Guys...need help here. I jus got mine yesterday afternoon, from LYN seller of course.

Here's what I've done:

When i plug in the wireless adapter, the blue indicator on the headset and the adapter lights up, and i can hear some signal tone when fiddling with the switches...but there is no game sound on the headset even though the game is already in progress and also no headset icon on the TV screen. Already adjusted the accessory settings on the PS3 but still nothing. There's also an option to poke the small hole in the wireless adapter and the headset to reset the whole thing, and I've also done that...still no dice.

Then I read in the manual that this headset is compatible with PS3 system software version 3.70. Checked my PS3's, its version is 3.50. D'oh doh.gif Do i need to update my system software to version 3.70 to enjoy the headset?

Gosh...never thought things could get so complicated... rclxub.gif

What is so complicated about updating your PS3 FW? If you dont have internet at home, you can download it first to your USB thumbdrive and just plug it in to your PS3.

noruazumi: Well bro, since I'm just the normal average Joe I'm always been, I've swallowed the whole 'plug n play' part of all the reviews I read online. So I've done the exact same thing and then *poof*, not that simple...need to update the software 1st tongue.gif .

Yeah bro, the updating steps are just straight-forward la.

Hey guys, since I'm beginning to do something that involving updates, online, etc., with my PS3, can any of you point to me the right thread to take my PS3 gaming to the next level, i.e. online gaming? Owning a PS3 for a year and a half but dun bother squat about online gaming until now.

Dun wan to ruin this thread la with non-related questions biggrin.gif

You can start by setting the DMZ.

Alternatively, you can go to Playstation FAQ thread.

I've been testing the Sony official wireless headset for a good week now and I can say that it does fall short in comparison to the Turtle Beach PX21 (direct competitor as they are priced similarly).

Problem with the Sony official wireless headset is that it lacks bass controls.
Not being able to adjust the bass is quite an annoyance for me as in some games it'll be either too high or too low in others.

The build quality of the mic is also rather questionable, really cheap piece of plastic that looks as though it could break with ease.
And since on the mic topic, while chat quality is solid, there is no mic-monitoring in the headset as there is on the PX21.

This means it sometimes feel like I'm talking in a confined room and it's hard to determine whether sometimes I'm talking too loud or soft.
Further annoyance comes when the game audio is too loud, you will have difficulities hearing what your friends are saying on the other end.
The PX21 on the other hand has a variable chat boost feature that will automatically scale the chat volume up or down depending on the in-game volume.

The virtual 7.1 surround sound is a great addition for games, something the PX21 can only achieve if you buy the Turtle Beach DSP processor which would then cost nearly twice as much as the Sony headset by then.
Sure the virtual 7.1 isn't going to replace proper home theater setups, but it does hold on its own.
Being able to determine where your enemies are really does give you an edge, especially in FPS multiplayer games.

However, the virtual 7.1 surround sound does not work for movies and again... this is a rather missed opportunity for Sony.
Hopefully there will be a firmware that'll allow 7.1 surround sound to be used for movies in the future.

If I would have to choose between the Sony wireless headset and the Turtle Beach PX21,
I'd still go with the PX21 simply due to it having bass controls and mic-monitoring/variable chat boost.

Of course if you really can't deal with wires, for RM300 the Sony wireless headset is about the best you can get from a wireless headset at this price however.

No problem guys. smile.gif

Though one thing I forgot to mention about is the battery life, lasts about 6 hours and a half on a full charge and I had the volume at 70-85% most of the time.

Ok, I've already installed version 3.72 on my PS3 and yes, like all the reviews, it is indeed plug and play. I'm not a professional audiophile or anything but from my opinion, it worth the RM300. Hope other guys can enjoy it soon thumbup.gif
