Hi folks,

My condenser was hit by a rock (on the north south highway - driving at ~110 kmh n god knows how). The gas leaked and now the ac not functioning. Took HM today and since it was natural 'disaster', its not covered by warranty. The condenser need to replaced and the quoted me MYR1842...excluding labor and etc. cry.gif Tried welding at a friends place, but due to its thin and fragile material, they failed to stop leakage after trying for 5 hrs

After googling, found out some US stores sells it in range of USD110-150. But am not sure if its ori. Shipping to Malaysia is another USD150. Its still cheap compared to price from HM, but am worried if :
a) Custom duty or etc authority problem
b) Specification diffs with US model since they have heater too and condenser could be different. - (although am novice but I doubt its different if I ask 2010 Insight model part)
c) Online deal overseas
d) Duration to deliver

E.g. http://www.klcpartsinc.com/Condensor-Condenser_30.html

Please advise or provide some suggestions. (Am exhausted after driving in puchong road in a hot day without AC) icon_question.gif

If you can maintain this kinda driving history, 600km per tank is 'kacang'. whistling.gif
[attachmentid=2375168]
Notice that my mileage already 450km @ fuel tank slightly below middle level.

Again, maximize your momentum (but dont crash into others back).

Good!

The IMA or battery can't help must when in heavy jam, you will realize each time the auto stop and restart the engine time then fuel consumption is higher as display deep blue. So when u in federal highway or KL jammmmm to start crawling the engine is stop , start , stop, start, my experiance is FC drop so much from 19km/L to 16km/L. To put the gear to N may be helpfull if the jam is stop , jalan, stop , jalan in short period.

But no doubt also other car will have the same higher oil consumption. My experiance is Manual gear car is better at this situation (but kaki patah for glutch).

If ordering a replacement from US won't work and it is affecting your warranty, you should consider claiming your insurance (own damage claim)
its almost 2k, worth considering if your ncd is still low

From what i m reading, insight parts & maintaining this car is not cheap plus its not easy to maintain. Everytime must go to H SC which will take up time and will cost a bomb.

My current car, the SC will come to pick up the car & deliver after service, H Wergo don't have this policy.

Has any owner service (normal service) this car outside authorised SC?

Does anyone know the theft rate (stolen rate) of the Insight? or is this a cold Honda?

personally, although my current HM SC offers this pickup-fr-my-hse-deliver-back-after-service option FOC, I would not use it... simply because i don't want others driving my car. but that's just me lah smile.gif

QUOTE(lunchtime @ Aug 8 2011, 01:06 PM)
just booked my insight last week (spur of the moment thing, walking pass honda showroom, go in look see look see, end up buy car  blink.gif ), waiting for loan approval, if all goes well, next week will take delivery.

been reading v2, v3, where do i find v1 link?

noticed there are something that must be done upon delivery, aka autolock, PPS, tinting, adjust headlights, buy boot light. Haven't decided on the corba yet, however i will skip on skirting & leather seat. (out of the blue purchase, HM aka FM giving an earful  rclxub.gif )

For tinting, is it okay to tint the black W/S black? Have any owners done black tinting? Thieves can easliy look into the boot and its not practical to pull  / release the tonnec cover everytime. I see MPVs are all black at the back.

For the sound system, thinking of adding tweeters & a bass. Plus doing additional soundproofing to reduce NVH. Has anyone tried KL Auto? How do they charge?

one other thing, i read that only a remote is given, how can that be? is it true?

Sorry 4 ur mishaps. Now im thinking to put a mesh/guard in front, behind the bumper. The opening on the bumper is quite large.
Besides asking the service center personnel, sometimes senior mech do part time job in searching & replacing part. Linger round the service area and slow talk to them. They might have the answer.

It seems expensive coz its new and parts only available from authorized dealer. The number of Insight in Malaysia is getting higher, later more channel of parts will be available at a lower cost.
In fact any other foreign car, name it Toyota, Ford, Peugeot, Mazda, etc or even Kia, also have quite expensive parts price tag from authorize service center.

Its a cool Honda I agree tongue.gif

Test drive and feel both. If u really wanna cheap & easy, trash out car for daily abuse, buy national (Persona is not bad).
Owning City vs Insight, infact Vios/Forte is not that much different in term of cost, but you have a better air conditioning control tongue.gif + reduce CO & CO2 in our atmosphere thumbup.gif

Owning a Honda regardless is a CKD or CBU, the price of parts and maintenance is not that far different. My wife owned a 2007 Honda City. Parts that been replaced before cost a bomb too. Changed a pair of rear bearing cost RM 9++ after discount. 12V Battery cost RM 2++, brake pad front and rear RM 600 to 700, irridium spark plugs RM 6++ and etc.

Did you check how much is a Honda City condenser? It may cost around that price too I'm not sure........so owning a insight CBU or CKD city, civic and so on.....is the same....

I know a person who replaced his nazakia forte front bumber. Cost him RM2K including paint......

maybe i been out of the car market for too long blink.gif i just can't digest how a 1.3cc car will cost similarly to a 2.0/2.4cc car in terms of parts. Are car parts prices among marques similar these days?

how much is a normal service? can i service the insight outside of authorised SC? (in case i m in an area where there is no authorised SC)

i m stumped to learn about the remote. shakehead.gif

one thing is for sure, i don't have the time to google & import parts for the car aka ran_deep.

and could someone tell me how they tint the back w/s glass? can tint black aka MPVs? icon_question.gif

remote - yes, only one remote is given. but you're given 2 pcs keys. if you lose the remote, you can open the door using the 2nd set of keys, then disable the alarm inside by punching in a 4-digit combo (read your manual later when u get the car).

boot lamp / autolock - yes, i would recc you get these done ASAP. for me, it's top priority. along w/tinting of course.

PPS - i hv no regrets getting this. keeps your paintwork nice n new.

sound sys - if you buy component speakers, you'll need to change all 4 door speakers. your component speakers should come w/a set of tweeters, which your AV guy can fit into the front tweeter grill, where yr dash meets the front windscreen.

other items i'd suggest you consider - add a 4-channel amp. will make a lot of diff to yr sound quality. also suggest changing headlights to HID, since HIDs are a perfect fit for our insight projector headlamp.

check my signature below for links to some stuff i did. g'luck!

Just a quick question. boot lamp/auto lock, sound systems, changing speaker, all of these involve the wiring. Won't it void the car warranty if we do it?

it might. then again, would u rather not do anything at all... just because of a fear of voiding specific warranties?

IMHO, small risk to take lah, for much better convenience/comfort. in the end, your decision smile.gif
