Yes life need 9cent/min/msg. The advantage is not limit to yes life user only, can call anyone, to any number land(DSL)/ mobile(GSM). For viber call and msg for free to all another viber user only. For land (DSL)/ mobile(GSM) no. are not able temp at the moment. Future viber can call to any no. land(DSL)/ mobile(GSM) with certain call rate like skype credit (no official announcements yet) post by official Team Viber in forum.xda-developers.com. Link below.

Is your iPhone compatible with Viber?
QUOTE
Viber system requirements for your iPhone:
* iPhone Models: 3G (*partially), 3GS and 4.

* iPhone IOS (operating systems): 3.1.3, 4. or newer.
* For top performance we highly recommend iPhones 3GS and 4.
* Other devices: iPod touch and iPad (latest generations)
are partially supported.

* Viber works best on a multi-tasking device.

Yes, it can.
Instructions:

1. connect to WiFi from your iPad/iPod.
2. download and install Viber app. when asked for your number, enter your regular cellphone's number, then confirm.
3. an SMS message with the code will be sent to your regular cellular phone.
4. take that code and use it in your iPad/iPod. Viber will then be activated, and you're good to go.

* this means that if anyone dials your number on Viber, you will get the call on your iPad/iPod.
*
*Note: If the iPad/iPod user already register their phone no. on their iPhone/Android Phone, please use another no. such as Broadband SIM no. that able receive SMS.

Example scenario:

Can I migrate my existing viber account (same phone number) from Ipod touch to a my new Ipad 2 ?
*
I suggest uninstall Viber on the iPod 1st(to prevent opened on two device at same time) then install to ur iPad 2, activate use the same no. and don't forget sync the latest Phone book contact. U still can use Viber on ur iPod but need another no. for the activation, install again and activate with the another no.
Why not on 2 device 1 no. ?
QUOTE
QUOTE(wkkm007 @ Aug 9 2011, 12:22 PM)

Viber has explain to me because this not using ID/e-mail but using international telephone number.
When every 1st time installation need to get the activation code in order to 'create' an account in the viber server and verify the international telephone number are real and belong to u. So, (I guess) the app itself and the server are holding and using same activation code. If activate in another device using same no. , the another activation code generate, therefore the old code will be 'substitute' by new code in the server and result can't use in the 1st device.
Hope this help smile.gif

Yes, wkkm007 explained it right.

We are considering to allow having 1 number for multiple devices, but this feature will not be ready anytime soon.

Somehow, I feel when someone turn on the huddle 4G Mobile Hotspot to connect the net oso will use little data quota. eg 0.1 mb.

this mean Yes life only can use on ytl yes, free public wifi and house wifi(steamyx). If use on pocket/desktop wireless 3G router using(maxis, digi, celcom, umobile sim) then worth lor. eg: huddle 4G Mobile Hotspot battery kong and and want to borrow friend internet using above pocket wireless 3G router using(maxis, digi, celcom, umobile sim) can't lor.

Yes, now I am using it on my iPod touch gen 4 oso no 3G tongue.gif . What u need is a wifi hotspot home/office/public free wifi(er... may be will lag cause slow due to alot ppl using), any mobile phone no. for 1 time activation setup after the installation viber app into ur ipad u will be ask to enter ur mobile phone no.(suggested not using ur primary mobile no.(maybe u oso need/want to use on ur iphone, android...) due to 1 no.(ID) only can use on 1 device)
and finally ur ipad contacts app can copy ur current hp phonebook via sync to 1 of this ms office outlook, gmail acc sync via itune or manually enter 1 by 1 by urself and at last ur contacts person must already install and active the viber (ID) mobile no. using idevice, and android(little due to beta testing) both party must on9 at the same time.

here is the itune app store link:

About the battery drain: are you sure you isolated Viber in order to determine that this is the certain cause for your battery drain? We tested it here in our labs with several devices and except for when making a call (when it is natural for the battery to be used), we didn't notice any significant battery drain.

Anyway - we will certainly investigate the problem and see if there is anything we can do to improve it.

My Viber is on also all the time and it doesn't suck any battery as mentioned by you.

Anyway I hardly use viber because I seldom do voice call and my only comment that it works well with a stable connection. A lot of times the line cracks when you are on 3G and on the move.

Yeah I'm sure it's Viber...
I've been using iPhone for almost a year now.
The day I install Viber the phone heats up in my pocket and battery drains.

I'll try having it again maybe if Viber updated their app...

the 11 digits not only on maxis, other telco also have. 011 0 xxx xxxx are issue by SKMM/MCMC due to the increase of the Malaysian demand on the mobile phone no. Feed back needed by 11 digits user on viber to know does this can or not.

Yes, of course more features are planned in the future. Remember that we are still a young app - we are working around the clock to fix bugs, add new features and support more and more platforms.

Pics/sounds/videos inside messages is already in the works today, and will be released in Viber 2.1

Also, Viber for Blackberry is being developed (still at its early stages) but we don't have release dates yet.

We found this problem with Malaysian numbers a few weeks ago and fixed it. I'm surprised codes still don't arrive.

