paid deposit $1k 2 weeks ago to kian classic

reason is they quote me only $7k for island kitchen plus kitchen (dry & wet) ..solid surface.. they also went to my house n measure

to cut long story short.. they send me quotation n it was $18k..of course im furious... at 1st said $7k everything ..tat y we are attract to it and agree paid $1k deposit
they said must paid $1k as deposit for the drawing...

this sat morning im going talk to them and ask what happen...

anyone can share how can i solve this issue?

the 1st 7K quotation is verbal or official quote?

I think the grand total was wrongly calculated:
RM3830+RM3560= RM7390 not 18k

7k verbally.. i find it strange as i keep contact her for many week...she did not give me the quotation....only today i got quotation...

can advice since i already paid $1k deposit...

it come with 3 free wardrobe and there is no cost...

they come out with package where kitchen+3 wardrobe...

if is verbal and no official quote, like this u need to argue with them and see who win.

But is better to discuss and understand more further details over the cost and specs and job they going to do.

Just ask other vendor and quote and compare, if is about the same then you got no choice.

7K for all the items you wrote. Is too cheap to be real. Maybe is 7K for the island and accessories only.

that time, she told me $7k for island + kitchen... that y im so interested....some more for solid surface...haha... i plan to cook at my island instead normal kitchen that near window..

thinking of it..i think those add on accessories is the cause of her quotation..and it is super expensive...wonder if i buy ikea accessories and attach to their kitchen..not sure can or not... anyway..going talk to her this sat..see how it goes..

they will tell u some stories den say 7k is for this n that only. THen u need to add this n that, that is why it is now RM 18k. Quite a common practice, contractors also say they can do this n that for RM 20k while others quoted RM 40k. Then u pay deposit and engage the contractor, you just fell into his trap.

Like what Serofax said "certain things you just cant run away, eg materials." The cost of doin all those stuff would b more than RM 7k, nobody would wanna do biz at a loss. For me, if the deal is too good to be true, i rather walk away than to listen to them and fall into their traps.

Similarly, when u r buying hood and hob, ppl quote u RM 1k, you ask for cheaper, they say ok RM 950 (they remove the hose) den u ask "can give cheaper or not", they say ok RM 900(now they remove the hose & cap).

Solid surface is not good for cooking especially putting the stove there.

solid surface is cheaper than granite for kian classic shop only

but if u go other kitchen cabinet shop (most of them), they say granite is cheaper than solid surface...so of course i take solid surface....as get gold for the cost of silver..kaka..

Solid surface is generally more expensive than granite. However, if you are talking about 1 long piece of granite for a big kitchen, that will be more expensive.

eh hob & hood got hose and cap one meh ? is this need to do darting one ? not the charcoal recycle one ?

u sure u r comparing apple to apple?? generally granite should be more expensive... u need to check if u r comparing local product vs imported or same....

I can comfirm granite is more expensive. But dun compare with imported solid surface lah (corian,LG,samsung)

TS can u pls put in the size of the kitchen cabinet when u ask for quotation for the first time. I try to calculate first then let u know what's happening! Inn details like width, height, acc if any.

There are two types, recycle hood and duct hood. If u r using recycle, you need charcoal filter only, hose & cap not required. The best is to have a duct hood.

they give me LG ...if not mistaken..10 years warranty (cant remember how many years)

but if both also local product, i'm sure granite will be the more expensive item

The RM18k is for 3 wardrobes + you kitchen (extras) + Island. I find this package is really a gimmick most of the time. At the homedec recently, I looked at a kitchen offer, sounded very cheap. But their package can nver be exactly what u need, so when u ask them to quote you, that's when they take out the big parang to ketuk u.

Anyway, just have to be very careful and specific when u get a quote, get your specs black & white, right down to the hinges, etc.

For Spray paint glass/3G glass/chamfred glass whatever is glass lahhhh all same just different company use different name.

totally zero cost for 3 wardrobe and tv cabinet ... that y don need to put...

one thing i don understand is in the quotation she put as below. what she mean by using melamine ABS as per drawing. i know solid surface is the top layer of the table. initial it is zero cost if i use local solid surface. then i ask if other brand like LG, she say can ... say some few dollar per feet (cant remember the terms)...so thought few dollar only ah...then i told her to include..tat time she didnt tell me the total cost if i change to LG solid surface..now that is the hidden part they wont release..

melamine ABS is refering to chipboard with ABS edging .....
solid surface KC, i guess KC = Kian Classics which is house brand ...... high posibilities is locally or aheem Cxxxx made

as for the price is too shorts to tells ..... normally is calculated in pfr = per foot run ......

beware of kian classic. i think for wardrobe this will not give the board/abs inside the wardrobe...

Then you refer back to your drawing, for kitchen, i think you may ask some extra thing from the package, so they charge some fees on kitchen, and also island is not include in package, so they charge the entier island by melamine ABS..

If you dono, just walk-in to any KC shop or go IKEA to take a look all kitchen cabinet, they build by melamine, ABS is a plastic ending

oh..u mean the front cover of the cupboard

meaning they really dishonest..during the sales...they told us is cover in the package..the melamine and solid surface..

melamine board = Particle board, a type of engineered wood known as "chipboard" in some countries


honest or dishonest cannot comments much only u hear what they told u ...... so go or no go u decide, we're here only try to solve ur doubts only ...... not much can help either ......

hi.. went there last sat.. to cut long story short..i didnt take their so-call package as not worth it..

so my kitchen from 18k become 9k.. even is more 2k but nvm..as my island has increase in width .i wan bigger island since im cooking there...

now headache is where i can get quality island hood with 5 year motor warranty and below $2k

chipboard is cheaper than normal plywood...

im using melamine and solid surface for my kitchen

Dear Vincent, this is melamine ABS. somebody said chipboard also.
nowadays many contractor prefer to use this material, but it's very less colour to choose...
if not mistaken i think is 50++ colour to choose only.

By the way, i think it's impossible for the kitchen cabinet only cost RM7k.
i think even you argue also useless, coz you already paid for RM1k.
next time dont give deposit bfore official quotation.

yes it is possible. in the end, i got the same size of kitchen i wanted for $9k.
it will be impossible if i go other kitchen shop like signature kitchen or even IKEA..haha.

well, so far im happy with Kian Classic.. will know how quality once my kitchen install by them...time will tell..

Yeah you get it in rm9k means more than rm2k firstly they offer to you.

eh..cant blame them....as i wan bigger island than my initial design
and those canggih accessories.... so extra $2k...kinda worth it,...as we don always change kitchen like change car..haha..
