What format you're trying to play? Windows Media Player cannot play?

Hmm.. you should be able to get around 60mbps copying speed with USB3.0

Did the renesas 3.0 thingy running on the background? or you disabled the startup? Have you try to reinstall the driver?

Transferring a single 4.2GB .avi file, I get...

From laptop to HDD, 35MB/s.

From HDD to laptop, 75MB/s.

Renesas running in background? How to check?

Disabled startup? Nope, it's enabled.

Tried reinstalling drivers? Nope, never did.

RMVB & MKV format...

use MPCstar can play RMVB nice...
but for MKV then the movie hang & stun...

use km player cant play rmvb can play mkv... but some mkv movie can some mkv movie cant.. same hang & stun... duno wat happen
vlc play rmvb & mkv also have the square square thing in the movie @@... dam

I'm not sure whats wrong, your HDD to laptop copying speed seem more realistic and show that USB 3.0 is working. Can try to reinstall the USB 3.0 driver from HP website?

Ok.. if you have any codec pack installed, try to remove it first.
Then install Real Alternative Lite 2.0.2 and Media Player Classic-Home Cinema. Don't forget to reset setting when u install MPC-HC.

i got 1 question for u guys. if im buying a dv6 from a retail shop. can i get extra warranty from hp? im interested to get 1 but not sure either 6000 series or 6100 series.

what u mean bro? u can always get the extra warranty from hp. but u need to register it within 10 days of your purchase.

install real alternative 1st then only install the MPCHC??
& when install the real alternative ned install the media player classic in there too???

you could try to install Splayer.Simple player with built in codecs!
got auto download subtitle also

*I am not sure that the x64 work a not but i found out that i don't really have any problem playing any kind of video*

If you have real player installed, uninstall it

1) go to Start > search for regedit.
2) Inside regedit go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\RealPlayer 12.0
3) delete the whole RealPlayer 12.0 key.

then install RealAlternative 2.0.2 from here.

I think this will solve the audio problem for some people that are playing rmvb file without audio.

but i seems to have problem playing some flv files.. currently googling out the problem. any sifu here want to help me on this? some flv can play using evr but some can't.. so when i play with flv files, i need to use haali.. hmm..

I'll make a system restore point before I reinstall Renesas's USB 3.0 controller from the link I found.

In Device Manager, under Universal Serial Bus Controller, I got 2 Renesas items both related to USB 3.0. So I think it's the correct driver. I'll try and see what happens.

EDIT: RESULTS ARE IN!

After reinstalling driver, I transferred multiple files...

From laptop to HDD: Max 50MB/s, Min 30MB/s

From HDD to laptop: Max 500MB/s (sustained for 1, maybe 2 seconds), Min 50MB/s

If transferring single files...

From laptop to HDD: Max 65MB/s, Min 55MB/s

From HDD to laptop: Currently unidentifiable; I transferred single files of about 800MB and it transferred instantaneously. Gonna try with bigger files later.
