just ordered this morning..

i ordered from AliExpress..

The link of the shop in china. http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/803343

Not really cheap for ABS type. For that price probably can aim for PBT caps already via Taobao

QUOTE(limhongwoon @ Sep 24 2011, 07:43 PM)
What is model of the smaller version ?
I want to use it with Laptop and it will be more easy to carry if going outside
*
Cherry G84-4100 ML switches.
Try taobao for these. They go for really cheap at Taobao, maybe Rm60-70 shipped but they are used.

Else consider the KBC Poker/Noppoo Choc
If you want a bit bigger, look at them 87 key boards, PLU87 or FILCO 87

If you are feeling adventurous, take a look at the Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional 2.

ou crap, i just read carefully about the thread. holyomg.

if what i read is correct, the KBC aluminium casing is sold separately, that means it is a casing which you can replace with your current KBC Poker keyboard casing.(swapping a ABS Casing to a Aluminium Casing)

which means, it is not the keyboard ifself that he is selling.
*
Don't care.
Gonna get it for my Poker regardless of whether it is sold separately or not.

Here's a nicely made guide.
I'm not a fan of chinese zhuyin keycaps. Have it on my FILCO and I think it affects the looks of it. Each to it's own.

Since this is a CM product, highly likely the distro is going to bring it in anyway.

I read around PCwaishe, his first iteration 87key Aluminium case cost him about 1000RMB, this Poker is smaller so it might be cheaper, but I'm guessing it's not too far off that.

I'm wondering if he would be willing to give us the CAD files and then we find our own CNC aluminum people?

I don't think the K90 will be worth the trouble. The Rapid Fire yes, the K90, with the mixed rubber domes, meh.

I got Red switch RF.

Someone on Geekhack have posted.
[Geekhack] Filco and CM RF

For people who doubt it's OEM from Costar, it have been comfirmed.
CM RF dismantling
Wow, I saw that picture a long time ago, but I never bothered to compared it with a FILCO.
Since now it is confirmed, the CM Storm will be a nice board to be modded.

QUOTE(lucidlts @ Sep 26 2011, 07:29 AM)
just curious, is there a way to detach the metal plate from the pcb board?
*
Need to desolder each switch, remove the metal board, and solder the switches back. Not worth the trouble honestly.

I opened up my ducky 9008, need some information how to repair my failed LED

When the LED is light on (Connected parallel with another keyboard)

When CAPLOCKS LED On - Multimeter measured 1.2v
When SCROLL LOCK LED On - Mutlimeter measured 1.2v
When NUMPAD LED On - Multimeter measured 0.9V on the failing LED

When it's off All terminal report 0v measurement

Does that indicate a dead LED? I thought it's a lousy soldering job and c causes bad contact but actually the board have some very neat soldering job!

u might wanna consider adding this to first page, very informative although it's in japanese..

http://park16.wakwak.com/~ex4/kb/tech_cherry_mx.htm

Busy finding some repairing manuals
*
The sure way of testing it is to desolder it, then plug it into ur Multimeter for LED testing and see whether it lights up, or you can just wire 2x 1.5V cells and briefly touch the legs of the LEDs if you aren't so keen on desoldering.

Otherwise, if your multimeter has a diode test function, turn that on, and measure the voltage across the working LED and the non working LED.

wont 2x1.5V excessive for the LED? I would try it later, thanks for the tips for measuring LED.

I work in Automotive lighting industry we only measure LED in forward voltage actually.

In the case of broken LED I would be in a headache too.. since the LED is only like.. 2 or 3mm
*
I've come across most LEDs to turn on at about 1.3 - 1.4V. so 3Volts might be good enough. But you can try 1.5V on your working LEDs and see whether it works or not. I may be wrong on the turn on voltage however.
You probably can source replacement LEDs easily if it is confirmed to be broken?

Lurking around ebay now looking for either model m or del AT101 but the price...Unless for cllector purpose gettin it to reach my door will cost the same as one of these brand new...

