Got my bright silver unit yesterday. (My buying & collection process experience, was poor compared to 6yrs ago when I got my vios -so much better. Bottom line is, the SA to the Branch Mgr... They'll sucks.)

Saw my ODO at 65km, I guess it was ok. Drove up to kl last nite and man.... I just love the car. The cruise control very responsive.
*
where u got urs from?
the only logical way i can think of is, good SA probably will go to toyota or honda or those AP/recon car seller, coz there, they will get better sales volume and commission, compare to kia or hyundai or lower volume sales company..

tried the alarm, and YES, there is alarm...

anyone checked their car tyre pressure after collection ?
i think it is dangerous that the tyre got pre-pressured to 370kpa for mine..

Got mine from nazakia JB. Don't ever go there. U can accept if there's slacks in the tech knowledge.. but cust service ?? It's ur bloody job man!

How did u tried the alarm?

Damn I forgot bout the tyre pressure. I read its the other day. Thanks for reminding. Btw, where to get a good tint 3m or v-kool in subang? What's the price? Where did u get yours done?
*
for V-Kool, i called few shops for V-Kool Elite...Tint Shop subang, V-kool official store at PJ, and Dragon Sound Auto Accessories in Klang...the latter being my previous cars tint installer...both Tint Shop and official store quote rm2800 with 10% loyalty discount. And Dragon offer me RM1800. And i havent got it done yet, planning this coming monday. And additional cost if u wanna add the sunroof tints. 3M, dunno.

alarm.... i lock my wife inside, then move away with the smart key...wife then manually unlock from inside, and it triggers the alarm, horns aloud..not really loud thou

still in awe driving the k5 ard for weekends...
learnt abt the rain sensor auto-wiper during the rainy sunday,
autoheadlight lit up when u enter carpark dark area and turn off after u leave the car,
the solar glass actually is sufficient for my likings, so most probably will NOT put in additional tint, save rm2k smile.gif
will opt to do sierra glow from the tint savings

park my car infront of a restaurant for sunday lunch..nice to see bypassers admiring my car..hehehehe

Regarding the alarm, I've tried it today at the showroom:

1. Have SA go inside the car
2. I Lock the car with remote from outside
3. Asked SA to open the door from inside

Alarm didn't got triggered... Did I missed out something here?
*
take the smart key much further away, ard 5m will do.

3. Asked SA to open the door from inside (of course u dont come back to the car with the smart key)

This shud trigger the horn

Like the idea of opening the door/boot without even have to take out the key from the pocket. This K5 really have that small things which a driver wish would have. simply brilliant.

*
yes, i agree...there many small things that the car have..
easy access driver seat..where the seat is auto-slide backwards for u to easily get out, and for re-entering...
escort light, welcome light, auto-lock door bsae on speed..which all of them can be set ON or OFF from the cluster meter setting
u can turn off the radio by long pressing the "mode" button at the steering
go try and open the engine bonnet, u will feel like u bought a rm200k car...

the spare tyre is full/exact size 225/45/18 tyre, unlike other cars, which give u very very much smaller tyre
im lovin the infinity sound system !! rclxms.gif
handling is awesome, took my car to 160km/hr yesterday, and still very stabile...make the highway circular exit turn, and took it at fast speed with confidence and ease..ard 80km/hr.. read some ang moh kias who happen to install the solid strut bar from shark racing, and it gave him apparent significant improvement in handling... ~RM700

after decide to save some money from NOT doing tints, going to do sierra glow and cant wait to see the after effect..hope i dont regret icon_rolleyes.gif

still planning for some short day makan trip with family to melaka or ipoh for weekends, but always busy or something on..so cant take it further away than klang valley...

the LED DRL cannot be turn off..either it will be bright (when headlight OFF) or dimmer(when headlight ON)

CKD Passat 1.8TSI for RM170K eh? But either way, i cant stand how ugly and bland it looks. Even if it was RM150K i would still think twice.
*
haha...i was thinking either passat or k5 at that time..passat handling and driving pleasure is above k5...imagine getting cbu german car, with engine same as audi A4 1.8tsi, was tempting lor..spec was good compare to jap cars, but lower compare to k5....but then, extra 45k, was too much..plus design, u said it lioaw...bland..uncle's car..some say timeless design...

done SG on my car...rm700 fly lioaw...haha...took abt 4hrs. Think faster coz new car, not much to clean or prepare b4 the coating, and also the reason why it is cheaper than old used car... worthiness, still cant say...car is glowing, and touching it feel really smooth..wont comment much now, coz it suppose to save me washing time, and no need to polish for 5 years...so will wait and see b4 give comment...

