QUOTE(ViRaViRa @ Aug 4 2011, 06:26 PM) +1 Only those who are unique enough to experience Maemo will have the slightest idea on what to expect. I don't really see what makes MeeGo so interesting. I don't even know know what Maemo is like in the past. Comment for what? Some are champions when it comes to complaining. When asked about ideas to uniquely market N9, all keep quiet (Singapore Rangers got give so much input). Some even go missing after got phone. If you have idea, why not voice it out? Seem like only Andy bring along his balls on the very Friday. |

Hmm, what Andy said is specifically more onto the OS while there are a couple that are based on hardware or camera which is more of a phone feature than OS feature.

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Aug 4 2011, 10:14 PM) If Nokia wants to hear another Maemo/MeeGo user comment perhaps I need to write a long email expressing what I expect from their OS If you were there the other day, probably you will be interested to hear how Nokia escalate views/ideas/criticism back to their HQ. I don't think your emails will make it there unless you wait for Elop's outside of their HQ in Finland. I won't disclose but also not too surprise by the lack of authority possess by Nokia Malaysia. As a matter of fact, we do not have direct contact with Nokia Malaysia, only through their media agency. |

QUOTE(zero_kbom @ Aug 4 2011, 10:24 PM) I do give them my ideas that day. Yes, Im the annoyingly loud malay guy sitting beside Andy on that night Sorry if I missed out on that. Anyway, I do not know anything about MeeGo, so please pardon me.Still I agree with Hexpheonix. If Nokia really put emphasize on the core app experience, plus promising strong support for the platform, I reckon that it'll do well. And by core app experience, I mean, not 3rd party ones, just the OS itself. The number of apps available will be catered by the community no doubts bout it. Its not about the quantity, its the quality of apps available. Just my 2 cent |

QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Aug 5 2011, 07:16 AM) I prefer not saving some money for N9 though. Would save for quadcore tablet instead. 49 days to launch... Launch = Start selling immediately or just letting the world know?Btw, rumor says N9 will launch in malaysia next month. Here come ya savior Added on August 5, 2011, 7:18 am » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I wanna criticize Nokia everything I know. TBH, the swipe gesture features only gives short terms of hype. It won't last long enough. |

Maybe Nokia need one ambassador to promote their camera... the BIGGEST APERTURE, F2.2, what is aperture, sort of things. Touch to focus, sort of thing.

QUOTE(sklchan @ Aug 16 2011, 10:39 PM) That LCD looks dimmer than the user hand. LOL... Here cut, there cut. Have to install custom ROM judging from it's ugly GUI, lack of gapps, and slight lag despite boasting dually 1.5GHz SoC. Further check reveal MSM8260 is still based on A8 and not A9. No wonder... QUOTE(zero_kbom @ Aug 17 2011, 08:12 AM) SOS? When release? If early September, then I'll try to look for it in Taipei.Yep, MSM8260 is based on heavily modded A8, which might explain why Sensation being pwned kaw2 by SGSII. Still, Ugly GUI? Different taste for different people I guess. MIUI is well known for its eye candy! And plus, MIUI is based on CyanogenMod. Heard rumors too, that the 1st time u switch the phone on, u can choose to go stock Android or MIUI. Still at that price? SHADDAP AND TAKE MY MONEY! |

Many people said Apple logo sell better but I personally find that nokia logo is worth even more cos they sell less for more.

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Aug 21 2011, 04:27 PM) ^Start a thread about this in Maemo Talk & you'll have 2 groups of repliers. Ain't they getting it wrong? Meego is not dying, Maemo is. The bottom point is, these people ain't happy with Elops, but they can't do anything about it. They love Maemo too much. One group's point: In order for the MeeGo to survive N9 must be successful with it's OWN OS. So people should not port Android for N9. Another group's point: Let's make N9 as advanced N900.Hack the hell out this device since we know this won't be commercially successful. |

Even nokia malaysia made it quite clear. Basically, it's still Maemo with Meego APIs (not sure which version).
Maemo fans is different from Nokia fans. Personally I don't mind Android or WP7 cos I cant see much happening around Maemo/Meego development. Just need a smartphone with good support and not slow slow wait. Maemo fans mostly care about hacking the damn thing ands will run it like desktop if they can. |
