As far as external hd is concerned the iconia can only read fat 32 drives.

Writing currently not possible, but the whole point is that I can access all my media from my external drives.

Unless ntfs-3g can be ported to android. AFAIK, linux kernel also do not support write access to ntfs natively

After using my iconia for a couple days, I have start to notice some bugs in honeycomb. Random reboot, screen auto on for no reason, battery icon stuck on charging when it is not. Definately a 1.0 version of the OS.Half the apps in market cannot download. Same with applanet. Might have to hard reset the device.

NTFS is a registered proprietary file system by MS. While I really like NTFS support on just any system (be it Symbian, Android or IOS), its not recommended to distribute such APK without getting licence from MS.

When you have such issues especially random reboots, first thing is check your 3rd party apps. Android on Froyo above ver 2.0 and of course Gingerbread, Honeycomb is more sensitive to 3rd party apps incompatibility ESPECIALLY apps from 3rd party dubious sources. Such issues were rare in Froyo 2.0 and ver 1.6
So hard reset your tablet and monitor it. Install only apps from market. If you install through APK, make sure these APK files are extracted from original market downloads
These type of issues happen also in other android smartphones on Froyo ver 2.2 /Gingerbread and above. I have used several types of Androids and I participate in other Android threads and these issues are there too . But I NEVER faced such as reported by others as I only install apps from market. I buy all my apps and I do not install cracked apps from the black market
If you have problems finding apps in market - one way is to use Market Access or Market Enabler to fake a foreign telco, eg TMOUSA. Also at Market - open settings/SELECT ALL APPs

I noticed you mentioned applanet - you are only asking for trouble downloading from there

Only for those who need it. I never use it as all my hard drives are normal FAT , even those I used with my Macs

http://technidroid.com/reviews/acer-iconia...us-transformer/

THE VERDICT:
The Transformer is a tablet that shows so much promise that I REALLY want to like it. It has a top-notch screen, adequate sound, and is equipped with some nice touches in added features. The downside at this point is that it just doesn’t seem polished and fully ready for the market, due to its bugs and features that simply aren’t working properly, the camera being the primary culprit. I try and use it, but become frustrated by the issues it’s currently having.
The Acer Iconia A500, however, seems quite polished and performs wonderfully in comparison. It has a very good screen, dynamite sound for a tablet, and everything works together quite harmoniously, including the full sized USB 2.0 port.
At the current moment, the Acer Iconia A500 is a much better overall value in my opinion.

IMO there's still a lot of work to be done to make honeycomb bug-free like froyo. Seriously everytime i go molest the Xoom in SenQ, there's bound to be a force close or two. The market wasn't signed in so there's virtually no 3rd party app on it.

My 2 cents.

If you follow updates, you will find that the apps problem goes across multiple devices as Google streamlines the market for global access, not a honeycomb problem IMO

Also I've not encountered a single random reboot so far.

Some of my initial disappointment with the iconia : Not critical issues but just inconvenience

1. When connect to my MAC, it cannot be detected. All my other Androids no such issue and I don't even need to install any drivers
Anyway I connect it to Windows 7 on my MAC - need to install the drivers - was OK BUT than noticed can only detect the internal flash 32GB memory but NOT the external micro SD. Readup and noted Acer has yet to allow this function ?? Geez - my other Androids can detect both internal flash memory and external SD card, so files swapping is so convenient. Really hope Acer will correct this

2. Widgets application on homescreen - poor design - so troublesome need to scroll horizontally across the screens. I am too used to select widgets by just scrolling vertically up/down a listing which is so much easier and faster

3. Charging - the odd size G tip - till now I cannot find an alternative G tip same size so that I can use with my external battery ( it has most common sizes of all major notebooks but none of this iconia size ) - will try to look up for one in Spore tomorrow. It'd be better if the charging was thro' the micro USB - will have more flexibility in charging even in the car

4. Screen display is too bright even at a reduced brightness ; most of the time I tune it down right to the left

Other than these minor issues, overall I am very happy with it. The performance is very good with a very smooth/slick UI. Didn't notice any laggy issues as reported by some. I'd say 99.9 % of all my apps on the Galaxy Tab/SGS II works without any issue on it - so this issue of HoneyComb being incompatible with Froyo smartphone apps is not an issue at all with me
So far only 3 apps slight problems mainly due to display too big for it

Sure why not ? I have 2 such units which I used for my smartphone/Windows notebooks but I still cannot find the same size G tip. These 2 battery packs comes with up to 8 types of tips but none of the iconia size. If these battery packs can charge a notebook , sure can charge the tablet
