This is available for sale now even at my place , which is a small town. Price RM 1499. Have a brief look at it : most impressive is the build - very classy and its finishing is superb. I like the full USB port that it has, meaning you can now just plug in your thumb drives to transfer files.
The shop told me the Asus EEE Pad will be in soon too.

i dun think IPS have a super big different from acer iconia one...
read some comparison b4,only different in viewing angle, which the acer one offer 160' while ipad or tranformer give 175'

i personally prefer acer iconia,i tried asus pproduct b4,their service sucks,
and my acer laptop has been alive since 6 years ago,(but i have nvr tried their service center,so cant comment)

How is the protective case look like?
*
The case looks horrible and cheap ; will use it temporary. Such cases one can easily get at about Rm 30-50 range - it is made of hardcanvas plasticky like material. However It does protect the tablet well and it is quite thick

I will be in Singapore next Monday to look for those standup book type case cover - anyone interested let me know . Just help out - you just need pay delivery charges by courier which is most RM 20 only

You know I am just a hobbyist on these stuffs - buy, test and sell off . Will definitely keep the Tab . As for this Iconia will decide when the Tab 10.1 is out. Now fingers itchy wants to try the HTC Flyer but the price is a big turn off - going to lose a lot if I resell it

My phones I will keep the SGS II which I'd say is the best and greatest Android smartphone I have ever used - this is a monster ; it is blazingly superfast, does not lag at all, very stable and till now never freeze/hang.or force closures , a really unbelievable amazing achievement from Samsung. Their Galaxy S was a DUD - I sold it off in less than a month

Added on May 21, 2011, 9:42 amBenny, since you have both galaxy tab and iconia, can you post some comments on both? what is the main reason you will still keep the tab ?

i am new to andriod and looking for a andriod tablet now. looking for a light weight unit can i can carry around easily, can play on sofa, dining table, even surf net at toilet ! wuahahaha.... I wish the unit can b run at andriod 3.0++ now or in future. for me galazy tab 3g and acer was within my budget as both selling Rm1599 now.

the only reason tha stop me from buying samsung was it still running on andriod 2.2 (or there is already an upgrade to 2.4 / 3.0 ?) and is last year product. but I like the samsung weight.

I think if samsung official realease version 3.0 and confirm can keep on upgrade to 3.1 ++ defenitely i will buy 1 unit this month. even if there is a simple way to upgrade to version 3.0 also i will consider that. thanks.

The Tab is great for portability. It does everything that I need well - browser, email, tweets, RSS and Newsfeed, EBook, at times watching youtube, movies - I have zero complains. I am now on cook rom Gingerbread and is even better, smoother, faster than the older Froyo
It fits nicely inside my longpants side pockets ( with the booktype leather case). It can make phone calls/SMS - another bonus
Battery life is excellent - my usage easily 10 hours straight - cam match ipad
I don't think this 7" Tab will have Honeycomb - it it does is a bonus ; if it doesn't nevermind as it is more than good enough for me
I have repeatedly say in the forums, having buy/tested so many gadgets ( smartphones, tablets, PDA ) - I must say the Galaxy Tab is my best most valued purchase I have ever make and then it cost me RM 2200 , now it is only RM 1500. I will probably sell off this Tab if there is abetter 7" alternative

I buy the Iconia just for test/main main saja. If I wish to carry a 10" tablet - I prefer to carry my 11" MacBook Air - this MBA was the reason I sold off the ipad which is to me a half baked overhype tablet and the MBA can do so much more for the same portability/size. As a hobbyist I will buy the Galaxy 10.1 and make a comparison study with it

Seriously as of now, Honeycomb is is still in its infancy stage. many apps still not optimized for it. What is attractive is probably is UI which is more user friendly. Anyway to me stock UI ( whether TOuch Wiz, HTC Sense, Motoblur, etc ) I never used . I always replace it with a plain vanilla UI and I customize it myself. I believe we will see more potentials in Honeycomb probably another 6 months - by that time you will see new hardware. I feel buying a tablet just based on the Honeycomb OS is wrong. If another tablet even with Froyo can serve your needs, you do not need Honeycomb now due to better hardware, more choices will be available in the coming months

You just launch the app
First backup settings. Move to next tab select tmousa as telco. Tap to select on market access app or press down select fake provider if using market enabler. Close app. Launch market and you will see all paid apps

Market enabler needs root access.  However, I think it only solve the error "this item is not
Found" but "country" error remains

Rooting this device is as easy as 123... try benny link to xda forum above
P.s. btw, I hate the stock keyboard, so slow n insensitive keep typo error
*
Aiyoh don't blame keyboard maybe your typing skills. It is close perfect I don't see any issues with it. Responsive - it is not slow and letters appear immediately

