I think N9 suffers from the same problem as Symbian with battery indicator. Was at 30% and plugin my portable charger. 15minutes later, 4%.....

Update: Restarting the phone shows 14% and while Im typing this, battery low pop up again...recheck and went back to 4%

Seems like thr are some biting issues wt the 1st batch. Perhaps need to wait longer, hopefully wt price reduction. tongue.gif

There is no hardware issue with it... Software problem is not a big deal as updates will be release from time to time.

In fact, Nokia (Malaysia) said that a firmware release is REALLY SOON... Probably in a month or less I assume.

does anyone here managed to get tv-out working?
*
Its working... but a rather weird one

Stuffs like the 3 homescreen is shown in horizontal mode but on the tv, is rotated 90% to the left. Impossible to read. Facebook also in the same view.

However, for apps like browsers, gallery, videos which support rotate, it will show correctly when you rotate your phone to landscape mode.

1) Lack of Flash support, 3G video call, LED notification (remember the useful blue-orange-white colored LED on N900?)
Actually it has one white LED (whatever it is, only will blink when charging phone).

As for Notifications, actually the screensavers works quite well. If you have SMSes, Calls, and Emails (not sure of other yet), it will display additional icons under the clock screensavers. Waste some battery but at least let you know what to expect without unlocking the phone. Even when you power on (without unlocking), some like SMS or misscalls details already shown on the lockscreen, a bit like iOS5 (a good way to explain, who cares who copy who sue who)

Thats good to know thanks.. If the LED is physically there, somebody can always program it to use as notification as well.. The blinking LED thing is Nokia's smartest innovation I think.. can see whats happening at a glance!
*
I never used N900. What's special about it? Different notification different LED rythm or color?

Yes, by default it is without security code prompt. I've enabled it yesterday and now, I am unable to disable it. When I go to Settings--> Security-->Device Lock-->Auto Lock, there is no "Off" option.
*
I tried just now... got off ma...
You press it, didnt a grey out screen came out with different setting like Off, No Delay, XX Minutes? Select Off will prompt security code.

Well, only 5 (or 6, cant remember cos just reset) settings...

Away will bring you back to your previous homescreen but will not close the program.
Close is Close the program and exit to previous homescreen (IIRC)
Switcher is the 4 icons at the bottom
Launcher bring you to Apps homescreen.

Another two I forgot the name, one bring you to Notification homescreen and the other to the multi tasking homescreen. Both also did not close the app.

Developers mode install Terminal and SDK connection...

BTW, hate the touch focus. It does not actually focus at the point that you touch. I wonder why sometimes it automatically focus but most of the time just change the point without focusing.

Slaughter house aaa? I owned S2 and iPad2 which are both dual core, dual core or quad core GPU. Even scrolling Facebook app and browser sometimes a bit lag on N9 despite it's higher score in HTML5 test.

Speaking of Facebook, anyone would like to enlighten me on where do I find checkin for N9? Tried Facebook, tried Maps... Where got oooo? I think I need 8 eyes cos 4 is not enough.

Hahaha, later, later. Cos a lot of Android fans online(my friends included) keep saying N9 not good if compared to S2. It doesnt deter me of course. Just want to know advantage & disadvantage since I dont have S2, but later lah. I will nicely experiment when my n9 arrives
*
Speaking of raw performance and apps, I think you are quite right. It just that even the S2 is not perfect, a lot of improvements can be made. It has the raw power to execute whatever you want to throw at it easily, being one of the most advance mobile architecture alongside Apple very own A5.

N9 is special because of the swipe. But I do feel that Nokia has no passion in perfecting it (just my personal view based on my early impression). A lot of things are either purposely crippled or being overlook. Just a simple example. They implement pull and release to update or refresh in Facebook app but when you go to people comment, it's a soft button to refresh. Almost the whole Facebook app implement pull and release, so why bother to leave it out at the comment. Then there is no checkin and uploading photo only via gallery and none via camera. Not really a deal killer, just to those who are used to other platform, an additional step.

Btw, those using N9 to hotspot should beware. I find that hotspot app works fine, just that once you hide it, the data counter don't seem to move at all. I did not double check if it affect the internal data counter in setting or not.

Anyone with portable charger? Although I see the original charger states 5V 1A but even with my portable charger 5V 1.5A, N9 gives an error about it being too weak to charge it. The charging animation keeps on rolling but the charging estimate running into thousands. Strange considering I charge iPhone, iPad, S2, N8/E6, HTC Incredible S with it before without any problem.

Facebook in N9 is much much much (x10 times) better than N8's social app.

Almost like Android and iOS. The only sad case is, it doesn't have Places, yet. Also, the photo cannot pinch to zoom (actually cannot zoom at all).
*
I have to say iOS and Android one are very much better... a lot of limitation...

BUT

I have to say (and a few other Rangers also comment on this) that the Facebook chat system in N9 is quite good. Sometimes the keyboard is lagging to pop up, but no big deal. It instantly pop up when you receive a chat is better than Android or iOS.

I do wonder if they really need the Facebook app when they are already displaying the whole Facebook in the notification homescreen. I hate it. Facebook also got notification... instead they display Feeds in the NOTIFICATION HOMESCREEN!!! Do guys in Finland understand what is NOTIFICATION!!!????

Well, there is a switch to disable that news feed, just prefer notification for FB instead of feed. A lot of spam on Facebook...
