Wah.. I just found out that the Omnibus is around USD 300 for Vol.1...
To me, this is too much...  sweat.gif
Will wait for the re-print, and hope they will release at USD 99 later...
In the mean time, will get the Essential 1st...
*
like i mentioned if money no problem

BTW for a book especially HC and collected editions the following is always true

1. 1st printing is almost always the most valuable
2. If there is a soft cover and hardcover version, the HC will always be more valuable
3. All the above hold true if we do not count in signatures and recalls from abnormalities (i.e. Marvel adverts appearing in DC Comics, a la LOEOG)

Actually, there is no more value in comics nowadays unless you are holding vintages before 1950s. In fact, so called limited/special edition are no longer sought after.
*
i do disagree, there is a HC collection that is not from the 1950s that is still very in demand due to limited prints. Miracleman

a value of the book actually depends on the print run and how many of them have survived with good to near mint conditions

even in the 60s 70s and 80s there are tons of books that are very well sought after, most notably the indy publishers

like vampi, elf quest, cerebus etc.

My Big Bad Wolf 2013 haul, from last Thursday's preview sale

user posted image

BBW is always a good opportunity to catch up on my Marvel reading, since most of my comic book budget goes towards DC and Valiant monthlies.

Why would you say it is "so called" bro? BookXCess isn't a fly by night operation and has been at AmCorp Mall for a long time.
*
not really so much for comics and GN thats why so called, they are known more for other types of books

there is actually very rare book in DCs The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Volume 1, #5

Action Comics #869, All Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder #10 and Elseworlds 80-Page Giant

for Marvel we have

Universe X Spidey #1 and Wolverine #131

due to recalls and destruction of the inital print run

IMO it's painful seeing the way the children there are abusing the graphic novels.

While it's cool to see kids are interested in reading comics, but they way they treat the books... gah! And worse, they were obviously dumped there by their parents, who had no intention of buying any of the books for their kids anyway.

And there was an obnoxious aunty when I was there who hogged the entire table and insisted the BBW support staff search for the best condition copies for her kid.

Like WTF??

At least I managed to score 90% of what I had on my checklist in these two visits to the sale. smile.gif

damn u went there twice, respek.

yeah bloody kids nowadyas gotno respect for books. they just toss em around like rubbish

hi guys,

I decided to sell off my Sandman collection today (1st print issues #1 to 22 - 1988 onwards), so if any of you guys are interested in buying a piece of comic history then do have a look at this thread. It's for a good cause (to help a friend).

Not a fan of Deadpool.. think will just skip this.

Btw, Just found out Marvel has gottan Star Wars comics rights!! Does it means that Dark Horse will stop producing Star Wars comics??
*
You should have seen this one coming since Disney tau pau the entire George Lucas company a while back.

BTW Marvel did produce Star Wars books back in the day.

and Issue one (not the reprint) is currently the most expensive Star Wars comic book when it was released back in 1977

Trivia: Those days the book did not put first or reprint in the fine print section. I think the diff between the ori and reprint for the 1st issue is the colouring in one of the wordings or something like that

CC nowadays dominated by CCGs etc.

back in my day, CCGs all secondary as everything concentrating on comics, comics and more comics.

sigh good ol times, miss ted the times when a shipment comes in and we waited anxiously for them to sort the books into the boxes and after when Alex says go for it, we take turns picking up our pull list.

TPB usually no bags as they come in different shapes and sizes and thickness. But thinner ones you can use the original Mylar bags as these bags can support up to 1/2 inch in thickness