Please remove Viber, wait 24 hours, and try again.
If it still doesn't work, contact me via Private Message and we'll investigate it further.

Digi sweat.gif surely a hassle with the coverage problem
although I've no problem using Viber on EDGE

but of course for a stable connection when making phone calls
i believe Wifi is better plus it doesn't use up the 1gb digi internet quota biggrin.gif

Indeed, it sounds as if your friend using 3G is causing the line to be disrupted.
Try the call when both sides are using high-speed WiFi connections and check the quality then.

However,
Please note that we recommend our users to actually leave Viber open at all times. If you use Viber relatively frequently, then it's actually not such a good idea to rely on Push Notifications because of 2 main reasons:
1. Push Notifications actually use battery life also, sometimes even more than Viber idling in the background.
2. Relying on Push Notifications can damage Viber's functionality (there are sometimes problems with them due to issues with Apple).

That's why we recommend to leave Viber open, but the decision is yours of course.

We haven't encountered a special problem regarding Viber's volume. We are not sure what you mean.
All volume settings should be controlled using iPhone's settings, and the volumes should be identical to the ones on regular cellular calls/texts.

Have not got a chance to use this Viber. I'm still waiting my GF to purchase 1 iPhone.

Then maybe can try and use this App to the Max.

To Viber Team, keep up the good job and support.

Really appreciate your hardwork.

Good luck for future development.

Viber is located in Cyprus, with representation in the United States also.

1 Viber number can only be assigned to 1 device simultaneously. This means that in order to register Viber on your iPad, you'll need some other number to register with (an old cell number, family's, friend's, home number, etc.)

This way you'll have 2 different numbers for 2 different Viber accounts.

* this means that if anyone dials your number on Viber, you will get the call on your iPad/iPod.

as far as i know, data and voice are separated. But the voice quality is not as good as you imagine. Most of the time you might not be able to hear clearly or the voice on the other end is just too soft to hear. i'm on the RM68 plan

it doesn't make sense that the connection between two party uses data but it will be as low as a few kb so i don't think it will be a problem.

Agree. My friends likes to call me on Viber and sometimes I'm so fedup with the cracking line I just hang up and call back using the conventional way. I think it works best if both party is using a stable home WIFI connection.

Hi. Have used Yes Life (trial period) but not Viber. Good job in the front page to highlight the difference but I think Viber is more similar to Skype. What is the main difference between both (Viber vs Skype)?

How bout comparing with Talkbox as well?

Tnx bro smile.gif Both same just VOIP but using different method that Viber user can skip away troublesome procedure such as the registration using e-mail as ID, remember a password, add friend and approve friend. Your Viber identity is your international telephone number. How do Viber verify that you are indeed the owner of the phone number you typed in registration? Simple. Viber send you an SMS with a code. Then once you enter the right code, Viber give you the identity that's identical to your real phone number.
1st time hear about Talkbox.

@sugen - yes, for your iPad (unless it has its own SIM card), you'll need another number (your home number, for example).

HTC Wildfire and HTC Hero are currently unavailable in Market, and that it is because we encountered severe issues when developing Viber on it.
However, we decided that we will bring it back to Market soon. Meanwhile, you can use this link to manually download the .APK intended for partially-supported devices: http://helpme.viber.com/index.php/Knowledg...-android-market

About 3G networks - they can sometimes be disrupted and not fully handle VoIP calls (some would say - intentionally). This naturally affects Viber and damages its quality, and unfortunately there is nothing much we (Viber) can do about it - it's in the hands of the cellular companies.

In the future we plan to add an option to manually "lower" the quality of Viber calls on 3G calls, thus "sacrificing" on quality in order to still be able to still make calls on low-reception 3G areas.

Anyway, a WiFi-WiFi call on Viber should sound clear and with no interruptions, as long as there are no bottlenecks between the two Viber users (a slow server, slow ISP, etc.)

Just to give my 2 cents..
I've been using viber for months now..
if i'm on a strong wifi & my buddy on weak digi 3G.. the call quality sucks.
if i'm on strong digi 3g & my buddy on maxis 3g the call is good.. no lag/delay
however i'm using the YES trial now & i;ve gotta say its pretty good. reason? because my buddy doesnt have to be on any data plan..
as long as i'm on my own wifi i can call based on 9cent a minute..
good value cuz Digi at my house is very bad (only one line no 3G)

A new version of Viber for Android has just been released: 2.0.1
What's new?

- "Exit" button. Note that shutting Viber off may result in unavailability to receive calls and texts.
- Important features, such as Proximity Sensor, are now enabled by default.
- Viber-contacts identification mechanism was improved.
- Many other bug fixes.

Please find the new version in Market. We'd love to hear your feedback!

Hi, I have a problem having viber to recognise my friend's contacts as a viber contact, although they in fact are using viber.

One thing I observed is that this happened right after I sorted all my contact list to include international number prefixes (i.e. +06, etc). It is right after that my friend's contacts stopped having the viber indicator next to it.

Anyway to fix this rather than having to remove the international number prefixes?

PS: I'm using Iphone 4.

@sugen - we released Viber for iPhone 2.0.4 about a month ago, but major updates are only planned to be released in a few months or so.

