Renovation Updates - Stuffing my Understairs Store room

I was thinking to maximize the storage ability of my small triangular understairs space.

Renovation Updates - My first DIY

My security door at the back has a design with a large mini door opening.
Its OK but need to close it all the time as wifey is worried that rats and other animals might get in between the large bars.
As it is in the laundry area the opening will allow good air flow for clothes drying.
So I need something to allow good air flow while keeping the stray out.  hmm.gif
This is what I came up with.
Total Price : RM 29.30 + A little help from an engineering maintanence collegue.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Major Parts
1. Steel Mesh RM 4.00
2. Steel bars + Cut to size RM 12.00
user posted imageuser posted image

A little welding help from my Collegue  tongue.gif  (Steel Mesh too fime for welding so foldover)
user posted image

Minor Parts
1. Duct Tape  RM 3.90 X 2 roll
2. Cable Tie RM 5.50
user posted image

A little Handiwork to tape the edges (provide cushion to minimize friction to protect door powder coating) to hold it all together.  sweat.gif

Installation (Just right) - Tie it to the door window bars with cable tie

Ta Daa - Finished result (even closing the mini door is no problem)  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi, I have been following your journey and thanks! Your home turns out beautifully!

I m planning to get the similiar design Security door, but would like to use magnetic mosquito screen on it. Do u think a magnet is able to stick on it? Have u tried it? Tq!

I was looking at mosquito screen option earlier but settled for this as the pest I wanted to keep out was rats.
Mosquito screen should be OK, the screen does not magnetize to the door material but to strips that you double sided tape to the door frame.
This is all comes with the mosquito screen kit. icon_rolleyes.gif

Looking at prices of house right now, many people want to work for bank also not qualified. rclxub.gif

If sell house for profit then will not renovate so much, thus wont appear here.. blush.gif
