Thanks leeyung I left my marimo at my balcony but there were times i left it quite exposed, thinking it needs more sunlight to photosynthesize.. guess i really did it wrong here i hope its not too late to rectify...thanks for pointing out to me the FAQ, went to read thoroughly again. Now have left them in fridge with water full-tank and an estimated amount of salt. Will check on them tomorrow again i'm going to bring them to office next week so that its cooler. Hope they can better thrive there.
It takes time for marimo to recover Remember, as stated in the FAQ, Do not expose your marimo with direct sun light and this will kill your marimo
I bought the air stone and a new air pump, with a 5 ft pipe.. It's rm9.80.
Plants do their photosinthesis at day or night? I am to on the pump day or night?
Let's start our science class, photosynthesis required 2 elements which are the carbon dioxide (CO2) and photon from light source. Without these, photosynthesis cant be done for food production. During the photosynthesis, oxygen is produced as the waste of the process.
rm60 at lee yung's kedai get 2 giants liao lor~~ But i like the bonsai arrangement. And i also have a hunch marimo will be xpensive there.. She only sell 2? No stock meh? Maybe Lee Yung can be her supplier. ^^ Rm60 can go eat Japanese steamboat-all you can eat.
So expensive ar... I also want to sell that price d then
haha really quite dark, hahahaha, kindly refer to the explanation below
no worries, this is a very normal condition. There are three common growth forms of marimo, the lake ball proper, "free-floating filaments" and epilithic as below. By nature my selling marimo is in lake ball form, some members will get their marimo slowly turns into epilithic or in our lowyat forum fans club, we named it as Carpet marimo, this is mainly due to the way owner taking care of their marimo. If the water flow/freshness of the marimo keeps good, the marimo should remain in lake ball form without transform to carpet.
hi, I have a question here is that: my room temperature is extreme, during day time (without air cond when i am not around) is around 32-33c and at night (with air cond) is around 25-27c. is that ok for the marimo ? I am putting it in a tank with water filter and also a air pump with 'air bubble' or it's better that i put it in a place that temperature is constant ?
You will get your answer over FAQ Your tank setup no problem at all for ur marimo
Just received the giant today, and it floats!!! hahahaaa
Added on August 12, 2011, 12:18 pm the tetra neon fish tank looks empty coz i have taken out the fake plant. Why? one of my fish committed suicide between the roots.
Nice setup for office one RM20-25 tank rite that one? hehe u put ur giant inside better than put fake plant ma
@leeyung Can i place my marimo inside the fridge everyday??.. .then take out for photosynthesis. ..then put it back inside the fridge?. ..my fridge is about 10c--++......because water temp at my place is about 30c++-- in a fish tank with filter circulation and aeration.. ..although FAQ state that marimo can last until 35c but most probably marimo will turn yellowish lor..... .....
10 Degree Celsius is too low, definitely u will kill your marimo one day when they cant sustain over there. FAQ stated 35c because that FAQ I am the one who provides the info over there. My tank setup is this temperature, kindly refer to the video I post after this, I pointed the temperature of the tank too (although not really clear but still can see it is 33-35 degree Celsius) I am keeping my own marimo for several years d for such setup, never turn to yellow so u can drop all doubts and worry and go ahead

P/S: btw you can see there is 1 marimo slightly yellow, that is one of my successfully recovered marimo from Salt fridge spa before this whole yellow, now turns half to green

Have make the filter higher and setting it to low. So works like waterfall. Have put in some moss. Look nice from afar and really weird if closer look.
