QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Jul 4 2011, 12:12 PM) Could you run a longer test for around 12 hours? There seems to be a pattern with the 3 hours burst period -> 3 hours 1mbps cap -> 3 hours burst. It may be TM's new congestion avoidance system which would mean they're using a 2 hour+ sample window. Is your local traffic affected (speedtest.net) during the 1mbps period? Will test out later when got something like 20GB to download.. If it's true, then needs to stop and start after 2 hour? or they sample by an IP.. See this in SOMA by Jaring before.. But's it's so obvious with burst time set to 10 sec. 1Mbps full speed for 10 sec than drop to 75%. New connection full speed by 10 sec than drop back to 75%. |

Orait 20 hour of donwload.. A little bit slowdown at noon and worser at 10pm.
Noon after restart the traffic it's OK a while.. At 10pm, seems the traffic to international is congested. Local speed test do bring the speed to full. This time no 3 hour capping as seen in previous graf. This post has been edited by aneip: Jul 6 2011, 03:11 PM |

QUOTE(anechoic @ Jul 7 2011, 06:28 PM) more network knowledge u need.. capping is based on amount of bandwidth you use..as long as you reach the capping limit e.g 60GB..ur speed will be capped or throttled.. wow.. I think my knowledge is enough to ask the question I asked. Don't wanna to show off.. Maybe my english is not so good. But my network knowledge far from home user.also, line speed is determined at hardware level i.e at the exchange level..not username.. I talking about speed capping. As for streamyx, there are 2 capping. 1 at DSLAM level which you can see in modem status, another 1 is at username level. My hometown use 384kbps package, but the DSLAM capping is 2Mbps. Whenever I go back to hometown, I use my username which is 1Mbps so I can get 1Mbps speed even though registered package there is 384. I wanna know about FTTH or VDSL in unifi. What kind of speed capping they use. Maybe you are correct the cap at hardware level, that's why I want to knowt. If you got 2 account which is different speed. I love to know what happen if you switch the username. House A - 5Mbps House B - 10Mbps Exchange username, what speed you get for both house? if they capping at hardware level speed will be the same. If the cap both username and hardware then both will be 5mps (whichever lower). In conclusion this question have nothing to do with 60 GB quota. BTW, thinking back again, there should have ability to cap based on username so the can enforce quota whenever they decide to. |

QUOTE(heavendevil @ Jul 8 2011, 04:33 PM) I've got a question, is it necessary to change the wifi channel from time to time? I lost my connection just now and I called unifi, the guy told me to switch channel and it worked. Basically you need to use the different channel from you neighbour so it's will not cancelled each other. |

QUOTE(iqa1309 @ Jul 10 2011, 11:36 PM) Hi, The FTTH support up to 2.5 Gbps bandwidth.Sorry. Off-topic a bit. Would there be any chance that Unifi can be upgraded to 100 Mbit/sec or even 1 GBit/sec in the future without laying new cable or infrastructure ? Mmm...wondering when will Malaysians (if ever) be able to experience 1 Gbit/sec ? Added on July 10, 2011, 11:41 pm QUOTE(sheeta @ Jul 10 2011, 10:35 PM) hi guys, The one with antenna. Before this TM only using Dlink (white+orange colour). Now they also got Black 1 from TMRND.i just got my UniFi today but sadly my room has no signal at all. I have to go to the living room (where the set is stalled) to get my connection. I searched previous threads and found many ppl talking about replacing DIR-615. My question is what is a DIR-615? Cox I dun seem to have this router. I only have the RG (TMRND Gen 1.0), the BTU, the box for the TV and the phone. Please advice. This post has been edited by aneip: Jul 10 2011, 11:41 PM |

Anyone know when the tested the fiber signal, what kind of unit they use? My neighbour got problem with his iptv where the picture is jerked. The speed also less than 5 Mbps.
When the technician come they measure he signal is about 17. The technician said above 25 is problematic. Just to be sure, when I got mine installed my signal is 27. But I not getting any symptom. Iptv is ok, download is ok. Except at midnight or sometime can see Tm shaping in progress. Other than that I line is good. |

Outside fiber to BTU is (fiber)..
BTU need to connect to 1) Phone line (normal phone cable) 2) RG (router) Ethernet cable. RG need to connect to 1) STB (IPTV) - ethernet cable 2) PC - ethernet cable or wifi All cable is 15 meter maximun. |

QUOTE(GreenSamurai @ Jul 11 2011, 11:08 PM) Yea the problem is now my new house has no coverage and no one else wants to take over my unifi sigh Since the new house have no coverage, can't you ask them to put you contract on hold? I think it's posible with the help of SKMM. Unless in TnC already have terms about moving to new place without coverage. |
