People always said that Korean car resell value suck. But I am curious. How about Suzuki resell value compare to Kia?
*
actually it makes me wonder, how much T&H earn from their car sales..not just the company itself, the whole thing from manufacturing to customer...

kizashi 2.4l car CBU with lotsa specs...and still sell at 147k compare to camry 2.4 at 175k

...my K5s having fast water leaking on bottom of engine .. is it a aircond water ? and quite a lot .. is it normal ? i just stop the car for 3-5 minutes .. the floor was wet .. so fast? commend?
*
if it is just water (not coolant, or windscreen washer), then it is normal...amt of water drooped from aircond evaporator depends on the air humidity surroundings, so it wont be the same all the time...

For the water discharge, i dont think there is any reason to be worried. Most important is to confirm that the water comes from air humidity condensation, not coolant fluid, nor washer nor any working fluid in the car. All working a/c will have condensation, thats why they have drain pipe.

As for the seat rattling sound, which some owners face here, try to check the passenger seat lock. i think the sound might come from the seat lock hitting the center console.

Few parameters for the amt of water. Air humidity, evaporator temperature, evaporator design and size. actually, if the water amt is more, it means even better cooling system. Thermodynamics...temp achieved!!

Added on March 25, 2012, 11:22 pmThere r 2 car frame or chasis no on this car. one on the front windscreen left(most obvious), and another at the bottom of the driver seat. Both r the same no, of course.

i think the sales and reception has been overwhelming...

The Optima has been on sale in North America since 2010 and it seems that US buyers just can’t get enough of it. Sales arerunning at around 12,000 a month there, out of global monthly sales of around 16,500. Over 217,000 have already been sold around the world.

With combined Kia and Hyundai globalsales for the January to October 2011 period of 5,924,146 - 18% up on thesame period in 2010, placing the company ahead of Ford, it’s easy to understand whythe company is feeling upbeat. Kia wasblazing a trail in Europe in 2011 too, with growth of 10% in sales to the end of October, set against a market that is still falling, even though decline has slowed to around 1% on average.

Against that backdrop you could arguethat either Kia can afford to take a gamble on launching into the declining EuropeanD-segment, or Kia’s European operation is making a mistake. In reality, it won’t makea whole lot of difference, because of those sales figures. European models will bes hipped in from Korea (where it is sold asthe K5) and even if sales are comparatively modest, that won’t stop Kia’s onward march, or the Optima, in their tracks.

I hope water discharge s just my over worry..

The seat belt rattling sound s so annoying.. My previous Honda City 2010 also have such a problem.  shakehead.gif

So far touch wood.. My K5 s not..

i said it coz u cant blame the system for having too much condensed water, coz the understanding of air-conditioning is evaporator will create condensed water when it works..the amt of water is base on the humidity of the air that passes though it...and of course, if the humidity level is higher, then u get more water...and same goes if the evaporator is bigger in size, or capacity is higher, then in the same level of humidity, the amt of water condensed will be higher than a lower capacity air-cond...

on the humidity, u can try to put several wet towels in your car and let the aircond runs...u will see the amt of water discharged at the bottom of your car will be alot more than w/out the wet towels in the same car at the same day...this will explain why the car in the showroom have more water discharge, coz im sure the doors (car and showroom) have been opened all the time or numerous time, hence the increase in humidity

the seat belt rattling oso happened to me, but i did it on purpose...while driving, i use my left hand to push the seat lock ard (while no one sits at passenger), and at some point it rattles with the center arm console....

dont get me wrong, i think i post many good reviews of K5 here, and to be honest, im still a proud owner of a K5 white... I am not a Kia SA, or works with Kia watsoever
having said that, i reserve some bad comments to myself, coz i know im paying less (in m'sia), i cant expect too much from it...such as turbo like engine torque/power...exceptional comfy ride like in teana when K5 is using low profile tyre-45 and 18" wheel with sports tuning suspension...try asking civic type R owner abt their car comfy ride...i been in one, and trust me, u dont want to be the one sitting behind even for a short lunch ride...

So, 3weeks passed wince gotmy car SG-ed Sierra Glow-ed.....
i havent clean my K5 White for close to a week, and it has been raining on and off in klang valley here these few days, so my car has dirt marks on them..which kinda obvious.

took out hose, and a clean cloth...water down the rear bonnet...basically, i just need to drag one end of the clothes ard, and 80% of the dirt marks are gone...it is really easily wipe off, and i didnt use a drip of shampoo or watever...the car surface seems really silky and the dirt cant really get planted into the paint...those remaining stubborn dirt can removed with a finger wipe..but pls understand, my car has no other oily dirt than a few oily finger prints of a foremen who took out my sister's car punctured when i help her to change it..

less power, but 3% more fuel efficient...
i think the 3% u can get from using high grade engine oil, jaga tyre pressure, or take out unnecessary weight luggage in the car...no need the nu engine...

well i was just wondering, whether will it penetrate into malaysia market. The additional 100kg+ weight reduction sounds nice. Its average weight of 2 adults. It will help in better pickup i guess. If u were to do the same as wat u mentioned to the theta engine with the nu engine, u will get further reduction in fc too. Probably its just for china market?
*
i know, but less power from the Nu engine ler.....
already so many debates abt the lethargic performance, wanna drop horsepower somemore ar?

