IMO Fergie chose the lesser of 2 evils either lose with the veterans (Scholes, Giggs & Sung) or lose badly with the young uns (Welbeck, Ashley, Valencia, Chica) because of the 6-1 demolition derby.

Scholes, Park & Giggs on one hand have been lauded and worshipped by the likes of MU fans here & ironically are now panned for their selection & performances at Etihad.
Which is which?
Watch & Listen to What You Say!

For the MU fans to question the Master's choice or selection? No matter what IMO MU midfield were completely outclassed by City's. Give credit to Yaya & especially Barry (City's metronomic midfielder).

Now you can imagine why Ginger p*p was taken off by his Master because he was trying to 'nuzzle' up to the collossal Yaya (who incidentally owned him like a b...h ) and at one point was alledgedly doing a 'can't tackle with sleight of handball' to stop a City attack @ 10 min mark.

Now for a bonus to this post MU & Fergie dodged a bullet here for those MU fans clamoring for midfield reinforcement or buy.

Remember Adem Ljajić a vSerbian footballer who plays as an attacking or right-sided midfielder for Serie A club Fiorentina. He was set to join England's Manchester United from Partizan in January 2010.

Just imagine if Adam was subbed at the Derby, we can guarantee that Fergie not only would have land the haymakers but would have given him the boot (ala Beckham) too. wink.gif

The future of England. lol.

For me, the best part in that game was when the crowd sang the na na na city song. Can't imagine the feeling of the fans, who live under the shadow of their "diving" neighbors for too long ady. But still, the game with Newcastle scares me a lot considering City didn't do that good in the last few away matches and Newcastle latest win yesterday really show how bad they want the CL spot.

So after a 1-0 drubbing by City followed on the heels of a 6-1 demolition derby @ OT, MU & the red propaganda machine (and the English media) 'NEED' to trot out the 'wonder goal'. To appease & distract the red masses wink.gif or to complement his unblemished disciplinary record on the eve of the Euros? Is he an untouchable (given his swearing against referees) just like Scholes was for his 'tackles'? You tell me.

IMHO its very disingenuous to give too much credit to Rooney's wonder goal especially against City. Why? Rooney's goal against City was just LUCKY . His goal was assisted by Zabaleta (deflected off Zab right shoulder) giving Rooney more time to execute it. It was not a pure strike because Rooney SHINNED it.
In judging WC competition (whether gymnastics etc) the finesse, execution & delivery is also important. Merited points are given and luck needs to be discounted. So I'll say Rooney's performance was 9.

Now on the other hand Bergkamps goal is different. Thats a 10. He created it i.e he fashioned and assisted on it. He is the genuine mastercraftsman the Dutch Genius. That is give credit where credit is due.

Dzeko's back header goal (9.5) at White Hart Lane would be a better choice than Rooney's for 2nd place. whistling.gif

To be a football cognoscenti not only do you need to be a fan with the football nous it would helped if you have played the game at a high level i.e. with skills etc.

To wit Cisse's brace - Wonder Goals. Unfortunately the goals were against the other Blues.
First one was classic. The second one was judicious.

In golf parlance it was a shape shot - a calculated FADE, not a novice Slice. As some football muppets deemed otherwise as lucky.

To me Cisse, if he was an Englishman, he would be the white Pele. He has the complete tools. An arsenal and repertoire of skills to modulate the strikes.

To recap the book I read 'Moneyball' by Michael Lewis a while back.
Newcastle is the real thing with the money they parlayed from the sale of Caroll to buy Cabaye, Ba, Cisse, Tiote and Marveaux. Its no coincidence they took 4 points from MU.

This Sunday match against them will be DELIGHT (jogo bonito the well worn cliche) to watch for footies. No parking the bus wink.gif

I hope Mancini will still go for the same starting lineup with Micah & Mario (instead of Tevez).

We just hope Super Agent Webb will not tilt the balance.

May the best team win.

It's still not done, we still have a tough match next week at home against relegated prone QPR.

Newcastle did well in the first half, and with a little tactical change in the 2nd half we managed to score and win.
