could be a case where left hand (SA) do not know what right hand (marketing) is doing? Or vice versa?
What is shown in the Co. website do not really 'guarantee' the item comes along with the car....and happens when Sales & Marketing 'over-advertise' the product?!?  whistling.gif

Definitely got.

The moment i took the car last march, it doesnt wanna move when i shifted to d and release brake. Initially thought the handbrake was on but it really was the creep aid system.

After some mileage, i notice the creep aid system is not as tight as the moment i took the car.

to adapt yourself to the creep aid system, find a slop, press hard on the brake and then release. then press again and release. after few rounds, u will get familiar with the extended braking force before the car moves.

hye, i might getting an insight or prius soon. still under decision. i like insight because of the small CC = less roadtax price and fuel, coz currently i own a 2.0 ltr car, so i need something smaller for commute to my office every day.

I have one question, is the spring and absorber is the same as honda city? do you guys know what available aftermarket sport spring or adjustable for insight in Malaysia currently? because what the first thing i might do is to change the spring or adjustable to fit new bigger rim size. (ya i know bout fc and comfortability when using bigger rim)

I just email Zeus bodykit in japan, and they quote me the price for insight Zeus full bodykit for around rm5k not including shipping and paint cost. for me i think it quite resonable because it is original from Japan and not custom made in Malaysia. for those who are interested, please email this guy yoshi@fujiyama-trading.co.jp

1. Insight Glamarous line 3 pcs set ( Front, Rear and Side )  JY110,000
2. Front sports grille  JY35,000
3. LED day light..      JY5,000

The absorbers & springs similar to jazz/ city albeit slightly different track (different knuckle part number). Other than that, the rear coil uses different spring rate to compensate higher pre-load.

No aftermarket springs for Insight yet. We can use the City's but rear will be slightly sag. Better look for those with hi-lo soft-hard and customize the height n damping accordingly.

Nice bodykits. cool.gif

Never thought of that. So now we're running around free (petrol mileage up to 18K km, service mileage up to 15K km).

I keep hear ppl around me compare insight with prius which I'm feel so unfair..
lets think...
1.3 vs 1.8... different 500cc
99k vs 139k... different 40k
why don't they compare Vios 1.5 vs Civic 2.0? both also different 500cc and 40k? tongue.gif
assume prius 30km/L, insight 20km/L
with 40k different... I can use it for insight petrol and it might achieve (40000/1.90) x 20km = 421052km trip...
*
Only Prius salesmen and Prius hardcore owner would do that.
On the other hand, Prius's 1.8 Atkinson cycle engine only rated 10hp more than our 1.3. Road tax for 1.8 = RM325. Sure match its 'luxury' image. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif
Prius, full (sophisticated) hybrid with extra 2 km/l compared to Insight. rclxms.gif

Rule of thumb, supply vs demand.

Now demand for Insight is so excessive, somebody try to soften the demand by increasing the price. whistling.gif

i love this car....but i'm concerned about the resale value

this is the oldest hybrid technology which means the chances it will be replaced will be high?

if let's say i'm planning to use this car for 5-7 years.....not that i don't like it but there's always room for improvement right, what do you think the second hand cars market response will be?
*
I didnt see the IMA approach as 'oldest'. I think it is more practical, logical, economical. The only thing that they'll replace in near future is battery capacity/material and motor capacity.

Internal combustion engine has been here for 100 years with not much evolution. It still cylinders with pistons. Slotting an electric motor in between engine and gearbox is the easiest and more practical way to boost efficiency. 90% match Toyota's hybrid synergy drive which is more complex.

At the end of the day, if both cars breakdown, honda IMA should be the easier/cheaper system to repair compared to Toyota HSD. Toyota have the honour to come up with complex system as they are leading the market.

To put it simple, we will appreciate Insight even more if the fuel price go up to, say, RM3.00 per liter.
That time, people will ask whether u want to sell ur car to them whistling.gif

Few type of jerk/hesitation happen when:

1. The car starts accelerate using fuel only, then the motor kicks in to assist. Very mild one.
2. The car starting to coast on battery only at speed around 30-50kmh, very light on pedal. Fuel cut and i-vtec close all valve. More noticeable than no 1.
3. The fuel/engine kicks in when battery half empty or we step on the gas to go faster. Slight hesitation can be felt, comparable to no 2.
4. Air conditioning compressor kick on and off. Jerk or lurch. Very mild one.
5. Blip the throttle, the moment we are going for overtaking maneuver but suddenly back off due to whatever reason (oncoming car etc). The electric motor only started to assist when suddenly we back off.
6. Shift to 'S'. Sudden lurch forward especially if we're very early on gas.
7. Anytime at speed 60kmh and below, the engine going from 'fuel only' mode to 'recharging' mode. Very mild.
8. Sudden lurch while braking, happen when the car almost stop (speed below 15kmh or so). The car suddenly 'free'. Felt like pressing clutch on a manual car. More obvious if the engine immediately went into idle-stop.
9. The most noticeable jerk on this car was when the engine going from battery only mode to fuel mode, fuel kicks in simultaneously with aircond compressor. Happened to me once or twice.

