QUOTE(Maplin @ Apr 16 2012, 05:08 PM)
Hi Bro, looks like you have installed the Grundfos Pump with a pressure tank. Let me tell you my horror story about this pump.
I have installed the same pump about 5 years ago at my house based on the advice from my solarmate water heater supplier to increase the pressure of the shower and etc.

It was so good until I started to face pipe burst (after 2 years) inside the wall. So, called the original plumber to check and he said that it is due to poor quality of pipe installed by developer. Within a weeks time, the same pipe burst again but at different place!! I was not happy with my old plumber, so I called another plumber and he told me the same thing (quality of the pipe not good). Since then, it became a routine to replace burst pipes every now and then in my whole house. I have used almost 6 different plumber but all of them blamed the original pipe installed by the developer was very low in quality (thin its seems).
I realised that I could hear funny sound from the celling everytime I on and off the water tap. So I suspected it could be the pump that I installed. So I called Grundfos @ Glenmarie and to my suprise, they told me that any Grundfos pump with a tank need to be service every 6 months once!!!!
The Grundfos technician who visited my house told me that due to inconsistent of pressure at pump could lead to burst pipe. He advice to service the pump every 6 months once to avoid such problem!!!!

So do remember to service your pump every six months once.

Good luck!
*
Thanks for the reminder to service my pump.
My supplier advised to service the pump pressure tank every 9-12 months. nod.gif

From your description, it seems that your woes are more from your pipes than from your pump. hmm.gif

As far as I understand, all pump with pressure tank are "gentle" on the house piping system compared to pump without pressure tank.
This pump model that I use is "gentler" compared to most pump with pressure tank, as it has an additional adjustable pressure setting with built-in dry-running protection for automatic start/stop.

I use PVC7 for my water pipes as I understand from this forum that this pipe model is strong. flex.gif
My contractor and another plumber confirmed this.

Renovation Updates :

The Final Frontier... My rooftop

Asked the Solar Water Heating System Supplier to take a look at my unit recently
When they were here I followed them up the roof. icon_idea.gif
Never been to the top of my house myself and I never seen the actual Solar water heating unit before this. blink.gif

Damm high up, having second thoughts when I saw this. sweat.gif

Something like this but not with the "string" for the ceiling attachment.
Do not want the structure to "swing", want it to be "fixed" flex.gif

May I know what tiles are you using for kitchen wall tiles?
*
If I remember right its a 1' X 2' guocera ceramic tiles.
Initially wanted to use 3G panels like those on the kitchen cabinet but since no budget for kitchen cabinet so better tile up the wall first.

phoenix, got the complete photo of ur house or not?

Added on May 8, 2012, 5:12 pmPhoenix, it is a must to install solar heater if want to install rain shower?
My new house at USJ too, the water pressure doesn't looks good for first floor.
*
To install rain shower, there are many options.

The economical way is to install those instant water heater that comes with rain shower.

If install solar water heater, then usually the internal piping are placed to accommodate this system.
The piping cost are needs renovation/wall hacking to put up thus costly.
Solar water heater system usually include pump.
With pump, water pressure strong throughout the house so no problem with rain shower which require relatively higher water pressure.

Renovation Updates - Finishing Details

Painting my Doors,
Previously bought a few bare unpainted wooden doors and installed it while waiting for my contractor to help me paint it later.
Sad to say the guy "disappeared" doh.gif (another example of a irresponsible contractor mad.gif )
So after waiting a few months for the guy to appear, I finally decided to get another indonesian to help me paint the door.
This is what he did

Sandpaper the door
Slap paint on it
Sand the door again
Slap a final coat of paint on it
Paint the frame..

Renovation Updates

Clothes Hanger :- after thinking and rethinking on what and how to install the clothes hanger in my laundry area hmm.gif ,
finally decided to go with zheilwane suggestion. icon_rolleyes.gif
Initially was worried that it will swing, but after looking at the product in Homedec 2012,
I realized that it can be " locked" to the ceiling when it is fully raised, thus no swinging. nod.gif
(Also I realized that to install a clothes hanger in the laundry room area myself is darn difficult tongue.gif )

The installation process

Screwing in the fittings to the roof truss
user posted imageuser posted imageuser posted image

Screwing in the winch to the wall and aligning the cables
user posted imageuser posted image

Adjusting and fitting the rods.
Too Long, need to saw off 6" to fit my area.
user posted imageuser posted image

Testing and aligning
user posted imageuser posted image

The Result

Now no need to dry clothes in the driveway. laugh.gif