QUOTE(Rubik @ May 22 2011, 09:32 AM)
After using my iconia for a couple days, I have start to notice some bugs in honeycomb. Random reboot, screen auto on for no reason, battery icon stuck on charging when it is not. Definately a 1.0 version of the OS.Half the apps in market cannot download. Same with applanet. Might have to hard reset the device.
*
When you have such issues especially random reboots, first thing is check your 3rd party apps. Android on Froyo above ver 2.0 and of course Gingerbread, Honeycomb is more sensitive to 3rd party apps incompatibility ESPECIALLY apps from 3rd party dubious sources. Such issues were rare in Froyo 2.0 and ver 1.6
So hard reset your tablet and monitor it. Install only apps from market. If you install through APK, make sure these APK files are extracted from original market downloads
These type of issues happen also in other android smartphones on Froyo ver 2.2 /Gingerbread and above. I have used several types of Androids and I participate in other Android threads and these issues are there too . But I NEVER faced such as reported by others as I only install apps from market. I buy all my apps and I do not install cracked apps from the black market
If you have problems finding apps in market - one way is to use Market Access or Market Enabler to fake a foreign telco, eg TMOUSA. Also at Market - open settings/SELECT ALL APPs

I noticed you mentioned applanet - you are only asking for trouble downloading from there

NTFS is a registered proprietary file system by MS. While I really like NTFS support on just any system (be it Symbian, Android or IOS), its not recommended to distribute such APK without getting licence from MS.

Only for those who need it. I never use it as all my hard drives are normal FAT , even those I used with my Macs

http://technidroid.com/reviews/acer-iconia...us-transformer/

THE VERDICT:
The Transformer is a tablet that shows so much promise that I REALLY want to like it. It has a top-notch screen, adequate sound, and is equipped with some nice touches in added features. The downside at this point is that it just doesn’t seem polished and fully ready for the market, due to its bugs and features that simply aren’t working properly, the camera being the primary culprit. I try and use it, but become frustrated by the issues it’s currently having.
The Acer Iconia A500, however, seems quite polished and performs wonderfully in comparison. It has a very good screen, dynamite sound for a tablet, and everything works together quite harmoniously, including the full sized USB 2.0 port.
At the current moment, the Acer Iconia A500 is a much better overall value in my opinion.

Some of my initial disappointment with the iconia : Not critical issues but just inconvenience

1. When connect to my MAC, it cannot be detected. All my other Androids no such issue and I don't even need to install any drivers
Anyway I connect it to Windows 7 on my MAC - need to install the drivers - was OK BUT than noticed can only detect the internal flash 32GB memory but NOT the external micro SD. Readup and noted Acer has yet to allow this function ?? Geez - my other Androids can detect both internal flash memory and external SD card, so files swapping is so convenient. Really hope Acer will correct this

2. Widgets application on homescreen - poor design - so troublesome need to scroll horizontally across the screens. I am too used to select widgets by just scrolling vertically up/down a listing which is so much easier and faster

3. Charging - the odd size G tip - till now I cannot find an alternative G tip same size so that I can use with my external battery ( it has most common sizes of all major notebooks but none of this iconia size ) - will try to look up for one in Spore tomorrow. It'd be better if the charging was thro' the micro USB - will have more flexibility in charging even in the car

4. Screen display is too bright even at a reduced brightness ; most of the time I tune it down right to the left

Other than these minor issues, overall I am very happy with it. The performance is very good with a very smooth/slick UI. Didn't notice any laggy issues as reported by some. I'd say 99.9 % of all my apps on the Galaxy Tab/SGS II works without any issue on it - so this issue of HoneyComb being incompatible with Froyo smartphone apps is not an issue at all with me
So far only 3 apps slight problems mainly due to display too big for it

Just wondering does Acer Ironic can support any external battery
*
Sure why not ? I have 2 such units which I used for my smartphone/Windows notebooks but I still cannot find the same size G tip. These 2 battery packs comes with up to 8 types of tips but none of the iconia size. If these battery packs can charge a notebook , sure can charge the tablet

Most web reviews says eeepad display is nicer
As for me i don't find it significantly different
I already find the iconia display too nice and bright - i tune down brigthness all the way to the left
It is similar comparing samsung amoled plus against iphone retina - the opinions are divided
What i can say the iconia display will not dissapoint most users unlee you have a microscopic eyes for details

Need some feedback from you guys. I have 2 email accounts set up in the default email program and I noticed it only allows a combined of 50 emails in the inbox. It does initially download all emails, a few hundred of them, but after going offline, the number of emails reduces toonly a total of 50. Anyone having this problem? Any workaround on this restriction?
*
I always recommend K9 Mail as an email app. The stock emails in all the Androids I have used is just too basic. Try K9 - you will be amazed at how much features and customization you can have and is free. Use it and I quite sure you will never want to use the default mail - which looks nice only