Call it '9 type of shift' or even better '9 speed CVT'. For me they were not that bad, fully acceptable. I agree on suggestion swap car to verify the severity just in case some of us got lemon.
A DSG gearbox jerks even worst. Go try Ford Fiesta. U'll know what i mean. doh.gif doh.gif

Honda CRZ with 1.5L IMA Hybrid engine can be tuned to 200 horsy, I guess our Insight 1.3L IMA Hybrid engine probably can tune to 160-180 horsy. Who agree with me? tongue.gif

http://paultan.org/2011/06/09/honda-and-ni...ars-to-le-mans/

Hmmm. But usually increase in output will results in poorer reliability. I'll be satisfied enough if it can go up to 150hp and prefer the tune up more on electric rather than combustion. Enough of these port& polish, high cams, adjustble pulley, extractors so on... doh.gif

However one interesting mod will be Insight facelift to CRZ. I see the CRZ front bumper & fender cut out is not that far from insight. And i bet they were using the same Fit front chasis....

My heart is telling me to go for the White as confirm can get it by this month ... the silver no guarantee ... maybe end of July or August.

Since the white is metallic .. should be ok I guess smile.gif

Actually too much poison from reading this forum ...haha....

*
Its not metallic. Its pearl.

Metallic, paint with metal particles. U can see the particles close-up. It returns lights in direct manners so it looks shining vibrant due to those embedded metal particles.

Pearl, paint with spectrum particles. It returns light in colour spectrum & sometimes depend on angle. Close-up, u can see the multi-coloured layer in the pearl paint, very fine.

Insight comes with 3 pearls (WHite, Black and Blue) while silver is metallic. To me all looks great and have their own strength in emphasizing Insight unique design.

Pick any colour u like the most. Coz at the end of the day, u will always see other colour looks like more beautiful than your own. blink.gif tongue.gif

I think not much differences in fc betwern econ mode n not
*
Bro what is your mileage now?

I notice when econ on
-it soften throttle response, but still go full power when we floor.
-extend idle-stop.
-reduce the blower speed.
-extend the use of IMA battery eg extent coasting with battery only at slow speed.

I think its good to switch econ on or off every other day so that the whole system is used. Also its good to sometimes start driving with L, then S and shift to D when speed increases to make sure all sensors and pressure gauge inside CVT box optimally used.

was upgrading my horns to Hella Supertone set, when i accidentally dropped one screw into the front bonnet. damn jia lat - now cannot find it and remove, since our undercarriage completely sealed.

anyone have any ideas?
*
Make sure it drops down all the way.

If not, u'll have the risk of that screw thrown up into engine components when u going through uneven roads or speedbumps.

Even worst if its thrown toward radiator fan stuck in between fan blade and radiator. It can cut through radiator vents when the fan spin. Ever happened.

Or the screw (metal is it?) thrown and stuck around IMA motor wiring & cabels = short circuit.

You can open the bottom panel by removing 6 screws (metal), 2 plastic screw clip at the rear end and 2 tab clip at the front end. make sure u properly jack-up the car.

I notice that tok initially after bring the car back from Honda but now that sound disappeared dunno how. It's the brake pad/brake assembly. Sound obvious due to the creep aid system release the brake later than normal cars.

QUOTE(infinitium @ Jun 13 2011, 06:42 PM)
Bros, going to share w/you a very "painful" story - of what happened to my HID kit. Basically, my mechanic didn't install the HIDs properly, one HID bulb popped out of the housing. The heat from the bulb was so damn hot, it melted the aluminium projector housing.

I found out halfway driving, when I noticed my left side main beam started flickering, and smoke coming from my engine area (O-o)....

burnt-out housing... 1 day after the light burned out, I could still smell smoke in my cabin area...

there was only 1 thing to do: disasemble the housing. so my mechanic ripped out the left light panel from its socket, and slowly pry open the plastic clear case from the lamp housing (like opening durian)...

u can still see bits & pieces of the HID bulb filament + glass left in there... melted like cheese with the housing....

projector lamp focusing lens... in the background is my IN2 baby on "life support" while we operate on her...

at this point, 99% people would think their housing is f**ked, and have to spend RMXXXX to buy new one. but my mechanic is one smart fella - he manage to replace just the projector lamp housing that melted, with another HID lamp housing (taken from an old Merc). then he basically hot-wire them together....

u can see the right side is the original lamp H11 housing (sawed off the burnt part), then weld in the new HID lamp housing (from old Merc). install a make-shift mounting bracket to hold then both together (piece of metal in the middle). Taadaaa!

After put it back together, ensure all tightly fitted in, and turn on engine - whaddaya know, works like normal. actually, my light now is damn bright... brighter than before (i think it's coz the Merc HID housing is a proper solid steel housing with a proper focusing cup meant for HID lights).

Going to test this out for awhile and see if any problems (so far no issues).

So that's my story for today - heart a bit pain to see my beloved undergone 5-hr "open heart" surgery @ mechanic's "ICU"... but so far, patient 100% recovered  rclxms.gif
*
How is your right lamp? You should carefully observe it and see if there's any symptoms of melting. In a lot of case, the housing itself cant withstand excessive temperature from these aftermarket bulb. Which some are very, very hot. Ask waja owners experience. sweat.gif

Tell us if there right site is doing ok and didnt melt after extended use. We're looking forward for HID too. Thanks for your RnD biggrin.gif
