Whoa... 3 taps for the kitchen.... must be a huge basin.

No lah...bad design for water filter. 2 for 2 sinks, 1 for water filter.

It would be even nicer if you box up the kitchen hood's ventilation hose

agree.. is it possible for the hose to go out through the ceiling( not through roof, the exhaust hole come out at outside ceiling below the cutter) instead of the wall tiles.. then box up the kitchen hood's hose

Agree..that is one of the eye-sore area. Consider going through the ceiling too, but the gap between the roof tiles and beam is too narrow. At the existing low position (due to the beam) of hose exit, box up also not possible.

ICI pearl glo...I think it is not the paint issue, it is the colour theme use.

The moment you give the work to them, you are snared. Indonesians' workmanship definitely sucks. The good workmanship that you may see is only in the beginning to con you in letting your guard down. Everything that an Indonesian worker produces, you must personally look at them when they do or you cannot imagine what is being covered.

I am like you, race and nationality blind until this painful experience with this conman and the rest of the Indonesian workers.

If can, warn your neighbours and friends about Indonesian contractors.

Still, you shouldn't gone into generalisation them... my house was pretty much renovated/touched(wet works) by 100% indon, eventhough my contractor is a Chinese.. I'm so satisfy with their work, their courtesy in answering all my questions/requests.. Is like maids, not all are bad, some are too good for you to even let them go back home!

I say 9 out of 10 and you probably got the 10th ones.

I am now rectifying the below-standard work and the mess by these bunch of Indonesians.

Anyway to others, please beware if you intend to use Indonesian contractor.

Their price is cheap when they quote to you in order to trap you. Once you are hooked, they will do their work in such a way that it is with lots of loose ends all over and in a mess. Their objective is to make you pay more as you progress further into the works and they perfected this trick. The thinking is to make you pay almost a good contractor price while leaving only a small savings to make it looks like you gain and you think it is alright. It is not as their workmanship sucks.

This will make it difficult for you to continue should they stopped work in between. Don't believe, wait till you see they immediately stopped work if their demands are not met. I bought a friend along who knows about renovation and he becomes very displeased. It is also because he knows that we are starting to be suspicious. Then he disappeared though still taking my calls as if to mock me but will never show up personally no mattar what. He also knows other victims are hunting him down as well.

They will lead you by the nose and demand more money as you are at their mercy now.

It is a painful experience to meet this hantu.

btw..based on your experience described above, I believe we have had forummers experiencing the same when they deal with other races... we are living in a con world anyway.

My Chinese contractor boss, also use Indo worker. Work not perfect, but acceptable lah. He do missed some, even floor level some area bit sunken . One wall i notice is not very straight too.

Well, to me is acceptable lah. I have a friend very detail and perfectionist and he spend 3x the reno i paid for a slightly bigger house. If really want perfection, price is always the factor.

That was my thinking until met this Indonesian hantu.

We are not looking for perfect workmanship which we knows it will cost much more. We thought that engaging this Indonesians is a win-win as we are dealing directly with those ppl who does the work only to end up having a nightmare.

And so we engaged this Indonesian conman contractor which had done 2 houses in the neighbourhood. With these neighbours, workmanship on the outside looks acceptable (i dare not say for things that are covered). So we decided to use him and the rest is history.

For those staying in Johor around Skudai/Gelang Patah area, do inform your friends or neighbours doing renovations to their new homes etc to be careful with Indonesian contractors and workers if they are thinking to use them. I can post all the below-standard works which luckily I discovered when he absconded and others came in to continue. I have got no choice but spend more money to rectify these.

9 out of 10 Indonesians contractors or workers have this same thinking and from my painful experience with them is not use them for your house renovation unless you a contractor yourself. Never deal direct with them.

Dealing with this Indonesian conman is he abscond with your money and you can't do anything about it, he leaves your home in a big mess that you have to rectify and you cannot trace them once they disappeared. He even send spies once in a while to see what is happening at your home. He is not out of your life and there is this safety concern for our family with Indonesians, knowing their bad reputation.

My Chinese contractor and Chinese wireman also give me nightmare. After I moved in for more than 2 months, the rectification works still not done yet. I already wrote them off.

Sad to say, trust them at the begining, paid them as request promptly. The wireman (recommended by him) I suspect already paid more than than the total contract work but without invoice, quotation and receipts.

This is my worst experience I had ever faced in my life, spend money and get shit out of it.

Added on November 30, 2011, 4:27 pmThanks for your concern. Suppose to delivery to me last Monday, but I ask them not to. I checked it at their factory, but sad to say, still got some area not to our satisfaction, so ask them to rectify.

Already 10 days after that, still waiting....

What a poor family...sitting on the floor to watch TV.