Just checked out the VW Passat CC Sports 2.0L Turbo. VW now offering a RM16K discount plus 5 yrs warranty (unlimited mileage) and 3 yrs free service. Original price (including 55% NCB insurance and windscreen cover) is RM 273K. Now its RM 257K. They trying to clear existing stock before the arrival of the facelift version in May. But somehow the facelift doesnt look good from the front. Pity. But still better than the newly launched BMW 3 Series.

The Optima has slightly more rear legroom and a bigger boot but i guess the specs on the Passat CC is far better. But the Optima isnt far behind for a car that costs RM 114K cheaper.
*
they offered me 15k discount last time in january...year 2011 car thou...

and considering passat cc was selling at 240k before they hike the price due to tax irregularities complain from BMW (rumours..hahaa)..not sure if it is a good buy for ur richie 270k wallet..heheehe..

but IF i got 270k, i wud makan roti and go for 520i lo...ahahahaa

If you can only afford 1 currently and ure not desperate for a new car, then go for property. I bought 2 prime properties in KL before i decided to change my car after 9 years of usage.
*
yeah...car is always a liability, the value of this so called "asset" will always depreciate..
get at least a property and then only consider for luxury as in a car with the extra money u have..

so its 240? My SA advise me 320. Could you explain further how you derive to the above calculations?
*
there is a tyre pressure information sticker at the driver side of the car body, when u open the door, at the hinge there

the new cars all are inflated with overpressure till 370kpa for mine...which is actually dangerous !! shocking.gif

Everybody putting in new engines while Toyota still gonna use old engine and old 4 speed auto transmission for the new Camry 2.0L and still charge us RM150K. Only 2.5L will get new dual VVTI engine and new 6 speed transmission.
*
it is just plain business move, i think...u see, toyota has developed the engines decade ago, and has spent millions in R&D and mould, die & jigs fabrication for the old camry manufacturing....if the sales or the requirement is still manageable, then why not continue to use it again...in this case, m'sia or any other country with die hard fans, it is actually a smart business move...selling at premium price, with new facelift or body over same engine and transmission..the profit margin will skyrocket..

if in other country, where competition is stronger, im sure toyota will fit in more advance engine, transmission and features or else they will lose out...i dont see toyota sales dropping significantly, even with new camry with old tech out....unless other brands in m'sia has strong presence to fight with them..

i mean, if u r toyota m'sia decision making person, decide this..... coming out with new camry new tech low profit margin abt same sales volume, versus new camry, old tech but HIGH profit margin and add some marketing to spice up sales even more

in the end, u get promoted for skewing m'sia consumer !!

Yes of course. In Toyota's mind, they are making more profit as ppl are still buying their outdated models with dinosour tech. But this year it would be interesting to see if the same sentiments can be met. Toyota have alot more competition this year especially from the Koreans.
*
thats what u think..coz u got knowledge in cars....
i know many of my relatives...buy car, standard otomatik go T&H showroom lioaw...

but of course, korean , volks with their aggresive pricing, will be eating some of the jap market share...but i think another 3 years at least..hence toyota still got the time buffer to play with this card(dino tech camry)

Finally got my white ride in this Monday! Drove it for 3 days, impressed me with the power(compare to camry 2.0), the tech and the design!

Done Sierra Glow yesterday and Mr Choong explained a lots about how to protect the car paint to me. Recommended shop to whoever want to give your ride a coating!

The intrusive sounds from tyre / bottom when drive on rough road (caused by tyre?) is really drive me crazy. Anyone getting better after change tyres? or it is sound proof problem ?

The surface of my Gear Knob has dropped off like other owner, complaint to my SA and hope to replace it soon.
*
check ur tyre repssure, make sure at 240kPa, can reduce some noise

yeah..my gear knob oso dropped...the clip broken...put some glue, then okie lioaw

seems like most of the kia owner/kia wanna-be owner aged < 30yo... means majority has good salary pay...
question: issit good to dump more down payment on the car loan deposit?
*
there is no definite answer to that..

first, you have to know urself, wat are u going to do with the savings u have..if u plan to keep it in Fixed Deposit onli, then better put more downpayment into the car...if u have plan to spend it for business or any investment, then dont put too much into car deposit...

car loan interest is compounded...meaning, simple multiply..ie 2.5% pa x 9 years loan x loan amt...example, loan 100k at 9years tenure at 2.5% int cost u 22.5k in total interest

however, house loan is not compounded interest...house loan interest is calculated base on the exact amt still owed to the bank at that day (most banks do daily calculation)...say u owe bank 100k now, but next year it shud be lower like 90k...so by next year, u will be paying interest base on 90k..and so forth

but car loan NO...the total interest is charged regardless when and how much u still owe bank at certain point in your loan tenure...if im not wrong, a 2% car loan int, is equivalent to somewhere 3.8% effective interest rate....

so this will roughly give u idea on how to decide...
