release the pressure from your tyre after taking your ride.

My car tyre come in 360 despite the recommended only 240.

Wow, thx a lot guys... sure I'll test drive it when I get to m'sia...

this forum is grt, special thx to RlanD and capal buruk for clearin everyone's doubt on the burning smell..

Got a few questions here:

Irangan, sorry for my ignorance, may I know wat is Sierra glow treatment and wat does it do?

Wat are the 'must' mods to apply tot the car?

Thanx
*
Subjective question. Below is the mod on my list.

1. Sierra Glow; silica based paint protection (http://www.sierraglow.com/about/about.html)
2. Coil Mat; mentioned it at my previous post
3. Change the Kia Emblems (7 pcs); I got mine from Shark Racing
4. Change a more silent tyre; either Michelin Pilot Sport 3 or the new Goodyear F1
5. Getting Grounding cables, VS or Alternator Booster
6. Chrome door handle
7. Auto close side mirror relay kit
8. Front camera or sensor
9. Stabilizing bars; either import from Shark Racing or wait for Ultra Racing (not out yet sad.gif)
10. Some sound proofing materials to enhance the listening exp from Infinity sound system; STP
11. Change a lighter Crank Pulley
12. A lighter 18" rim; most likely Enkei as the default rim weigh around 10kg/each.

Edit: Forgot the most important one; TINTING. Got my one from Raytech. Very very nice. And looking forward for dual exhaust system but certainly not for now.

Wouldn't it be better to custom make a mat with a plastic piece in the centre like this one?:-

Should last much longer. I paid RM180 for pair of 5 pieces (but only the driver has the plastic sheet in the middle). All with custom stitches on the sides. I think someone here sells them for RM140-150 if not mistaken
*
Seems that Sh@rty 5 already explained quite clear on the questions and I agreed with his explanation. I am not related in his business. I am just a happy user of his products and services.

I meeting him again tomorrow for some amendment to get a perfect fit for my rear mat.

QUOTE(williamhltdudu @ Apr 1 2012, 11:21 PM)
Sorry guys, I know everyone is quite excited on the mods for the optima..

Can I ask a last question?

For those who has drove both optima and 508, is it worth to spend extra Rm27k for 508? since it has awesome interiors etc... but without sunroof, small glove box space, no cool glove box...
Oh, more importantly no reverse camera, no memory seat...
*
I never test drive a 508 but did test drive a 407 before. The spec and price sure is attractive but somehow the build of the car seems flimsy.

So if you ask me whether 508 or Optima, I would say that Optima. Been driving for 2 days and very worth the price that I am paying (142k).

Yeah. The unlimited mileage warranty is a big bonus for people that travel outstation real often.

You can join the TT if you want. Not necessary to have a K5 to join the fun. We can just chilling.

Same goes here. mine was off a bit only around 8 to the left... to the left...

JuneSeptember, I did the search around the stearing from your last comment on it. and I found this. Is this the one you referring to? if that is it, then it is sharp. easily can cut your knuckles. that's a very poor finishing on the stearing.

btw, im quite happy with the autocruise response. The agressiveness depends on the the road surface/level anyway. but that's just my liking. probably im not too familiar with this autocruise before.

Capal buruk, you're the hero with a pic. That's precisely what i meant. Not only one side, it happens to all the plastic bits on the steering wheel. They are sharp and badly finished, not even protons have this sort of bad finishing. Shall we write a letter to naza or something?
*
My car having the same issue but it is not that sharp till it will cause injury. Seems that it is a manufacturing issue during plastic injection process.

Just wondering can those "fine" sand paper smoothen it?

Guys,

I had another test drive on the Optima during the 1 Utama road show yesterday. I changed the test drive route to include a few trips till the traffic lights before the Penchala tunnel and then return. I did 3 rounds in the Optima. Testing high speeds (reached 135kmph), high revs, cornering at high speeds, hard braking, cornering while braking, etc. We had a full load of ppl.

btw, RPM at 110kmph is about 2300 right?

Your 8th test drive? Good to see that you still able to find some goodness in K5 after so many test drive.

Have you contacted the SA that I passed to you previously? He cant get a good price for your Vios?

Added on April 2, 2012, 10:46 amGuys, do you have this issue? I noticed that my stereo system kind of sensitive. E.g. when I am listening to CD and I went through a bump or so, it will "jump" to AM mode.

Anyone having this problem?

Dear all K5 sifu,

Very likely i will have pleasure to join K5 family. May i know from you guys regarding window tint:
1. What brand you guys using? V-cool / 3M / Raytech / ??
2. Cost for whole car including sun roof
3. Any branch recommend around subang, shah alam and klang area?

Thanks you in advance guys!

1. I am using Raytech because their HQ is located just opposite my Kia SA office.
2. RM3k+, got their best product in term of coverage and so on. Security films and so on. Whole car plus roof. I can open my sunroof cover during afternoon to enjoy sunlight but not the heat smile.gif
3. Workmanship and services tip top. Probably it is controlled directly by Raytech big boss gua. (HQ ma)

Goodyear Eagle FI Asymetric 2 only available in 235-45-R18 for RM 900 per tyre. Current Nexen size is 225. Wont be a problem right? Plus the Asy2 is a better tyre compared to the Michelin PS3.
*
The calculation if you want to different size from your recommended size is as below

Default size=
225/45 R18

Diameter of your tyre:-
[(225 * 0.45) * 2] + (18 * 25.4) = 659.7MM (65.97cm)

Your new tyre size=
e.g. 235/45 R18

Diameter of your tyre:-
[(235 * 0.45) * 2] + (18 * 25.4) = 668.7MM (66.87cm)

Difference = 9mm (just nice)

The difference between the diameter for your default and new tyre should within + / - 10mm (1cm). Ya, you can use any size that you want as long it fit into your wheel arch BUT your speedometer wont be accurate because the roll (distance) needed to complete a cycle will be different (means that if you use the wrong size, your speedometer might showing 80km/hr but actual you are driving at 90km/hr then you will get saman easily)

According to my friend, FC will increase if using a larger contact area tyre (235 vs 225) but at the bright side more safer.

CM98, thanks for the tyre review but doesnt matter now. I just changed my tyre to this below. smile.gif Much quiet tyre sound now but the engine sound is more obvious now. Today I also installed new emblems from shark racing and new crystal plate num. Getting sound proofing by next week after my first service to reduce the engine sounds and enhance the power of our Infinity.

Come come. Want to meet you. Actually, you are the dude that convinced me to purchase K5. I read through all your posts and decided that it is the car to buy. No regret. So tea tarik plus half boil eggs on me smile.gif

Because prevented me from splashing additional RM40k+ for the new 2.4 camry
