Nope. Working fine for me. Maybe u can try clearing whatsapp's cache via settings/applications or even uninstall-reinstall the app.

Market, Gtalk, Gmail (for contact sync), Maps and etc?

You need to download the Gapps package.

Anyone knows how to use the FM Radio from CM7 Nightly ROM (based on MIUI's rom's radio?)?

It always enable my BT and I can't hear anything from earphones/speaker. Do I have to always listen to radio from BT headset only?
*
I don't think FM radio really works in CM7 yet.

It's funny how they included the FM Radio app into the ROM, if it's not working. And the about says it's MIUI's app.  doh.gif

I believe there is no free and non-root full backup utility for Android at the present moment. Titanium Backup (needs root & paid license for full functionality) has been a real lifesaver for me countless times. More than worth its weight in gold, so to speak.

I thought there is a free version called My Backup. Paid version is My Backup Pro.

Isn't that a 30 day trial version and not technically a 'forever free' version? Anyway, I've always trusted Titanium Backup Pro, on my Tab and my SGS smile.gif

bro, how to back-up efs using titanium backup?
or i can just copy the efs folder to the xternal sd?
*
Err, I use Titanium to backup apps (apk+data). For EFS, currently am using Root Explorer (paid app, bloody useful!) to copy the /efs folder to my sdcard (and then another copy over to my PC via mass storage mode). You can only access the EFS folder if your phone is rooted.

I am not sure how to backup the EFS using Titanium Backup, sorry.

oh ok. yeah maybe i just misunderstood.
so we can just copy n paste the /efs right?
i did that, but the folder content is empty..or is it hidden?
i only use the free version of root explorer-equilvalent-app, so not quite sure whether the /efs is really copied or not  wink.gif
*
Ha, can just copy and paste, as long as your phone is rooted and your file manager app has root support. Otherwise cannot, I think. Should have a number of files and folders inside the /efs folder.

im trying ES..the /efs is empty,non readable..
erm when i check with superuser, only lists titanium & ROM manager, meaning the ES is not root enabled?
how do i enable root support on it?
*
Not sure if ES File Explorer has root features. Normally when an app has or needs root features, when you launch the app, SuperUser will prompt you to allow or disallow root access. My guess is ES doesn't have root functionality.

You may want to give SGS Tools a try..

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1588025#r16

Copy the EFS foldering using Root Explorer or use SGS Tools or SGS toolbox and go to "apply scripts" and choose the backup efs.

Our resident guru had also mentioned SGS Tools way back in thread v14.

An easier way to backup is to use sgs tool for one click efs folder backup. The app will store the backed up /efs folder inside sgstools folder in your internal sdcard.

And the same info is on the first page of this thread, again by our resident guru.. smile.gif

Watched it at TGV (Penang). Not a bad movie, this 4th instalment of the Pirate saga. Not great though, IMHO. Peeps, don't waste money watching it in 3D - about the only thing really 3D about the movie are the subtitles and the credits..

Hmm, the latest CM7 zip seems to have trouble installing over existing CM7 installation unless you go back to stock Froyo or EZBase 2.0 first. Should I wait or should I revert to stock and install, decisions decisions.. sweat.gif

Thank you.  But I notice a problem with this 2 button configurations to take screen shots.  When i press the back arrow button the app will throw me back to the previous page and therefore resulting in the screen capturing the wrong page.

Is there a way to configure the buttons?
*
Not that I know of. If your phone is rooted, do give Shootme a try, very easy to use, the default option is shake your phone to capture a screenshot. Can download from the Market. FOC.

hello all sgs's user.....is it worth to buy this phone NOW?as now dual-core is release in market. I thinking to buy this phone bcoz this phone is a king of single core phone. If i buy this phone and i want to use stock rom what tweaks i need to do to make it perfect or show its true potential? What i know is the gps is an issues, need to install lagfix, etc....can u all sifu2 makes me clear about this?really looking forward with this phone...please enlighten me and THANK YOU!  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

A lot of things are made clear in the first few posts of this thread.

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry42261558

As to whether this phone is worth to buy now, based on your feedback above about wanting to just run stock ROM, I would suggest you go dual core. The SGS becomes very powerful and quick once you tweak and customise it although the more recent firmwares are pretty quick already.

hows ur automatic brightness? seems mine doesnt work after latest update
*
Yes, something's a bit off with the latest CM7 nightly's auto-brightness settings. Not a show stopper for me because I use PhoneWeaver (sadly, paid app) to set timed profiles on my phone (e.g. 9am-6pm 50% brightness, 6pm - 9am 20% brightness).

iOS bug? LOL rclxms.gif btw how is cynagenmod?

Ha ha, CM7 is really nice. Key features to note if you're considering it:

1. Doesn't have Samsung Touchwiz layer at all, meaning all the Samsung goodness (or badness) are not there.
2. Very fast and smooth, zero lag, I feel. Even the call log scrolls as smooth as butter.
3. Latest and greatest stuff from Google (i.e. Android 2.3.4).
4. Because of (1), FM Radio and TV-Out either don't work or have issues (didn't test since I don't use both).
5. No Samsung video player i.e. cannot play MKV, AVI files unless I install Moboplayer (which still has issues with MKV files in CM7).
6. Video camera does 720p recording, but output is a bit jerky to me.
7. Photo camera seems ok, probably slightly worse than Samsung cam app.
8. Slightly higher battery drain compared to stock or the popular custom roms available
9. Non-Wipe updates (called nightlies) are released very often (I like)

Do note that ShootMe slows down the phone tremendously, probably around 40%. So don't panic if you feel the phone suddenly slow in response.
*
No problems, I don't leave ShootMe active all the time. I just run and 'hide' it when I want to capture screenshots, and quit it right after.

Anyway, CM7 is lightning fast, way faster than any Samsung stock ROM or any Samsung ROM-based custom ROMs that I have tried so a bit of slowdown wouldn't hurt ha ha.
