That's bad. Mine consistently takes few seconds only. I used both papago x5 and sygic aura, with aura being always faster

is it my hw problem or firmware?

for my >5min locking, i used to switch the gps button off and only on when i need to use gps

yesterday, i leave the gps button on all the time. this morning, i need about 1 min to get a lock when using gps test

i guess leaving the gps button on helps here (note : the gps button located when you scroll the top window down)

but still it is 1 min, not seconds

when i got the lock, i switch off gps test and switch on back after a few min, manage to get locking after a few seconds

i don't mind leaving the gps button on all the time (it didn't eat too much juice) but it is quite annoying to get the lock after 1 min.

Question : Is the few seconds locking for you guys is after you activated the gps software earlier?

note : my car is tinted but not heavy tint

brotan, do you have data activated? some guy in xda claims that with data activated (not wifi), he gets fast fix.
*
i don't have a data plan yet, so i don't activate data

others can confirm if this is the "missing link"?

without data, the GPS locks in minute is normal. Only wiht AGPS (data on), the lock will be in seconds.
*
Thanks bro for your info. btw, i heard AGPS need to charge money right? if yes, how much?

Uncle Benny, do you use AGPS for your seconds locking?

I never bother with such AGPS stuffs - maybe is working in background. So far all my other Androids I also never bother - I don't know why others need to do all these plus install all those GPS apps . I just launch the GPS app and it just works , no issues - this includes all my other Androids

No offence, seriously if one gets such an expensive smartphone and don't have a data plan - might as well get a budget smartphone. Exception is unless you are always in a WiFi area. The data plan complements the phone especially when you are travelling and in areas of no wifi access
*
going to get my data plan end of this month actually nod.gif

got a good deal but must wait a bit

AGPS will assist the GPS hardware in finding the satellites. It is small data and the validity is about 6 days. When expired, it will request again.
*
so it is auto right as long as data is enabled?

btw, now inside my house, connect to wifi. manage to get locking within 30 sec rclxms.gif (note : i am inside my house)

i think the agps is really the missing link

will need a dataplan enable to really try it out outside if it really improves but my guess it will tongue.gif

thanks to all for your help
