If anybody is interested, I'm pretty happy with my contractor Mr Sin.

We needed to completely gut out condo - remove all floor tiles, all fittings & all built-in furniture, install all new water pipes & plumbing, extend kitchen by removing dry area wall, retile the kitchen walls & floor, build concrete & tile kitchen counter + bar counter, completely retile both bathroom walls & floors, install new bathroom fittings, convert shower area into a laundry room, retile the master bedroom, living, dining & hallway with 2x2 tiles, retile the balcony, refurbish the sliding door (new glass & rollers), change 3 windows to casement type, waterproof the outer wall & repaint the entire condo.

The cost came up to about RM40k (other companies were quoting RM60k-70k). And he completed everything in 6 weeks.

He shows up every day with his workers and works alongside them. He says he prefers to do small-medium jobs.

I hv renovated 4 times in the past, this has been the most pleasant experience yet.

Hi, sadly I did not get Mr Sin's contact. When would you be needing your renovation work? I've engaged another contractor and currently it's been 1 week and I have no complaint.

The price is reasonable and the best thing I like about him is that he provide us with relevant and adequate advice without forcing us to take on his idea even if we decided to proceed with ours (he would let us know what happen if we decide to proceed with our choice and if we're okay with it he would try his best to get what we want) .

If yours is not urgent, I would share my experience with my current contractor once everything done. (Eta another 3 weeks to 1 month)

No worries, mine is not urgent. Looking forward to your final feedback. Thanks!

Hi CherishYY, how's your reno going on? Will you recommend your contractor? Looking forward to hear your updates.

Hi, my renovation is in last touch up phase (after our comments) and will be done today.

My comment is that their carpentry work is beautiful and sturdy, highly recommended.

For other renovation work, the workmanship is so-so. Nothing to complain about yet nothing to be excited with.

He is however, very willing to satisfy his client's wants.

Whatever thing that we're not satisfied with, he would look into it and fix it to his best ability.

(From fixing a drawer that couldn't be opened smoothly, to a scratch on the wardrobe mirror, he made the effort to rectify once we point it out.)

All in all, I would recommend him. (Since his price is still quite competitive among the 4 contractor that I've got a quotation from)

Pros: i) Project delivered on time as promised (would even include buffer time for client's inspection and touch up)
ii) Price reasonable
iii) Willing to solve any problem that we raise.
iv) Honest
v) Nice Carpentry work
vi) Constant update on progress (although sometimes it wasn't even necessary)

Cons: i) Slight poor workmanship in tiling (tiling work not too even, it's still comfortable to step on and touch since
the unevenness is more of an eye sore )
ii) No actual measurement given when asked to purchase thing (e.g: asked us to get Deka baby fan to replace
the master bedroom fan, once we got it, he measured and mentioned it's too long and asked to buy another
shorter model)

We had an idea of what to be done. But our contractor Mr Sin provided advice on the best way to do them i.e. windows, drainage & water supply for dishwasher and washing machine. He also went with us to the tile shop to advice on what tile is the most suitable for the different parts of the house and quantity.
