So far so good for F1 JVP Mod V5...I would say it is as fast as darky v10.1. Very smooth.

What I don't like is that there is only 1 lockscreen and 1 Samsung Keyboard. Hope that he will add the 5 lockscreen in future release.

This are the extra features add to the stock XXJVP...
• Based on XXJVP Firmware
• Multi CSC
• De-odexed
• Rooted
• Busybox installed
• Superuser installed
• Zip-Aligned
• All Samsung Apps
• No 3rd Party Apps
• Build.prop Modifications
• CWM 2 & 3 Compatible
• init.d Support
• LagFix Support
• Dark Core Kernel
• Voodoo Lagfix
• Quadrant Score 1900+
• CRT Off Animation (Enable all animations in display settings)
• Translucent Background in TouchWiz
• No Tile Background Under Apps Icons in TouchWiz
• Landscape in TouchWiz
• Extended Power Menu (Reboot, Recovery & Download)
• % Percentage Battery Icon
• Nexus S Connectivity Icons
• Dialer Landscape Support
• Huge Apns List
• 3D fix (No more blur in 3D Launchers and Apps)
• SIP Calling (Also works with 3G)
• Hacked Browser (16+ Tabs)
• Hacked Camera App (Low Battery + Shutter + Shoot From Power Button)
• Landscape in TouchWiz Launcher
• Juwe's RAM Optimization Script
• AOSP Lockscreen
• Hacked AdBlock Host File (No more Ads in Apps and Games)
• BLN Support (Requires BLN Control App from Market)

My SGS use to crash and hang a lot and I think i know what has been causing it. Its LauncherPro Plus that I am using. The LauncherPro seems to take long time to start after each reboot and I experience Widgets crash and not showing.

Now I switch to GoLauncher my SGS have not experience unusual hang and crash. Hopefully I have solve my SGS crash and hang problems.

the F1 JVP mod looks good. reading about it now. any 1 on it?

cheers
currently on Ramad's deodexed JVP + speedmod k15h t5
*
yes, I just flash to F1 JVP V5 yesterday. Its got all the features I wanted, but the look is stock which is a little messy if you have got use to the simply black theme.

Only 1 Lockscreen. And Samsung keyboard and swype...no Gingerbread keyboard.

Speed wise is great. No complaint here. Notice a bug that somehow bring me to phone dialer and I can't exit with the back button. I have to press the Home button to get out.

The Cell Standby bug is still here. For all the 3 version GB i flash ie. stock, Darky Extreme V10.1 and F1 JVP V5 the Cell Standby just eat up my battery right after i flash. Not sure why but it happens to all GB. But it disappear after that.

Why those Apps (Like Angry Bird & Etc.) always come with some Ads?
*
Because its free version so somebody got to pay the developers and this case the advertisers. You can stop the ads if you're rooted.

I am on F1 JVP V5 and it includes hack that stops all the ads.

haha.normal la.but i really hate using itunes.it make my pc slow.drag and drop easy to the max.
*
I actually find iTunes much better for me to manage my songs. Here is why.

When you copy your songs direct to your SGS and open up music player, you have all your songs. But If i want to add playlist then I have to create a playlist and then scroll thru all your songs just to select the songs you wanted to add to your playlist. Very slow and painful process. You can try copy 50 folders with 20 songs each folder and try to create playlist for each one and you will know what i mean.

For Itunes, I can manage and my create my playlist, drag and drop my mp3 into the playlist and sync into the iphones and its all there. I can start enjoy all the songs in my playlist. I also prefer to work with my PC on this thing because the phone screen is too small and typing on the PC is much faster. And its so much faster to manage my songs in itunes than on the phone itself.

So I don't see anything wrong with using itunes to manage my musics and sync it to the phones.

*
Itunes is drag n drop too. just drag and drop your mp3 into itunes and when you plug in your phones it will automatically sync to the iphones. Instead of dragging direct to your phone, you drag to itunes. So what is so different here?

I am just trying to make a point here that it is actually best to transfer songs via itunes as it easier to manage the songs collection.

Simply drag and drop into SGS sound great, but the nightmare begins when you start to play and manage your songs in your phones especially if you have hundreds of songs.

