so it might be fake? even with hongkong nikon warranty card? only the shutter n el button work, both dailer didnt have any response, and the battery info either not showing in the menu..
*
obviously no one can tell without seeing it.
so first i would bring it to a shop that has nikon malaysia stock and compare construction.

cause i usually just shoot raws. sad.gif
*
why not shoot raw + jpg?
definitely will be easier to transfer and view jpg.
that way almost anything with usb connection also can, tho for ipad u will need to buy seperate connector for around rm80.

IIRC D300 and up only can meter a non cpu lens, tried my friend samyang 85mm F1.4 non AE version last time and there's no metering on my D90 laugh.gif
*

Is the review of 80-200 or 70-200 good??
*
good enough la unless u pixel peep.
only reason to bring 70-200 is to gain that extra couple stops of shutter / iso, since 80-200 you're going to be stuck at 1/200 or 1/300 min.

1) The kid moves. She found me taking picture and stare at me, and when she's at between the flowers, i snapped right way.

2) 2nd image, the mother is moving away from me, maybe its my technique not so accomplish yet.

I'm pretty new to photography, i believe my hand kind of move, or maybe my technique not so accomplish, i find it hard sometimes to get sharp picture on the move, maybe because im used to the kit lens VR and now without VR its kind of hard to get crystal sharp image in those uncontrol environment.

Or maybe because 1st time going street to take picture, it could be either:

1) i focus in haste and hence i point at the wrong place.
2) im in Aperture mode, and put it f/1.8 the whole session. Then only i learned, in street, to tell the story, i cant always blur.

In a control environment, crystal clear, nothing to complaint.

I actually enjoy this lens better than the kit lens. hehe

Sifu please correct me and teach me.
*
what cam u using?
use AF-C mode if it has.

when i tried di622 mk2, i never had any exposure issues.
only thing that bugged me was its AF assist light was out of position and not hitting the center AF, plus it's weak...so even if it hit the center wont make much difference tongue.gif

well, i had a sb600 whose AF assist light didnt exactly hit center either...but was close enough to center so the dslr could still focus in low light.

btw, i compared 80-200 AF-D and 70-200 VR1.
VR1 performance at 200mm wide open is dissapointing, the AF-D is sharper.
other focal lengths no need to say la, color also better for VR1.
guess thats why VR2 was invented to satisfy wide open at 200mm tongue.gif

VR1 not sharp at 200mm wide open? o_O...

I don't have much experience with 70200 VR, but was told performance is quite similar?
*
different.
i was surprised also, then i go google.
quite a few hits with similar results, even couple of reviews say same thing.
in general, it says from 70-135mm, VR1 is good.
135-200mm, its soft.

but of cos that's if u pixel peep la...sharpness is still decent enough...

later i cheapskate and go buy 70-200 VR 1 no good  sad.gif

70-200 vr1 on left, 80-200 af-d on right, all 100% crops.
all at 105mm, very little difference with vr1 slightly better and also of cos color wise, shot about 30m away.

Attached Image Attached Image

at 200mm, the difference gets obvious, shot from about 80m.

2 more shots la of the same 105mm signboard at 30m, but at 200mm this time, just to rule out focusing error at infinity.

VR1 on left.

What shutter speed were u taking at?

the exif data is all intact, but most of them between 1/2500 and 1/4000.
yea, color abit washed out.

i guess best of both worlds is the VR2...zzz...money...

Thanks for the photo with your gear. Gives a good reference for size.  rclxms.gif
You tested on DX or FX body?

VR1 or VR2 version only affects FX body. On DX, they look the same.
VR1 performance is horrible wide open at 200mm. This is only on FX body.
Do you have the originals? Were both shot in RAW or JPG? Same exposure? VR switched on or off? On tripod?

From the first comparison pics, it does not seem that they were taken around the same time. The one taken with VR1 lens (left) has shadows while the one taken with the AF-D lens is overcast.
The one on the left exhibited some camera shake.  smile.gif So therefore the one on the right (AF-D) is sharper.  rclxub.gif
*
all on DX, D7000.
VR of cos off.
taken about 10mins apart.
camera shake at 1/2500...uh huh...while AF-D was at 1/1600...
anyway, i reshot a few times...same results.
