Ford parts are very very very expensive, not suitable for first car owners or newly joined the workforce

japanese second hand or taiwan parts are plenty

Ford nobody carry parts, all have to go back to SDAC, or if got OEM is also imported from spain or poland etc.

u get what u paid for, original parts are always (twice) better than taiwan made stuff. I've tried and tested both in a number of components, original parts always last at least twice as long as taiwan made parts. although they are almost double or triple the price, but u'll get double or triple the durability, as i've said, u get what u paid for. and FYI for those who doesn't know, new japanese car parts are almost similar in price with ford

This reminds me on the headlamp set for my Wira.... Original Bosch cost rm4++ while Taiwan cost rm2++..... But the Taiwan set will deform faster than original.....
Another good example is the oil filter, a made in Japan Nissan cost rm27 while made for Tan Chong cost rm26..... Tested both using filter paper, with Japan mari, the oil less particals while the other got more....

Yeah but ford parts are extra expensive because for some odd reason eventhough they are made in thailand, parts come from germany.

For japanese parts there are a lot of OEM manafacturers locally, even the ori parts i think some are made locally or thailand also.

Wiper blade is RM160 PER SIDE ori price, Battery is RM600 because of odd size, barke pads from 400, rear 700, front windscreen RM3718.50

price taken from Fomec forum

if u are, go for jazz..
it helps a lot if u're driving in city...
easy to park...
make sure u learn how to park REVERSE since parking nowdays are smaller and much more compact...

TS,
Between d Focus n d Jazz, get d Jazz unless ur pretty confident u can handle d maintenance of d Ford. D Jazz is kinda funky in terms of design n excellent in terms of practicality but dull in d driving department. If u still wanna get it, try to look for 1 tat as full service history especially for d gearbox.

But if ur really a motoring noob, best to settle wit a new car n let d warranty n SC handle d maintenance. Wait for d new Myvi or Persona (if u wan practicality), try d Neo (nice drive but seriously for singles), n if u can stretch ur budget a bit, consider d Fiesta (very good handling).

The jazz is overpriced for what it is, even 2nd hand. The focus is larger, safer and a better handling car and its 2.0 vs 1.6 for the jazz

parts for ford is expensive IF you go back to Sime Darby...now with the huge explosion of new TDCI and Fiesta owners, you will see parts price dropping as outside workshops start stocking up on ford parts

I have a Focus 2.0, regular servicing is no more expensive then for my other cars, used to have a Ford Ranger as well...so im quite familiar with Auto connexion..they arnt great, but there are far worse dealers..in fact.i get better service at Ford with my rm80k Ranger..then at VW with my 200k car

If you are able to absorb the slighly higher FC and parts prices for the Focus, you are getting a MUCH better car for the same price as the 3 year older Jazz

ya cuz if you consider a City. Which is exactly the same like a Jazz just that one is a sedan and the other is a hatch. With your budget, can get a 2008 City Vtec which is newer and should be less problematic too.

jazz is nice in terms of design and reliability. The resale value is insanely overprices. But if you like it's design and don't mind paying for the premium price (even for secondhand) then go for it.

ford focus is also a very nice car and reliable. The only problem with this car is slightly higher maintainence cost compared to jazz. But at least it is not over priced. Apart from this, I would say focus is superior to jazz in every other things. Get this if you don't mind the low resale value and the slightly higher maintenance cost. Not like it's high like BMW or Merc.

It still is a more reliable car cause it is year 2008 compared to the 2005 jazz. 3 years is a lot of difference for a car's age.

Personally, I would go for focus purely due to it's age. Cause I know something called MTBF (mean time between failure). There are parts in cars that no matter how you take care, it had to be replace after x number of days.

i just test driven the focus tdci hatch ( and was suprise when they told me got tdci sedan)....tested both the cars and immediately sign the pre-booking slip.

waiting for loan to be approved n settle the booking/dp later. Its a fking amazing car! Now got 7K discount plus free tinting at the PJ (beside federal highway) branch..

The torque is mindblowing especially when in S mode

btw while driving back home - i missed one question. what is the road tax for 2.0 Diesel car? i know 2.0 Petrol is about 400 or so..what about diesel? any idea?