haha i guess people have their reasons la. reliability, maintenance etc. this is malaysia afterall. Kia has to buckup on their SC's throughout Malaysia.
*
optiam k5 was like launched close to 2 years outside from m'sia...and from reviews outside, it seems to withstand the reliability test over time, and in some surveys, actually more reliable than vw and some jap cars...sure u heard abt vw transmission probs...and even some complain abt SC of VW over at US, whereas KIA has good repo over there in SC...maybe to gain trust kua..

but of course in m'sia is different story, coz it is covered by naza... again, best is we dont have to go for SC for warranty or parts replacements or recalls

Actually even K5 sell at 143k, people should think twice too...
Due to m'sia mindset which is still prefer badge, K5 should sell around 119-123k max (previous old optima/sonata also sold around that figure)...
It's normal if korea product price 20k lower than others...
*
first, K5 car price is 139k, if want to compare to passat 170k coz both shud be car price onli, w/o ins and etc.
2nd, this m'sia k5 spec is consider premium range, if u really go through the spec sheets...from the car manual, u can see that kia optima has many parts version for their spec differentiation, ie with or w/o sunroof, cluster meter with colour screen, smart key push start stop, 18" rim, infinity sound system, dual a/cond w rear air duct, paddle shifter, auto wiper & headlight, xenon, DRL and many more...
means that it can go lower price for lower spec
3rd, this is a CBU car, so incur some tax there...in my opinion, korean labour skills or machinery tech shud be better than CKD m'sia..no offence..
4th, CKD m'sia passat...not sure how much the parts has been localised, and over time, definitely will increase more local parts..again no offence

p's : still i think more than twice b4 deciding K5..test drived sonata, passat, jetta, ford ecoboost, accord 2.0, camry 2.0...

passat stock been ever ready...was told by SA during i test drive...K5 just recently received its 2012 stock. Late oso coz worldwide sales has outperform its korean factory output...and US factory just got started to supply US demand, hence we can get it sooner now...had to wait 1 mth for mine, which initially told 3 mths

thats why qty on the road less, but i believe it will grow lar...

Aiya this looks something like the system the Proton Wira had whereby a side light on the bumper lights up whenever you on your signal. Cheapo system. The Active Bending Lights would be 200% better for sure.
*
maybe u r rite..but this static bending light do not need u to push the signal stick to activate..u just make the turning (not 35degrees, much less than that..maybe the light is 35degrees side beam) and it will activate...kinda alot easier of use(or automated), and in a way, extra safety pre-cautious feature....

FC...RM120 full tank RON 95 ~700km...abt 17sen/km..mix of highway n city drive..abt 50-50 (subjective measurement, by feeling..ahahaha)

as for length of optima, it is shorter than accord...but generally, it is a D segment car, so +-50mm of a camry/accord/teana

during my bookings or dealing, wasnt aware of extra body kits...or any acceossories OEM provided by Naza Kia...but hoping for in-built GPS navi touch screen system like in US full spec units...how much was the bodykit anyway? and i think the car already very low clearance lioaw...add more skirtings, sekali naik bump...screeeecchh....sakit !!!!

Accord has the longest lenght in its class n oso width. Teana's length stay in between camry n accord.  If optima's lenght is lesser than camry then it will sure meet one of my requirement in chossing the next car..

Although in d segment cars, the different in lenght is just little, but i really admire optima exterior design by peter...really can't resist his idea... biggrin.gif
*
err...u mean length is lesser than ACCORD?

and one more thing...the fuel tank measurement or indication on the meter...is quite precise...wat i mean is, if it indicate last bar of fuel, it means very low...and if it is no more bar/blinking....it means going to FINISH....i pumped 66 liters (spec is 70ltr) in the last time straight after it went blinking...dont go pandai pandai drive another 50km thinking "aiyar...still got wan lar...!!!" hahahaa...just my observation...

did you have the ECO mode on or off for the FC stats above
*
yeah, with eco mode ON...

not entirely sure abt how the eco mode works...but i notice that, it basically reduce the possibility or the frequency of the car switch to lower gear when u step on.. it will still switch to lower gear as per ECO mode OFF if u really press it, and the gradient in which the RPM increase is the SAME too..somehow, i feel it works like a correction factor, wiping out drivers foot overacting...get wat i mean??? sifus, correct me if im wrong

ooh, accords is too long to my liking. If lesser than camry, than is ok. I let my wife drive teana n she already kelam kabut. So i m thinking a little shorter car for her... biggrin.gif
The specs in this optima is excellent which is more than my teana 2.5 so imwant her to owns it...
*
the reverse camera with colour display and proximity indication in optima will help her a lot..
but take note that the rear window of K5 is kinda small due to the steep dropline at the rear

but i will definitely drop teana to her, and drive K5 myself... thumbup.gif
