what if.. i use the huawei power adapter with higher amp (1.0A) on my galaxy 5..
I know that my x5 need more charging power compare to my G5 based on the screen size, cpu, etc..

will it cause any harm?
or there is way to check on this? maybe some indicator on the battery or somethin like that?

once it detected the voltage too high, it will auto cut of the power..

Higher amperage is okay if the voltage is regulated. 5A also no problem. Take current as the adaptor's capability. Voltage is the force.

Hmm, last time when i tried to charge a N97 mini through my emergency charger with a very low output amperage and it did not charge. Also, if the equipment is switch off during charging, the risk you mentioned still exist?


Most branded smartphones have it, but not 100% of the phone have it.

5A also no problem? I really hope to see there are emergency chargers with that kind of output seriously. Most of the emergency charger takes too long to charge the phone battery during outing......

example:
our house TNB power source is 230V @ 13amp... but u used 230V @ 1amp++ equipment without any issues...

but if u using the equipment required at least 15amp, definitely will overload the wiring and ELCB may trip...

FYI, our common USB port just deliver 0.5amp to USB devices, believe most of smart phone users used the USB port to charge their smart phone (if forced to do so)... due to this issues, most of motherboard manufacturer offered the USB port with higher amp 0.9-1.8amp if detected smart phone for charging purpose... it can be fasten the charging speed and reduce the USB port's burden...

but still still recommended to use the stock charger, believe that they have the reasons to design the power adapter based on their hp's requirements, maybe some hp cant suit with different power adapter... otherwise maybe the cost concerned to manufacture power adapter that higher amp = better component = higher cost...

anyway, i have a adjustable PSU which can support up to 30V @ 18amp, but i plug the power source on customer's equipment for check up purpose which required 12V @ 2amp (of course i have to adjust to 12V as ouput butamp load no adjustable)... no problem so far...


it can be the safety features of the handphone to prevent overload ur power adapter and ur handphone forced to suck more juice from it...

in the market have 5amp power adapter, as what i said cost concerned and lead higher price which doesnt bring much beneficial to hand phone users and manufacturer as hp just required around 1amp...

but... i still will stick with my stock charger to prevent unnecessary hassle in the future...
