if scholes doesn't sign an extension then our youngsters will certain have to step up and fill the void. bebe and obertan need to be loaned out. they need to play more at top level football. cleverly, macheda and welbeck benefited from their loan spells.

Plus both Cleverley & Welbeck proven that they can play at this level which will be a good thing for us next season

Nev behind new supporters' club

Former United captain Gary Neville has confirmed he will put some of the proceeds from next week’s testimonial game towards the creation of a Supporters’ Club and hotel across the road from the stadium.

Located just off Sir Matt Busby Way and adjacent to the Manchester Ship Canal, the exciting new development will be able to accommodate up to 1,500 fans on matchday and is a vision Neville has had for some time.

“I always thought that if I was ever lucky enough to have a testimonial I wanted to create something special for the fans,” explained Gary.

“That something for me was a Supporters Club, a place where the fans could meet and share their love and passion for Manchester United. A place for the fans to call their own, to congregate and meet with like minded people. A place to talk and breathe all things football."

"The fans have supported me throughout my career and hold a special place for me, so this is my way of showing my appreciation for all those years of support. I thought long and hard about what I would want from a supporters club and this project really excites me, it epitomises the essence of being a fan.”

Neville hopes the Supporters’ Club will be open for business at the start of the 2013/14 season and while this remains a private venture for the Reds' legend, the club have given him their full

The "ticker'' had reached 35 prior to City's 1-0 FA Cup final win over Stoke at Wembley but there had been some confusion about whether it would remain, even after the Blues' weekend triumph.

It had been suggested it would be wound on to 43 to mark the last time City won the league title, or even stay at 35 as the Eastlands outfit had "bought'' their trophy.

That always seemed a far-fetched notion and there are plenty at Old Trafford who felt the banner should simply be "retired''.

And the banner has now been taken down, although it is not known what replacement will be in place prior to Sunday's final Premier League game against Blackpool.

Manchester United have identified their new goalkeeper for next season - but fans might be hoping it is not rumoured target Maarten Stekelenburg after the Ajax stopper literally dropped a clanger on Sunday.

Stekelenburg is one of three goalkeepers heavily linked with Old Trafford, along with Spanish favourite David De Gea and Germany's Manuel Neuer.

But as this video shows, his handling leaves a lot to be desired.

Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has admitted he would "insane" to turn down an approach from Manchester United, but insists the only offer currently on the table is a contract extension from his current club.

With United's veteran 'keeper Edwin van der Sar due to retire at the end of the season, the man who replaced him in the Dutch national team has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Stekelenburg celebrated winning the Dutch Eredivisie title with Ajax on Sunday and although he said he was happy at the Amsterdam ArenA, the 28-year-old admitted he would like to hear from United.

"I have received a fantastic offer from Ajax which is under consideration," Stekelenburg told NUsport magazine. "There has been nothing else, zero. Maybe because I have been injured."

But he added: "Anybody who does not want to play for Manchester United would be insane."

Stekelenburg has one year left to run on his contract at Ajax, but says he is in no rush to finalise his future as he waits to see if other offers materialise.

"I wanted to see how things develop," he said. "Nothing has happened, so I will talk with Ajax. I have had a fantastic time here and I have great respect for the board.

"I have always been treated very well. They have made a fantastic offer, and a second meeting is scheduled. But it has to do with whether anything else might come my way."