You were looking at the wrong place tongue.gif

Since you don't read chinese, here we go.

Model M
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=2138994351
119 + 12 RMB + shipping to Malaysia.
I got it for RM110~, came in pretty clean, pretty nice to type on. Got it from the same guy in the link

Dell AT101W (New without box)
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=1229356...&_u=rkfhos6ca24
128RMB + shipping
Not sure whether this one is in stock, but this is the ballpark figure. You can get used ones for half the price.
Got mine for Rm60~ shipped for the used ones

Exchange rate has fluctuated a bit, so it probably wont be as cheap, but if you are looking to see some of these in action, maybe the price just be more justifiable than ebay

As to the keyfeel, since I have both keyboards, the AT101W wins most rubber domes keyboards, but it's not really nice once you've tasted other Mech ekyboards. Even lubricated the switches since ALPS don't age well, and while they feel a tad smoother, they aren't really fun to type on.

The Model M however, they are a wonderful piece of engineering, and a fine example of how old things are made to last.

Heavy is a wrong way to put it.
These Mech KBs should be heavier than the Eclipse, unless you are talking about key feel then it is different story

so much cheaper now, USD999 biggrin.gif

So will you go keyboard crazy and then we can share shipping cost of custom stuff from overseas?

user posted image
This is as keyboard crazy as you can get unless you are going for those custom or out of production rare items.

@antonio,
great to know that there are keyboard enthusiasts like you that have close relations with a lot of sellers and distro.
Easier to know more things happening in the Malaysian KB market this way. Previously it was just Cyclone, Edifier and storm.

The layout is similar, design not as much.
I used to think the Mionix is the same OEM as BW due to the same keycap, but we know Mionix has Costar as their OEM.

On another note

is that a DC input port?
why does a keyboard like this need a DC input

Lolololor...

I Already explained to them (distro) and probably waiting for their product manager to order...Initially they scared to order because of the high price n thought it has no demand here..But after a lengthy discussion and forward one of the guys here (this topic) what we can do its just wait and see if distro brings in the rapid fire...I told them to bring 10 in to test market, dunno they want to listen or not wink.gif

TRIGGER i didnt poison them to bring in sweat.gif
*
10 only. Our fren cyclone bring in 50 sets of Leopolds
If got lubang for the CM keyboards remember to inform people here first. tongue.gif Especially the red switch board. Rumoured that SG distro not bringing red switch to SG.

The pricing for CM keyboards are rather nice. But the Tenkeyless part is not really attractive. You can see that most of the FILCOs coming in are 104 keys one. Even the Multicam, only has 104key for Malaysian market. The price is acceptable, but the options, well, maybe the market does not know who FILCO is.

CM, and Corsair, I am guesstimating with figures outta my behind, would probably sell nicely, comparable with Razers.

You are unlikely to get a better price than buying from CM directly. I was wondering how many people are interested? The price should be above RM300 after shipping. I could shoot them an email biggrin.gif Very nice looking, but the numpad is something I'd need. Oh btw, can we even get Storm products here? Is any of the three distros carrying them at all?
*
Price from PCHome is about RM320 after shipping for MX Brown and Black versions

Anyway, you should not limit yourself, to the keyboards with numpad
You should get one of these, tuck it away when not needed.

I tried the BW and I think they come in MX blue? It was clicky and clacky but the actuation needed is less than my dome Saitek Eclipse 2 for sure.

Will red depress itself if I just lightly rest my fingers on top of it?

Alright the dark side is strong, I need to try them lol
*
To depress itself by resting fingers, you need 30g-35g switches.
Cherry Red have 45g actuation force.

Skylive/bai1101 i live near you guys also, cheras batu 9 @@

The problem with cloth is that once your palm sweat gets in, it really stinks a lot. Thats why they use Leather for Ducky, FILCO etc, or the special material for the 3M gel stuff. Not sure about about the chinese clones however.
