I think its because Japan are more to portable gaming...it would consider okay for home console to have this sales...

Japan economics are bad with all the tax rises.... No one care actually buy it.
Japan market for gaming has decline so bad in all platforms even the PS4.
I wouldn't be surprise if more localization happens in the future.

How does region lock actually help for Wii U.. All the games are mostly available in each region. Unless you are talking about 3DS different story.

People just like to blame on things when they don't know the real truth behind it. haha.

The recent increase of sales is really awesome though..
If when Smash, X and Hyrule Warriors is out and the Wii U sales still doesn't increase well..
It's probably the end imo.

Smash may get the same hype. Tapi, we can't be so sure. Mario kart has always been a household name, only because, it is that damn fun.

The same can be said for 3D World and NSMBU (but to a lesser effect). But kart on a console is where the real heart is.

if their own game cannot drive the hype of selling own console more, how can they convince other developer to make games for them?

imagine you're the developer. you see the sales of wiiU and 3ds. which one you gonna make games to? which consoles sales gonna convince you to make game for?

There are too many hype for MK8, best one is definitely the Luigi death stare lol!
I hope at E3 Nintendo is going to announce a lot of awesome games.