@ENTj - recognizing your contacts should work regardless of whether you saved the number with or without the country prefix (that is - if you are talking about people in the same country as you). In other words, you should be able to save a number either like this: 011-XXXX-XXXX or like this: +60-11-XXXX-XXXX

Try this workaround:
Enter Viber and find a person you know has Viber in the "All" contact list. Enter his details, change a digit, save and exit. Then enter his contact again, change the digit back (to the original, correct number), save and exit. Wait about 10 minutes and see if he's recognized as a Viber user now.

If it doesn't work, please try manually dialing the number in its FULL format (including the "+" sign, the country code, area code, etc.)

Hi everyone,

I'm excited to announce that according to preliminary results, it seems as though we managed to find and fix the collision problem of Viber with CM7 and MIUI ROMs (and possible the rest as well)
Both these ROMs "change" the device's identity (virtually, of course), preventing Viber from adapting itself correctly to the device's microphone configuration. This is why most of you with ROMs experienced the one-side audio issue.

Anyway - we are working on adding a fix to the new version that will hopefully be officially released next week to Market.

Updates soon,
Viber.

I really hope there is a customize ringtone function in the future because the current viber ringtone is quite hard to be heard sometimes.

Added on August 7, 2011, 7:47 pmHi all,
Viber 2.0.2 has just been released to Market!

What's new?
- Viber is back on Market for HTC Wildfire and HTC Hero users. However, note that due to immanent compatibility problems, Viber might not work 100% smoothly. We're working hard to improve these problems.
- After hard work, as promised, Viber now supports *some* of the famous custom Android ROMs, such as CM7 and MIUI. We need your feedback in order to make sure the major problems with these ROMs are now resolved.

Please make sure you download the latest version.
As usual - for questions/technical issues feel free to contact me.

Regards,
Viber.

I supposed you can do that, as long as you use the same phone number to request a activation code, then use that particular code to activate the Viber app in your new device.

@Viber.
What is the reason Viber limit to 1 phone number, 1 device policy ?
Why not single email address but multiple devices ? example Facetime and Skype ?

Yes, they have many questions because Viber on Android is still young (officially released only a few weeks ago). But we're listening to their suggestions and trying to improve as we go along.

@sugen - we are still not exactly sure just how we will implement Viber online on 2 simultaneous devices. It's still in discussion.

Skype is sticky to me because my skype contacts can reach me with just one single account regardless of which device I'm connected to, be it PC, laptop, Ipad, Ipod. hope Viber can do the same too with single account ID but multiple devices.

@Angelodeath -
3G networks can sometimes be disrupted and not fully handle VoIP calls (some would say - intentionally).

Anyway, a WiFi-WiFi call on Viber should sound clear and with no interruptions.

@wengjoe -
There shouldn't be any reason for ALL calls to be disconnected after 10 minutes. In order to check this, please try to make a WiFi-WiFi call to a friend the same country as you. Does it get cut after 10 minutes now?

Hi all,

We're running a quick survey among our users (in Viber-dedicated threads only).

We'd like to hear your opinion: What is Viber missing the most? If you could choose the most important feature that you'd like to see in our next big version - Viber 2.1 - that's coming up soon, what would it be?

Yep,
Viber works on iPods/iPads. You need to receive the SMS with our code when you first register, and then WiFi is enough to use it and call/text other Viber contacts.

Here are the instructions:

1. connect to WiFi from your iPad/iPod.
2. download and install Viber app. when asked for your number, enter your regular cellphone's number, then confirm.
3. an SMS message with the code will be sent to your regular cellular phone.
4. take that code and use it in your iPad/iPod. Viber will then be activated, and you're good to go.

* this means that if anyone dials your number on Viber, you will get the call on your iPad/iPod.

Reinstall app also need the code.

I've been using viber, but I'm confuse because the call quality differs.

I'm using WIFI with 4mb Streamyx while my fiancee using WIFI with 1mb Streamyx. The call quality sux almost all the time.

Sometime I'm using 3G on Maxis, my fiancee using WIFI the call quality is better.

This is even weirder as 3G speed not stable compared to my WIFI.

Is there any sure way to increase the call quality?

http://www.yes.my/v2/say-yes/huddle-4g-mobile-hotspot.do

As I say maxis, celcom and digi also can, but will use the data quota, FOC Wifi ok la

If use huddle-4g-mobile-hotspot YES as ISP then just like using a mobile phone via(data plan not gsm call) just need to carry 2 device iPod and huddle-4g-mobile-hotspot.
huddle-4g-mobile-hotspot is a pocket router like the maxis, celcom, umobile and digi MIFI router just this huddle-4g-mobile-hotspot but it can't insert sim card because inside the router not using 3g but it using WIMAX. Main disadvantage are huddle-4g-mobile-hotspot are can't change to other ISP, unlock Mifi router can change to any ISP smile.gif

Hi everyone,
We plan to release Viber in Malay soon
We would appreciate your help with adding missing translated lines, and confirming the existing translations previously added by users: http://translate.viber.com

If you could get more Malaysian Viber users to help with this, we would highly appreciate it.
