tried out Galaxy on Fire 2 -- finally found a connection fast enough for me to download the 500+mb installation.

not bad... maximise the tegra chip... if you dun mind the 500+mb install files needed to play the game, head here:
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.f...alaxyonFire2THD

the initial download should be only a few MB. dem cheating... when u launch the game, it will tell you to download 500+mb of files.

its not cheating, this is normal for games on the android market as the limit there is 25mb only maximum. Most 3d games like games from gameloft also do the same thing, download the base program, then it will download the rest of the game content off their servers.
*
ya, i know its not cheating... but i was kinda shocked when i started the game and it prompted me to d/load 500mb. i had installed it 1+week back and only today managed to download the 500mb... house streamyx @ 512kbps was just too slow... smile.gif

silly me,

how to use gps on eee pad?
*
you can use google maps (or was it navigation -- can't remember... it should already have been pre-installed). i think could be my location or sth...

its quite simple to use though. i tried it out... you will get text instructions on how to reach your destination. there's no voice navigation at the moment for Google Map but there's a way around it... needs rooting.

update:
silly me... just remembered i have the TF with me today @ work.

its called maps. at the top right, you should be able to see some icons. the diamond icon with an arrow is the directions. press that and select your location... the instructions will appear after that.

I search around other countries forums mostly them recommend a500 than tf101,but y malaysia and singapore here seem tf101 receiving higher attention?
*
it boils down a lot of needs...

if you read gadget reviews... TF101 comes highly recommended. so not very sure what country forums you are referring to.

as mentioned, it depends on needs. TF101 tablet (without dock) does not have USB. but with dock, TF101 is a new beast all together.

Its different actually because google earth is like those globe you used to use when you were young in primary/secondary school, you get to hold the entire world in your hands..in way...
*
never actually tested everything, but i thought maps was based on Google Earth... as in... just zoom out and you still get the globe... lol...

i prefer to wait until this is fixed by Asus. already identified its a missing '0' in the codes. so, i'm expecting this to be corrected in one of Asus's updates... smile.gif

To put it simply, if you root you can do backups of your apps, you can install custom roms (essentially enhanced version of your firmware) and other stuff that you're normally not able to do. take it like you have full access to your internal filesystem where you can tinker as you wish. If you dont have root you cant tinker with the internal filesystem. The bad side of root is that if you dont know what you're doing, you can basically kill or destroy your device (also known as "brick" your device). However the chances are somewhat slim nowadays unless you really scr*w up badly..if you're still new I advice to google and read up first before attempting. it is not for the faint of heart especially when things go wrong.
*
another way to explain...

root means getting administrator rights on your Windows XP. normally, we get Power User and can do a lot of stuffs already.

with administrator/ root access, you can do even more... and potentially crashing XP. when that happens... reinstall/ reflash lor... smile.gif
