QUOTE(adrianjc @ Dec 13 2011, 04:16 PM) Agreed. Logic is since it's going in together with my wiring my as well go for Cat 6. Malaysian ISP speeds are far from desirable... but much better than dial-up days. I remember the days of wanting to use MIRC past bedtime during school days and having to muffle the sound of the modem connecting. Hahahahaha... how times have changed. Last time when i use jaring dial-up, the local call number is per call, not per-min. And I can go online from 10pm till 5am Than came this Stupid TM making call charged per min. There go my BBS.

QUOTE(ozak @ Dec 13 2011, 06:16 PM) Unifi also not fast enough to stream bluray. I mean stream from your PC or NAS in your room to your big TV in the hall. That probaly require CAT6 cable. You sure about this? I don't think you can find any high transmission and throughput device that can take about 5 gigabyte of data per mins, and that is running on 1gbps which cat5e are capable of. To utilized cat6 is on 10gbps. You won't get any affordable 10gbps equipment for residential use. And most nas for residential is only 1gbps speed. Better invest on high throughput switc you see much better result. Network and IT is my bread and butter. Anything faster most industry use fiber between equipment and SAN some do use iscsi via LAN but that all on commercial use. Nas is just for low throughput usage. That probaly require CAT6 cable. Talk about fast, in Tokyo office we have 100mbps line. I can download a 4 gig DVD in just less than 8 mins, but the equipment hang for another few mins because the h.disk write speed just can't take it. QUOTE(coconutzz @ Dec 13 2011, 06:54 PM) Bro..no need tokyo wei..at my office...I m getting about 80-100Mbps average...did try a 2Gb file...i think done in 3-4 mins if I remembered correctly...legitimate demo file Not to showoff la. But to explain high speed is just speed but bottomneck is on equipment to. I rather have dedicated 2mbps line than so call fiber speed. We don't know what is streamyx or unify share ratio and the never publish. Hmm I think we oot too far.

QUOTE(ozak @ Dec 13 2011, 11:00 PM) I have some bluray file in my NAS. But my player can't play it. So I can't confirm it. But my stream equipment is just cat5 and N. Thaught cat6 should be ok. Anyway I did try some movie file similiar to bluray which is 25-45gb also. Stream ok, but my player running at max with some jerk. Old player. That is not network problem, is processing.

QUOTE(0126910937 @ Dec 16 2011, 12:14 AM) First off i would like to say u have a very nice renovation gooin on there, and i dont wanna sound like potong stim but 1 thing i wanna ask TS - Do u feel comfortably safe to post so in detail in pics of ur renovation work out in the open?... U not afraid some people might use it to - u know - do something bad... Actually why not comfortable? You not going to post where the key are place, what type of lock using, the household items inside, where the alarm system be? Sometime passerby know more detail, contractor know more detail. And postman also know more info that what we see in the photos.

QUOTE(sonerin @ Dec 18 2011, 06:49 PM) Do agree on the advantage of 2nd hand house. Then again new house have warranty. To be honest i had never bought 2nd house before so i cannot comment the good or bad. So far i had bought and stay in 2 houses which is new and is more convinient as is already in moving in condition. I guess less headache. Every try claim warranty before? Major problem like pipe leaking, crack, roof leaking they can do fast. Try tell them the floor not level, wall not plaster good enough (like wave). You be luck if they come fix it.

QUOTE(ozak @ Dec 19 2011, 10:30 AM) My new house developer have this kind of good service where they will call you ask how is your house condition and any problem or not. That time I feel strange cause never hear any this kind of service before. And they have 1year temporary guard at the main entrance road once the developer finish that housing area. Later I found out that, the developer is applying for ISOXXXX. Which require some standard procedure. I know Like See Hoy Chan, Sun Rise are good. Try IGB haha, and worse Talam. Especially Talam you not buying a house, you buying a lan only.

QUOTE(hahagang @ Dec 20 2011, 12:23 AM) It is nice to read your post and I can feel it is not an easy task. However, I wonder how could the errors happened on the following and you have to get the contractor to redo : The roof of the carpark porch demolished and rebuild according to your needs. The staircase was redo again. The location of the back door. Is the contractor not follow your intruction or they just did it without your knowledge ? Sometime is not because of contractor. It could be something missed out or miss communication. Or sometime the plan (or want) don't come out practical / nice after build up.