I use an iPhone 4 and I dislike iTunes. I prefer using USB file transfer because it's universal and I don't need to install Apple's software. Also if I want to select an MP3/OGG file as a ringtone I first have to convert it to .m4r then use iTunes to drag and drop. And as for SMS tones it's impossible even with iTunes unless I jailbreak.
*
Non of these are problems at all if you jailbreak the iphones. I don't see why you would root your SGS but not jailbreak the iphones.

MP3 is one thing, but having iTunes to convert all your video files is such a pain. Luckily SGS supports direct transfer and most codec.
*
yes, it good that SGS supports most video codec. But I still convert my video files 1. to reduce the filesize 2. to reduce the video size to fit the SGS screensize so that it use less cpu power when playing it. No point putting a 1080P movie in there while the screen size is only 480x800.

i'm not quite sure what you mean by breaking the sync between each update of itunes. this never happens to me.

even though i'm not here to decide which one of the platform is better but I can't deny the apple side has got better store ecosystem and economy. keeping everything under itunes supports the existence of the system where by people can buy songs, apps, books, podcast all controlled under 1 hood.

the convenience or freedom it's just the matter of preference. so far I finds that having too much freedom in android isn't appeal that much to certain developers and mass users.

Use ADB. Need some time to set it up first.
Meaning if you decide that you want to use another software to manage your media, the next update for itunes and iOS will break the sync support for that software. Apple will want to lock you into using Itunes.

The reason is very simple. Other software like winamp or banshee in Linux has their own music store or podcast. This scares apple to death. They want people to buy music from itunes (they make 30% cut from it), not from another music store.

Having a software that manages all your media, podcasts, ebooks and all that is very nice. However, when you are forced to use buggy itunes only, it is an disadvantage to consumer POV because they are restricted to one choice only.

That is a monopoly. I like a platform where competition is present because it will always spur better innovations.
*
When you own a music store, what do you do when your client walk in. Tell them to go next door to buy?

The front door was never locked! That is how the customer got in. What the owner did was to make sure the customer don't have the key to the back door so that they can come back later to steal the records.

ok let me rephrase, the door is a one way door only in no out hahahaha

so how does the customer come back later? they are all happy in their own "happy land" if u know what i mean XD

if the owner wants to play fair, they should allow healthy competition and not tell them "I'm always the best, dont go elsewhere, its dangerous"

so look back, whats the difference with locking the door? freedom is something we have, simplicity is something we desire, if the desire comes with a T&C then i might as well enjoy my freedom

Some people(or should I say most people) prefer to shop in Pavillion where every shops are quality controlled by the management and everything they buy is authentic. While some like it in the Pasar Malam where the shops have the freedom to sell whatever they want. Its pretty obvious where most people choose to go and trying to tell them that they are stupid anly make you look stupid.

So you got your choice now. If freedom is what you brag about so much, then you already know your choice.

I've had an Ipod and I currently have an SGS. I've used ITunes on the Ipod and Itunes to sync music to my SGS as well. I've also used winamp to wirelessly sync music to my android device. I know you can't sync music wirelessly over ITunes...unless they've changed that. My opinion is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. We had this exact same discussion about Apple vs Android tens of pages ago started by the same guy who started this argument again. Can't we just agree to disagree and continue discussing more productive stuff? Like how we helped darkz88 solve his flashing problem? Btw lightning69, hows ur GPS issue?
*
I don't wanna try it now cos I don't have 3G or wifi connection where I am now. Will wait till get back home to try my GPS again. So far my SGS is behaving like it should be without crash or hang. Just the Cell Standby that happens every time I flash new GB roms.

Cell Standby is not ok. I went to sleep with 50% battery and wake up 7 hrs later with flat battery. And this is with Airplane mode turn on so cell radio is off. On normal day, I only use like 1% battery when I sleep.

So far I never experience Andriod OS bug but Cell Standby is my main problem.

I cannot go to Android Market because I don't have 3G and Wifi where I am now. That lead to another disappoint thing about Android is that it cannot support Adhoc connection. I have try wpa supplicant but only cannot get pass getting the ip address. I only have wired connection to my laptop so I really need Adhoc to get my SGS on the net.

Those setting you recommended is what I did but still no go for Papago.

Thanks for your help.

Yes..that is Adhoc connection and Android cannot support adhoc connections. That is disappointing because sometimes I am in a hotel where I have wired connections but cannot share with android devices.
