Hope the current generation of Kia's are better than previous which had endless problems. I also know of many Forte owners who are starting to have problems with their gearboxes, etc already. Not the kind of scenario Kia would want to have if they wish to improve their brand image here in Malaysia.

But i would suggest waiting till the Hyundai Avante is launched in less than 2 months time. That car is really doing well and so far it seems to be way better than the Forte. Hope the prices are competitive.

I think the price is too high for a Kia. They should have priced it about RM 130K max only. Despite its good looks and specs, the price will kill it. We cannot anticipate the success of the Sportage based on the Forte as the main reason the Forte is selling well in Malaysia is because of its lower pricing together with its good specs. Without good pricing, Korean makes will not sell well. That's a fact.

Look at the Hyundai Sonata for example. How many do you see on the road today? Despite all its hype, it only sold 1,367 units this year compared to the much older Toyota Camry which sold 2,599 units. Specs alone couldnt boost its sales. If they had priced it lower by about 7K, its sales would have been much better for sure.

Lets hope the Hyundai AVante doesnt meet the same fate.

well, its great for new sonata to have half the figure of toyota.

but 1 thing for sure, 1 is korean and 1 is conti, in terms of image, its miles apart.

btw, both under same company, so, the value and ASS and spare part, should not be too far apart.

the avante 1.6 in s'pore is price at 97k...as for forte,its 85k in s'pore...if we compare it in m'sia..a naza badged forte is at 85k..so its possibe the avante will reach 100k here in m'sia...hopefully its lower than that

I have been using Forte about 1 1/2 years and not incurred any problems at all. Since my car is the ealiest batch, i have purchased the extended warranty to cover up to 5 years with unlimited mileage. I plan to fully use it till the end of the 4th year before selling off with remaining of one year warranty. I anticipate 4 years of trouble free motoring from Forte with low maintainance cost.
My next target buy would be Kia K5 with 5 years warranty too

Price now confirmed at RM 138,888 OTR w insurance . Just when we taught NAZA was starting to do something interesting with the price introduction as shown with FORTE they go and do something f'ed. Was thinking of buying new car/suv but the new price really put a dent on it already. Will wait for some other new models to come out this year before making a purchase. Really

Have you read the terms and conditions of the extended warranty? As far as i know the extended warranty only covers certain parts unlike the normal warranty.

Yes. Exactly my stand as well. RM 138K++ is not a good price for a Korean make even though its a CBU.

So far ive been quite accurate about my predictions and assessments. When the Forte was launched, many ppl said it will thrash the Vios, Altis and Civic but clearly thats not the case now. Forte has only managed to match the sales of the Altis while the Vios and Civic are still miles ahead.

Same thing was said about the Sonata when it was launched. Many said it will thrash the Camry due to its impressive design and good specs but today the Sonata sales are still 50% less than the ageing Camry. When the new Camry is launched next year, what will happen to the Sonata then?

So im now saying this about the Kia Sportage. They made a big mistake pricing it so high. If it had been RM 130K or less, it would have been another revelation like the Forte. But Naza was too greedy. Based on the success of the Forte they thought they can push the Sportage price higher. Typical Malaysian mentality. Greedy.

Planning to sell after 4 yrs only?? Be prepared for a massive loss in resale value my friend. May i suggest you spend your money investing in property rather than wasting it changing cars every 4 yrs?

obviously he is rich enough to do that not everyone needs to drive a p1/p2 for the rest of the life. some are rich already.

Just bring them to the showroom and compare the two cars sportage is a new car with loads of features and it stands out from alll the SUV because of the design.. But u know la Malaysians and their mentality towards Korean cars is abit on the negative side.. It's your car you should decide what u like! ASX is abit dated to me..

Yes, definitely, i understand the importance of investment. For the past 8 years of investment, i am now harvesting the fruits of my pofolio and at the same time continue looking for oppotunities. Forte is just my second car whish i use for my daily work route. I just felt funny and unsecure to drive a vios or a city as I just budgeted RM80,000 for my second car and of course i do want to spend an extra RM40,000 to have a civic which is a better car but relatively so much more expensive compare to Forte.
I do have a BMW E60 which my wife is using it to send kids to school and also for family usage.
I do not use the BMW is because of the terrible jam during rush hours

ASX is crap compared to the Sportage. Why do u think its sales are soo damn poor? Really not worth its price tag. Total flop if u ask me.

It is abit overpriced as many people said. Even my current sportage also not enough to pay the downpayment(Kia quote me RM12k).

About ASX, I scared it will become Proton like what happened to Lancer
