ya I have exp this before as I don't have any credit card yet in two years back and wanna to buy a phone for installment, so I have to borrow cc from friend and try call to bank for make installment but end up I only pay by cash instead, due to extra charge will be in place.

But nowadays quite number of banks offer for 0% installment for many of shop, so we can make it possible try not get extra charge from banks, unless suddenly need to make installment AFTER purchased.

Thanks for your sharing!! thumbup.gif

seriously, those shops that offer you 0% instalment plan are still making money because they charge you retail price where as you actually can buy the phone at a cheaper rate at LYN garage sales section. the price difference can be of RM100 to RM300.

simple example, you can use Citibank card to buy a S3 at Senheng/SenQ with RM52.75 * 36 instalments = RM1,899, whereas you can buy from garage sales at RM16xx cash. the difference of RM2xx can be described as the interest for the instalment plan

Seriously????  shocking.gif  shocking.gif

but will check the price current market value now before go to get a phone, the phone of price also same with market between the retail shops?

So you mean better don't make for installment IF you are in under financial?

Is this price difference for all items which can be make for installment or only certain items??
*
this is what i noticed from the 0% instalment plan offered by majority merchants. their price are usually higher than cash price, you really need to make comparisons before buying

QUOTE(ronnie @ Jan 10 2013, 10:31 PM)
You do have a unique way at looking at 0% Installment
*
the difference is just too obvious if you compare the retail price with garage sales/lelong

if the price difference/interest charged is higher than the FD/market interest rate then it is not worth paying on instalment plan.

i also do what you did such as i bought a HP notebook from HP on 24 months 0% instalment plan after comparing other options

for sure will make the comparison first before go for it.

But sometimes 0% installment not bad for making too, as we can save moeny to bank for monthly installment or for somewhere else for necessary purpose, assume you are buying few thousand of item such as furniture, you could be enjoying its services, just like get service first but pay after.

Different people different thinking, at least under financial control, right???  biggrin.gif

If you have extra cash and dont want to pay extra then go for cash/cc one off settlement.

For better cash flow then pick instalment plan

the insurance comes with the cc, once the cc is cancelled then the insurance will be cancelled as well. you can call to prudential to cancel it as well if you don't it anymore. there is 14 days cooling off period, no need to pay anything

i have subscribed to the 0.65% insurance, i am sure that whenever you have statement balance, they will charge you the premium. if you don't want it, you can call to prudential to cancel it

today i called UOB to either apply another VOX or switch from ONE to VOX but the CS said GST will be charged. sienz. thinking of cancelling the ONE card now and re-apply later

To enjoy more rebates, get occbc titanium card and mbb 2 cards. This uob one card is only good to use after you have max out your cash rebates of the other 2

How much for the admin charges?  hmm.gif
*
around 1%, anyway UOB's foreign currency exchange rate is still higher than Maybank which is found to be having the best conversion rate, may be due to lower admin charge. therefore if you want to swipe your card overseas, better use MBB Visa or Mastercard

why is mbb2 cards better?..u mean for the gold card too?
*
mbb 2 gold & platinum have similar privileges, not much difference. i'll take MBB 2 instead of UOB One if there are limited options (those earning less than 36k pa can only own credit cards from 2 issuers)

QUOTE(celaw @ Feb 17 2013, 05:53 PM)
Hi, for uob vox 5% cash back online transaction, is it including online payment for the following?

1. Bill payment through uob online portal
2. PayPal transaction
3. Online payment made at the website, I.e. groupon, ACCA etc..
*
5% cash rebate on all online spending except for the following:-
i Insurance including insurance services, insurance continuity or subscription,
insurance sales, underwriting and/or premium;
ii Court costs including alimony and child support; and
iii Government related payments including government fines, government bail
and bond payments and government tax payments.
Note: For the cash rebate category of online spend, the maximum amount of cumulative
cash rebate awarded for both principal and supplementary UOB VOX Card (combined)
is capped at RM50 per calendar month (or such amount that UOBM may decide at its
absolute discretion).

From UOB Website

i have just got the Vox Card too, so far have not made any transaction. hope that i will get 5% rebate on all online transactions except stated above

Look this bill payment may not entitle 5 %

FROM UOB

On all your online purchases
*For online spend of up to RM1,000 per month. Cash rebates will be credited into your VOX card account by the 30th of the following month and excludes insurance, government utilities & bill payments only.
http://www1.uob.com.my/personal/cards/cred...b_vox_card.html
*
should refer to the T&C, anyway it is difficult to define 'bill payment', telco bill may be considered as bill payment too. since not much users have this card, we shall try and post the results here

QUOTE(celaw @ Feb 17 2013, 07:44 PM)
I see.. Planned to apply it, then could get 5% rebate for online purchase, i.e. GSC ticket and Paypal transaction and as a back up for my MBB2 Amex rclxm9.gif  laugh.gif

Between, is there any other hidden charges? Because I didn't see any annual fee in the website, just saw "fee waiver" only.. And there is a charges if there is no transaction during the month? icon_question.gif

For other retail transaction, I saw there is a max cap of RM1,000 rebate per year. This is excluding the RM50 rebate for the 5% online transaction right? hmm.gif
*
if you don't swipe your card once a month, they will charge your RM6 for that month. other than that, there is no annual fee. annual GST be separately mentioned.

i have just finished reading its T&C, through my understanding, you can never achieve RM1000 rebate per year since your maximum rebate per month is only RM80 and 80 x 12 = RM960 only. RM50 is the maximum cash rebate you can get for online transaction, for 'retail transactions' the maximum you can get is RM1000 x 3% which is RM30 per month. Add up only RM80 per month, consider very good if you can really utilise it. Anyway, for me it is not likely since i need to spend 8k in the previous month in order to get the 3% this month. afterall i don't think i can spend 8k in a month

according to the T & C, TNB should be treated as online transaction qualified for the 5% rebate
